I've seen many suggestions for Incubus in various posts throughout this forum. Honestly, when I heard about Rock Band... the first thing I thought of was that maybe we'll get some Incubus, but that didn't happen.

So, I've created this topic/poll in the hopes that maybe if we all try and keep discussing this (and voting if you haven't!), that maybe it will get noticed. Maybe then HMX will realize that they missed an amazing band.

Why should Incubus be included? For one, their isn't much like them... they combine so many elements from different genres and they are always changing their sound, but still after so many years, continue to amaze us. As Brandon Boyd has said, "I think because we've never had just one sound, our audience respects us. We're out to take them on a little adventure that's just ours."

Mike Savoia of the Rocket described Incubus as, "a '90s melting pot of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sugar Ray, War, Faith No More, Devo, Average White Band and the kitchen sink. " Pete Prown of Guitar Shop wrote, "Picture a funkier, more street-savvy Alice in Chains, and you'll be on the right Incubus track. This ain't your father's heavy metal."

Sliver Magazine's Z.A. wrote of S.C.I.E.N.C.E., "In my opinion, this is up for album of the year. Just flat out amazing. Combining brutal, funkesque slap bass, slick drums with a slight jazz influence and thick, hard-hitting guitars, Incubus is playing a sound pioneered by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but are beating the innovators at their own game.... Overall, this album is one of the best of 1997."

Every instrument would be a phenomenal experience to play in Rock Band with Incubus. Boyd's vocal style is a mixture of singing, screaming, and even screeching (which fits a group with such diverse influences), and would be amazing. Incubus' esoteric lyrics are incredibly thought out, and hit on topics that range from life to politics, and relationships to religion. I'm not a big fan of playing bass, but Dirk Lance (previous bassist) and Ben Kenney would make bass a really fun experience in Rock Band for many of us that don't normally play it. Michael Einziger's quirky guitar bites, while maybe not the traditional rock your used to (which is definitely a plus), would be a beguilement in Rock Band. And finally, Jose Pasillas on the drums... honestly, while it's entertaining to listen to, the joy from playing his parts would be transcendent.

Also, there is no reason that everyone one of their songs (apart from their earlier stuff around their high school years like Fungus Amongus) could be added. They provide esoteric lyrics that really have a deep meaning, and the sound that is Incubus... well, there's nothing like it. I for one, would buy every single Incubus song to get released as DLC.

So, enough with my thoughts on the matter, what do you all think? Please discuss as much as you can, and refer others to this topic so we can get more votes and keep it alive. Let's get some Incubus on Rock Band!

Yes, that's another one I really like (I'll add it to the list). The 'Light Grenades' album is one of my favorites :P

I doubt that we'll see much added to the main set list, but I'm definitely hoping for Incubus to get plenty of DLC in RockBand!

Sounds Good I personally would like to see Drive Megalomaniac or possibly I wish you Were Here, but if they did choose an incubus song for the main setlist it would probably be Anna Molly just cause of its popularity as the first single off light grenades

Yes, I would love for them to make it into the game ASAP, but I would prefer something off of their best album ever: S.C.I.E.N.C.E. Just about any song off that would be incredible, and in my fantasies, that would be the DLC album from them.

Bro, Dark Assassin, I am totally with you. Incubus needs to be in RB. I mean, "Stellar" was in GH I, so it's not like they can't get the rights...

I think "Pardon Me" is a good one, as you (Dark Assassin) mentioned, as well as "Privilege". That song has cool vocals and guitar.

the entire Make Yourself or even Morning View would be amazing to play through.

but if I had to settle for one, it'd have to be Sick Sad Little World. That guitar solo would be pretty fun to take a throw at, not to mention if the rest of the band is doing good, they'll go into the solo mode as well. That'd be pretty amazing.

Anyone else? I figured there were more Incubus fans than this :\ Maybe not...

I'd also like to see some Japanese rock but I doubt that will happen... I could sing it, but I know to many people would complain (even if it was DLC).

