When I saw the thread title and then the first three bands I thought "WTF these aren't 70's bands!" .... Then I read it again...

Well, I think you have such a huge list here everyone is bound to find at least one band they like, and one they hate.

I probably like about 1/2 - 1/3 of what you have here. I like the classic rock and most of the 80s-90s stuff. I haven't seen much support for Goo Goo Dolls which I thought was cool. I do like some of the modern bands you have too (Incubus, Muse, Killers, Blue October, Evanecense, Finger Eleven).

Most of the other stuff I don't recognize or don't care for.

I appreciate the constructive criticism my friend.

and there would have been less confusion if the number of bands on here was not exactly 70...by my count at least. I would like to see more people put gigantic lists on here I think it would be fun.

Same.

Plus I love guitar solos. The more metal (classic/thrash) they add in the game the happier I get. Also More classic rock. Right now the game is lacking 80s music.

The Beatles-Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds
Fixing a Hole

Well... they fit, but they're decidedly middle-of-the-road instrumentally. :\ I'm going to go out on a limb and assume you've only listened to the Sgt. Peppers album?

If so, listen to Rain (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTLJMSbEnn0), And Your Bird Can Sing (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKxtiha3vcE), Revolution (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87yq372R4Ts), and Octopus's Garden (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aooVT9LQEso)

Green Day-American Idiot
Holiday
St. Jimmy
Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Give Me Novacaine
Minority
Not bad, but you're missing the earlier songs like Welcome to Paradise and Having A Blast. And you're missing one of the best songs from American Idiot: Extraordinary Girl.

Jimmy Eat World-Futures
Kill
The Sweetness

Nice. Missing Pain and The Middle, though.

Journey-Don't Stop Believin'

Wow... uh, you know that the guitar takes about a full minute to start playing? Go for Wheel in the Sky (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CdB6lSZnM8), Stone in Love (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TyzQl1msfnU), Any Way You Want it (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFjKFDvyJ80), Separate Ways (Worlds Apart) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxxOyGK1pMk).

KANSAS-Carry On Wayward Son

Icarus (Borne on the Wings of Steel) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBRj7AF8YjQ)
Child of Innocence (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I44xJLn20hA)
What's On My Mind (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ObFWdbGGd2s)
Miracles Out of Nowhere (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugJ2tV9KLQ8)
On the Other Side (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSVULtkJqDQ)

Red Hot Chili Peppers-Snow (Hey Oh)

Uh. I like the song, but the riff is short and repetitive and the solo is boring.

Switchfoot-Meant to Live
More than Fine
Stars

Nice

I haven't read the whole list, but AvA rocks!! Although The War is one of the songs I like the least. But The Adventure would be cool or It hurts. Or maybe something from the upcoming album.

Well said, I couldn't agree with you more

Not only do you want untalented garbage bands in the game, you call people with decent taste in music "Elitists". Just because it's a fun party game doesn't mean it needs crappy music. I like how being narrow minded to you means hating the 3 types of garbage rock popular today. There are tons of genres of rock that would fit better, and actually deserve to be in the game.

Where do you draw the line with what calling people narrow minded because of their non crappy musical taste? What if someone recorded a record which was someone banging on a desk. It becomes extremely popular, and it eclipses other music? I guess people who wouldn't like desk banging would be considered elitist if you had any say.

Actually, I'd rather listen to Desk Banging than some of the music on your list. Atleast Desk Banging is more creative than Fall Out Boy.

I added some of the stuff you suggested, Wings. I can't believe I forgot some of those songs, but then again this list took a long time to make. Any more song suggestions will be appreciated from anyone.

Also, glad to see some support for Switchfoot, they're really talented and I have a couple friends whose favorite band is Switchfoot.

To Revolver: its cool don't apologize. I don't expect anyone to like even half of the songs on this list. And its not like I'm saying I want all these in the game or anything, they're just my suggestions based on bands I like and songs I listened to and think would be fun to play.

To Coldplayer: I would really love to play the guitar for AVA. Also, I see you have STARS in your sig. That is awesome, I love them.

And I would like to play fall out boy. As horrible as everyone says they are, I could see them being very fun, just like MCR. That's my opinion. Ohwell if it sucks.

My $.02:

Audioslave - I'll take their whole first album as DLC.

The Beatles - I really dig The Beatles, Abbey Road, White Album, Revolver in particular, but I dunno how challenging most of their stuff would be. I'd be much happier if we got good Beatles covers, Frampton's "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" (maybe better suited for GH due to the super long, insane solo) or Aerosmith's "Helter Skelter" but I would't be opposed to The Beatles in RB.

Black Sabbath - Any and all, Ozzy or Dio, Sabbath rules.

Creed - please, no.. to each their own I guess, but just can't stand em. If anything, "Bullets"

David Bowie - yes! Ziggy as DLC!

Disturbed - Anything form their first album! If for anything, being able to scream 'oooh-wah-ah-ah-ah!" and piss the neighbors off.

Drowning Pool - Bodies. Sure, why not.

Evanescence - my girlfriend would be stoked for "Tourniquet"

Fall Out Boy - see above, 'Creed'

Flyleaf - I'm So Sick see above, 'Evanescence'

Foreigner - Juke Box Hero YES!

