The latest interview on gamespot (with HMX Sean no less) shows a picture of the main title screen for Rock Band. One of the main features listed is "Community". At first I assumed this was for the multiplayer features. However, from other videos it is clear that this represents something entirely different.

Since the forums/blogs section of this site is also titled "Community" I have to wonder if some sort of integration is being planned between the website and the game. Alex R. in today's podcast seemed to hint that something new/interesting was going to be done with Rockband.com, perhaps some sort of game-website linkage is in the works?

I can't imagine how.

Also, what about the non US version of the game? Most of the people don't speak english so this forum doesn't work with a non english version of the game.

Ah, really, can't imagine what this community feature is.

No, it doesn't. Online play is the second option in the menu "Multiplayer" which then expands into the various modes. "Community" is something different.

no, online play would mean multiplayer. what happens is you press multiplayer then it gives you the options of "split-screen, system link and online". Community is a link between rockband.com and the game somehow, probably for leaderboards and band profiles.

They've always said that they had big plans for rockband.com in the future...

As far as to what those plans are... pure speculation at this point.

I'll be interested to see how they work all this community stuff into the game exactly, and how it will benefit the gameplay.

Those will have nothing to do with the actual game.

I'd say the missing link is Bands. You can't technically have a "Bands Leaderboard" through XBL the way you have a Friends Leaderboard in every other game. What the website could integrate is a kind of "Clan Functionality" in tandem with the game that will allow you to measure your progress as a band with your friends' bands.

For starters.

in most game online is it's own thing, on the bottom of the screen, and offline play is in a different section titled MULTIPLAYER, makes sence to me, you guys are reading way to much into this.

Lucky good-internet-having people. Mine would lag if I tried to play a game as simple as pong!

I remember trying to play DOA 4 online with my internet, and I was practically immobile. Nothing like a good game of cowboys & invalids.

Yeah, that could be it. You probably can upload Band Profiles and Scores to Rockband.com.

Same here. Even though the whole points thing is a little... pointless.

All things considered, wouldn't it make sense to have the Community menu be a place where you can recruit/join other bands? Not everyone that will buy Rock Band will be a member of this site before hand (or even after), so it could possibly and logically be a menu where you can go and post that you are looking for a band to join, on what instrument, what difficulty you like to play, whether you're casual or "pro" (for possible Band v Band scouts).

It is hard for me to explain, but the idea is simple... you'll have to forgive my poor ... eh... delivery of this message as I am really tired.

Of course, Community can be used for more that just a menu/option to post about wanting to join a band or recruit for a band... but it can also be used as a way to have users enter tournaments and such (P v P or Band v Band :P).

EDIT: Did anyone notice that Queensryche "Eyes of a Stranger" poster behind Sean? Maybe I'm looking too much into it, but maybe possible DLC or hinting at another band on the disc?

Think that's a DOA 4 problem. It ran at about 5 FPS for me (played it on a trial account wich I now use to dump arcade games on),that was with 2 other people from Canada and yet just last week I was able to play Warhawk with 23 other people without any lag at all.

Comunity could be for the DLC. Get it through the game instead of marketplace/PSN store. Wich would be good cause the PSN store only updates on thursdays so if they released something on friday one week and wensday the next week that doesn't work out so well.

Yeah, probably. Definitely a better system and having to take a picture or video of everything to prove you did it for ScoreHero.com with GH/2/80s.