Fear not, there will be regional specific DLC. Which means you will have your J-Rock. Drive would be great btw. **** yeah!

I'd love to see anything on the disc...but I'm really hoping that Make Yourself or Morning View shows up in DLC as a full album...

Their more recent stuff is better suited for RB i think...even though i enjoy their earlier albums more.

It'd be cool to see some thing crazy like Azwethinkweiz...although it's not a very good choice for RB...

Good band, the one song they had on GH1 was fun to play as well. In fact when I get off work I think Ill go play some GH1 for old times sake.

To emphasize on what I said here, I think Privilege should really go on the main disc. That would be sweet. I mean, some would say Incubus has better songs, and I'd agree, but I think privilege just has that "Rock Band" kind of feel to it that I've come to notice since I wanted the game. The rest of the "Make Yourself" album should be DLC for sure, too.

Yessss I'm all for the calabasas boys in RB. I really hope Harmonix can pull through and get Incubus...it'll be one hell of a seller on the xbl marketplace that's for sure!

the new stuff no way! No offence but thier new bassist sucks! When they had dirk lance (s.c.i.e.n.c.e, make yourself, morning view) The music flowed so much more. Not to mention the bass was way better and more funky.

The new bassist doesn't "suck". Sure, I agree in the aspect that he's much different than Dirk, but Ben Kenney is actually an all-around better musician. He's an unbelievable guitarist as well as vocalist, he has a solo album coming out next year.

Oh and if he "sucks" so much you should totally try playing Sick, Sad Little World on bass and then get back to me ;)

I wish HMX had a page showing upcoming DLC, and DLC they are trying to get, etc. They could be working on some Incubus or something and it'd be cool to know....

I Put No Because It Would Almost Certainly Be A Song Off A Crow Left of the Murder or Light Grenades and both of those albums are horrible compared to their first 4.......

The Only Song I Would Accept Off Either Of The Last 2 Albums Would Be "Sick Sad Little World."

i totally agree with m1chelangelo as well. the band can't keep making the same music forever, eventually they'll want to try something new. and i like where they're going. they're music isn't as hard as it used to be, but thats not a bad thing.

Anna Molly and Dig would be fantastic songs, but it just wouldn't feel right to not include their older works of art (masterpieces if you will).

My own list for a Incubus DLC pack is: Psychopsilocybin, Anna Molly, Favorite Things, Rogues, oh hell I can't even pick from the long list of songs I love by them....

Ok ok, new plan! Give us every Incubus album and enable us to pick and choose songs.

I had the same thought when I found no Incubus on Rock Band.
Their sound is really perfect for it, and their music is popular enough to be recognizable. I think it'd be a good idea to put at least song or two of theirs to download.

Alright! Thanks to everyone who has voted and shared their opinion thus far! I really appreciate it, and I'm happy to see so many fans of Incubus... such an amazing band.

Well, I was looking at my original post that started this topic, and I decided to redo do it. It wasn't really compelling, and didn't share much about how I viewed them and thought why they should be in Rock Band. So please, go read it and tell me what you think ;)

There's no good way to pick a single (or even a handful) of Incubus tracks for inclusion. Drive and Wish You Were Here are a few (of a great many!) obvious choices.

That said.. if it came right down to I have to second any vote for Privilege. I drool at the thought of how fun that song would be with all of my friends over in full "rocking out" mode.

Well, if I may respectfully disagree... lower BPM and lack of overdriven guitar does not automatically make a song boring in this game. The drums in Drive might not be the most dynamic (I could see them possibly getting repetitive), but the guitar work and vocals would more than make up for it.

Not that either of you have to like it. I know *I'd* have fun with it.

Honestly, just the fact that Drive is absolutely amazing would totally make up for the slowness of it, at least for me. I love that song, and yea, it wouldn't be the most exciting and blood-pumping song to play, but do ALL the songs have to be like that? :\

anything but Drive would be nice. It's a good song, but there are MUCH better Incubus songs out there than Drive. Anything else off of Make Yourself is good, but Drive is nothing compared to the likes of something like The Warmth, Consequence, Nowhere Fast, Clean, Pardon Me, or Stellar. Yes, Drive is a good song in every right, but it's not the only good song from Incubus.

The best fitted song by Incubus in my opinion is Sick Sad Little World. It is THE perfect song for Rock Band, guitar solo and all.

edit: To be fair, they should just make an Incubus DLC Pack w/ a song from each of their latest CD's i.e. Light Grenades, A Crow Left of the Murder, Morning View. i just hope they're not going for singles, because it seems to be the way it's going now.

at the end of the day, I just don't want drive. it's boring as hell on drums. BORING AS HELL.

I fully agree with this. I would have rather had any Incubus song instead of some of the other songs they put in the game. I hate the Brain Power song, should have made that song a download and put Incubus there instead.

I have no idea... It'd be cool if someone from HMX could comment, but I doubt it. For all we know, they could've seen this and could be trying to get some songs... or they haven't seen it... just have to keep this going till the day comes :P

I'm kind of wondering about the people that voted no though... I haven't seen anyone explain WHY they voted no :\ Eh, I'm just happy to see so many people wanting Incubus in Rock Band :)

I'm a singer first and foremost, and Brandon's vocals are phenomenal as well as a hell of a lot of fun to sing along with. I know I'm just repeating for the most part, but the more people ask, the more likely it is. I hope.

Honestly, I bought this game expecting to play just guitar... my friends did the other stuff. Then my guitar broke... so I took some time singing and drumming. Drumming is SO much fun, and I love singing now (I sing everywhere thanks to Rock Band, lol). If Incubus came on RB, I would definitely have to sing first, then drums, then guitar sometime later... I just love the challenge of drumming, and singing is just amazing xD I love when you finally get a song down well enough to where you don't have to look at the screen, and you can sing and watch everyone playing and you realize... "This is an amazing game."

Yeah, their sound is unique and all the parts would be fun to play. Stellar, Drive, Dig, & Rogues would be my RB picks. Anna Molly is a great song, but would suck on guitar. Nobody has fun trying to streak triplets like that and the solo is pretty weak compared to Rogues'. Always a fan. Megalomaniac or however you spell it lol good song as well...

Sick Sad Little World would be the best song for Rock Band or Guitar Hero without a doubt.

I don't think thats their best overall song by any means since everything except SSLW off their last 2 albums has blown horribly.

They need their original bassist and Brandon needs to go back to taking drugs and wishing he was Mike Patton.

Incubus and Pantera are by far the first two bands I think of when I watch the "making of" videos for rock band when they describe how they picked the songs. Four solid parts with a blend of repetition and transition, the energy, etc.

My favorite Incubus songs:
Warning (though it'd be too easy in this game)
Blood on the Ground
Make Yourself (though explicit lyrics will keep it out of this game)

The Incubus songs that would be best in Rock Band:

Drive
Wish You Were Here (so they could add the pink floyd song by the same name and I could make a setlist of both)

Incubus needs more love! Out of boredom, I did a little math. I used a program to calculate the BPM for Sick Sad Little World, though I am not sure how accurate it is.

The BPM came to 152. During the solo, I believe those are 64th notes, definately atleast 32nd.

If the solo is in 64th notes, at 152 BPM, that is 42 nps (notes per second). Even with 32nd notes, which after further review I believe that is what they are, it is still a whooping 21 NPS.

Also since it isn't HO/PO that would be one hell of a challenge and would kill your arm. Sure the rest of the song is rather easy, but atleast interesting.

People want more challenging stuff! I am willing to bet the solo in Sick Sad Little World would provide more than enough challenge to those people.

Well, here is to hoping for some Incubus sometime in the lifespan of this game!

"O.K." Guitar?! Mike Einzinger is a wonderful guitarist. Sure he isn't as technical as some of the greats, but he comes up with some tricky stuff. Most of it is probably not going to be difficult on Rock Band, but probably way more difficult than stuff like say.. Say it Ain't So, All The Small Things, Creep, The punk songs, and most of the easier content.

Those are some really good choices but one song I would really love to see is from the Make Yourself album: The Warmth. I have to say that is my all time favorite song from Incubus. If any of you haven't heard it I suggest you do so.

The Warmth is an awesome song, but Sick Sad Little World is by far THE best choice for the game. I would much rather prefer the entire Make Yourself record or a 6-pack of songs, but if I had to choose one, nothing holds a candle to Sick Sad Little World...but I have to confess that The Warmth is my favorite Incubus song of all time.

but the entire Make Yourself record is just mindblowing. If you go back and listen to it, and just think of what it would be like in Rock Band, the options are endless. Nowhere Fast? Clean? ARE YOU SERIOUS?!

I think I'm just gonna stop waiting for this to show up in a game and chart it myself for DTXMANIA. Vocals would be left out, but it's hard to find a vocalist anyways for me. Too many people worried about someone hearing them...even though you can...NOT.

I doesn't have to be fast or heavy or overly challenging to be fun. Also, some slower songs can be very beast without you thinking.

i understand that, i just don't think that slower songs are as fun to play... but thats just my opinion... i guess i would just be a little dissapointed to see a song like "drive" or "wish you were here" end up being the song choice... and its not that they aren't great songs, its just that incubus has done so much more stuff that is better....and not so extremely over played...

All's I have to say is that Jose is one of the most gifted drum players through our times other than say, the drummer from Saosin. Sick. Anyways, back to Incubus. I know there are a lot of people saying that Ben isn't as good as Dirk, I whole heartedly agree, but Ben is a completely different style player compared to him. Ben uses a pick sometimes, Dirk never did. Brandon's vocal stylings are very hard to match. He can go to a low baritone to an alto 1 or soprano 2 in a heartbeat! The songs that I would like to see on there is:

I just listened to all their studio albums, except Fungus Amoungus, and I have to say I like them even more after listening to every song again.

Priceless has some killer bass, and I love the breakdown in that song. Would be another awesome track for this game. I just cannot wait for the day that they announce Incubus for Rock Band, I mean really! We need more modern music, and this is one of the better modern bands, and they have really talented members on all instrument, which of course makes it more fun. None of this one note and power chord crap on bass and guitar respectively.

Nothing wrong with that when it comes to listening to music, but it is just not fun to play in game. They also really have some killer drums, Anna Molly sounds like a blast!

Not that Incubus is my favorite band, but I probably would play this game Exclusively if they released an entire album or just a ton of tracks by Incubus!!

Sick Sad Little World is really all that I could ever hope for.

Pendulous Threads off the new album would be amazing for all instruments and vocals. The last two albums, ACLOTM and Light Grenades would be way more complex and harder that most of there previous stuff. I my opinion those would be more worth while if we had to choose albums. Some of the older songs would be awesome like Glass and Deep Inside from Science. Yeah, I honestly do not understand what is taking them so long to at least release one song by Incubus. Preferably not a cover.

hehe :D Thats almost exactly what one of my friends said when I brought this up ^-^ I totally agree. A lot of people bash the new bassist though, but I like him. I do feel the old bassist was more talented, but the new one is very good too. Jose is a beast on the drums though, those would be SO fun to play.

Yeah Dirk was awesome but Ben Kenney is just as good. Since BK joined they have gotten softer but I just saw them in concert a few months ago and he could rock just as hard as Dirk could. So maybe it's just the different sound they have now that might put Dirk above Ben but either way, Incubus rocks.

C'mon people how did this thread get bumped to the second page. I was just wondering, does anyone know if anything happened between GH1 and Rock Band that made HMX not being able or not wanting to put Incubus in. I mean, what the hell. One of the songs everyone liked to play was Stellar and then nothing since then. Did something happen? If anyone knows, can you let me know or direct me to an article or something.

Incubus would definitely be perfect for Rock Band. I think they should first put in their more popular songs (Anna-Molly, Drive, Stellar) then maybe add some songs from their S.C.I.E.N.C.E album, which would be so much fun to play.

I love Incubus~! They're my favorite band. I was hoping to see some Incubus and Muse in the upcoming DLC, and we got Muse, so now all we need is Incubus. I mean, honestly. The least we could get would be some popular singles. ANYTHING. American rhythm games haven't seen any Incubus since GH1, and that's far too long.

Man, you're reading my mind with the whole Incubus/Rage deal. If they released a pack for each of those bands, then I would have all I need out of DLC.

Anyway, I guess it's only fair if I make my own list of songs for RB:

1. Sick Sad Little World - Mike's solo all but dictates that this song be on either RB or GH (hell, might as well be both). The awesome guitar part notwithstanding, the overall song is just great for Vocals, Drums, Bass and Guitar. It's one of their most Rock Band fitting songs IMO

2. Crowded Elevator - Not on any of their main albums, it was on the Japanese (I believe) version of Make Yourself as well as all versions of When Incubus Attacks: Vol.1 It's a straightforward rock out song. The verses are pretty chill, but the chorus hits you. Brandon's vocals are great in this song, and are the biggest thing that sold me. Classic pre-Ben Incubus.

3. The Warmth - I'm pretty biased on this one as it's my favorite Incubus song (it's the song that got me to start listening to them), but it does have it's merits. While it's not as technical as some of their other work, it think it would still be fun to play as one of the easier songs (hey, who says all DLC has to have crazy ass parts?)

4. Pardon Me - I don't know why, but for the last two months, this song has been screaming Rock Band to me. Maybe it's the strong Vocals in the song. In fact, I'm pretty sure that is what sold it for me. Again, not the most technical piece, but I think it would be fun to perform.

5. Dig - This song would be one of those where you get a full band, and just lose yourself in the song, and actually feel like you're Incubus. The song has that effect on me every time I listen to it. It's one of their richest songs, and you truly feel the song. (I kinda get the same vibe from something like "Gimme Shelter" or "Creep")

6. Anna Molly - This song is only above average to me, but that doesn't matter. What matters is that this song seems like it would be a really good fit into Rock Band. The drum part would be at the very least challenging, and the guitar parts are quite solid

7. Calgone - I would love to see this song in the game if for no other reason than to just see it done. The end of the song was always unsatisfying to me on the record, and I would love to have a nice, long BRE for the ending. Not to mention the guitar parts are quite varied throughout the song.

8. Deep Inside - As a bassist, I have to have this song in. I love the funky bass line that Dirk plays in this song, and the variety of the guitar parts throughout the song would make this a nice song to play.

9. Warning - I really like this song, my only concern is if the guitar parts would be too stale. You wouldn't have to worry about the vocal performances for any Incubus song, but while Mike and Ben/Dirk are good, there are some songs where the guitar and/or bass parts aren't what you would necessarily find in something like Rock Band. I fear that this may be one of those songs. Idk, I'll just go back and listen again.

10. Megalomaniac - This song falls into the same category as "Crowded Elevator" above. Just straightforward goodness from start to finish. I can easily see it in RB.

Others that I would love to see in: Echo, A Crow Left of the Murder, Privilege, Wish You Were Here

Hell, just put as much as you can in, as you can tell by how much I wrote, no amount of Incubus content would be wasted on me :p

I thought Incubus would be much more popular on the forums than this. I mean.. they have sold 10s of millions of records world wide.. And they are still really good to the day

I never really saw any before so I searched the forums, and I have to say I am quite annoyed by the arrogance and ignorance of some of these people. Quite honestly, it's to be expected, but still... Here's one that stood out the most to me (read it and tell me what you think to):

He' criticizing the SIMPLICITY of the lyrics of all things, and not once from my hundreds of times of listening to that song have I ever gotten the feeling that he was trying to be profound in any way. He's talking about specific moments in time while making the CD with his friends, and I can see where you might THINK it's trying to hard to be profound, but that's just because you're looking into it to deep... simplicity will be the death of overthinkers -.-

And don't get me started on him calling Boyd a "vapid pretty boy"... oh. my. god.

It's pretty amusing. Vapid pretty-boy made me laugh. That's probably the type of person that only enjoys lyrics that you can't understand. It is true that Incubus has gotten bashed quite a few times on this forum, and it's surprising. Usually all you hear about them is praise, and on the Incubus vs Muse topic, Muse is just pretty much breaking through here in the states (even though they've had multiple radio "hits"). The easy listening of their new album has made them more popular, thus lots of people posting about them. In addition, that thread is full of about the same ten people talking about them (and random other things..) for months on end. So there you go. I think for these threads to truly stay alive there has to be more conversation. More than just "INCUBUS NAO", although I must admit that I am guilty of that as well.

So, yeah. Let's talk people.

Well has anyone seen them live? It's something I REALLY want to do, but I haven't had the chance to do. I do have the Red Rocks DVD and have watched it on several occasions with some friends, and I would have loved to have been there. It looked like it was so much fun.

Also, anyone know when they are going to start playing live again? I've read some things here and there and it looks like they are taking a break for awhile (since they just went on a world tour). Some of them are going to be playing their own little musical projects and some others are going to tread in other fields (like art I think). Ugh, man was I born to late, lol.

On a side note did anyone see the video of them talking about the US elections? They support Obama :P Interesting video.

Hey hey hey. I'm back. So someone called Boyd a vapid pretty boy. Idiot. Well vapid, definitely not but as for being a pretty boy, I really wouldn't know. I'll leave that one to the females. But anyway hope we get some incubus dlc soon.

I've seen them in concert maybe 3 months ago. Dude, if you can, you gotta see them live. One of the best live bands I've ever seen. Make sure you buy your tickets early though. I sat all the way in the back and couldn't see ****. Wish I had front row.

I don't know... I'm not as high on Light Grenades as a lot of people are. If they did release an album for DLC, I would want to see A Crow Left of the Murder I think it's an underrated album, and the guitar performances on the album are absolutely great.

That said, I would rather see individual songs made available. I wouldn't mind a three pack of Sick, Sad, Little World; Pardon Me; and Anna Molly. Doesn't mean that there can't be more made available down the line :p

P.S. I've yet to see them live, but I have spent hours at a time watching Youtube videos of their live performances. Pure. Greatness. I can only think of 2 songs out of the close to 30+ I've seen that weren't that great.

i bought Alive at Red Rocks on blu-ray. it looks incredible. and the different camera angles to watch the individual band members play is so awesome. I haven't been able to find Look Alive anywhere in stores. I might just have to buy it online.

So since Anna Molly is in GH for DS with a master track, does that mean if RB or RB2 gets incubus that it would for sure be a master track? As I have said before, the vocalist for Steallar on GH1 was TERRIBLE. If incubus is included, PLEASE have a master track or at least a decent vocalist.

The Look Alive DVD is amazing. I like it a lot better than the Alive at Red Rocks one.

I'm gonna have to disagree with your opinion on the DVD's. Look Alive is great, and while I deeply appreciate the introspective nature of it, the pure performance of Alive at Red Rocks appeals to me far more.

Also, I would sub maybe Vitamin and A Crow Left of the Murder for Look Alive and Nebula.

Lets talk how about I heard that Incubus will probably not be making music for a couple of years. During down time recovering from carprel tunnel(or however its spelt), wrist surgery, Mike the guitarist wrote a multi-stage music composition that he will be performing in August. After that he is going to Harvard to study music among other things. Brandon also said that he may attend some sort of schooling. Jose is having a baby. So yea, that sucks. No tours or music for a while. They are one of the performers honoring The Who on VH1 on July 17. Everyone be sure to check that out BECAUSE IT WILL BE THE LAST PERFORMANCE BY INCUBUS AS A WHOLE BAND FOR A LONG TIME!!!!!! Check all this out at their site EnjoyIncubus.com