Goo Goo Dolls - another band to help the girlfriend feel better about me dropping $650 on a 360 and Rock Band.

Green Day - I had a Green Day phase. I'd definitely pick and choose some songs of Dookie if it were available as DLC, hell, even off their complete discography, but wouldn't mind one way or the other if we got them or not.

Jimmy Eat World - Not a fan, but "The Sweetness" is kinda catchy.

Journey - OMG Yes! A guilty pleasure, albeit a lame one, but I'd definitely buy any and all Journey for a dollar!

KANSAS - No "Dust in the Wind"? Blasphemy. But yes to Kansas!

The Killers - see above, 'Goo Goo Dolls' probably my girl's favorite band.

KORN - There's definitely some songs I'd love to pick and choose from, but wouldn't cry if we never saw them in RB.

Linkin Park - Only if they add the feature for two vocalists so we can have a screamy guy and a rappy guy. Or hell, Screamy guy and Jay Z! I'd definitely play that drunk!

MeatLoaf - Sure. Although "Paradise..' would be tough, having to sing both parts of the spoken word section with the guy and girl.

Metallica - any Hell yes! Although a lot of the songs I'd wanna play would be better suited for GH. Eg. "Orion"

Muse - Never heard of em til they announced that song for GH. I have to say, they are really interesting and the guitar parts sound fun and challenging, so sure.

My Chemical Romance - see above, 'Creed'

Nickelback - see above, 'Creed' although as I said in another thread, I'd take "Figured You Out" for sheer laughs.

Nirvana - any and all

Pearl Jam - any and all

Puddle of Mudd - Blurry Eh, don't hate em, or love em, but the song is kinda catchy.

Rage Against the Machine - any and all

Red Hot Chili Peppers - any and all

The Smiths - Yes!

System of a Down - eh, I could probably find a handful of songs I'd buy as DLC. Would rather have in GH.

Tenacious D - Hell yeah!! Also please include "Master Exploder" and "Beezleboss"

Weezer - Definitely a hand full of songs I would enjoy playing.

White Stripes - Icky Thump (the song) I really don't like them, at all, but that song bumps in a car with good bass.

Thnx perfect TOOL. You know, I should add Tool to my list, especially Lateralus. And i definitely agree that paradise by meatloaf would be a verrrrry difficult song to translate, but I think it would be cool to get two vocalists, one covering each singer. It wouldn't be hard to do, just a second vocal track below the first, because there are several good songs w/ two singers.

And man, would stars be awesome but I don't think they would translate well into the game, idk.

But yeah, Stars are very heavy on the keyboards, but some songs would work nicely, especially Window Bird! Man, that would be awesome. (And yeah, there is a Window Bird video on Youtube, but the whole great solo at the end is missing.)

Yeah, music = life. I'm always learning new music, and I try to stay open to new music. But I'm just a college student, so a lot of the music on here is music I grew up listening to. I love epic songs, which I why I listen to music like MCR. Few things can send shivers up my spine like the intro to Famous Last Words. I love the stories they tell with their music, it just all has this epic quality to it. This is the stuff I grew up with and hear from day to day, so it takes me a while to warm up to older stuff, like Journey. But Foreigner and Meat Loaf are some of my favorite music. I like Blue October because I can relate to what they sing about. Needless to say, I am not excited for the Grateful Dead album. I know I'm not as good a judge of what would be good to play since I am not a guitarist, but I do know what would be fun to sing, and I am musically inclined enough to listen and sort out the guitar from the bass from the drums. I listened to all the songs on here for these various parts before I put them on the list. I think vocals and drums are every bit as important as the guitar. And my bassist friend obviously cares about bass even more (and she wants a lot of Red Hot Chili Peppers...although she is also intimidated by them, lol)
I know Fall Out Boy would be a little easy, boring, repetitive...but I like Fall Out Boy and Panic! especially because they have very intelligent lyrics (Panic moreso than FOB) and I like the sound. And Fall Out Boy's songs are funny.
I have been listening to more old stuff recently though, its just that with me, like a lot of my friends, music impacts more if it has a more emotional attachment I suppose. I like ACDC's "For those About to Rock" but I can't identify with it like I can with "Overweight" by Blue October.

Aren't you a little old to be listening to MCR, Panic, and the like, and still be typing badly? This is how I used to type in sixth grade. Don't you know paragraphs? They teach them in Grade School. They're pretty cool.

I don't think listening to MCR style crap, with a few of the more popular alternative and classic rock bands is "always learning new music". There are more things out there. That is three genres you listed.

I can't say I'm excited for the Grateful dead either. Neither am I excited for Nirvana, or Metallica. And we all know songs need quality for all four players. That doesn't mean we need to include songs that would be boring and generic for all four players.

I really laughed at this line "Fall Out Boy and Panic! especially because they have very intelligent lyrics (Panic moreso than FOB)" priceless, and the only thing funny about Fall Out Boy is the fact that such a terrible band could be popular.

I... guh... buh... fuh.... Dust in the Wind does not have a single second of either drums or bass.

One of their best songs overall, but one of the worst fits for Rock Band.

Well, start being concerned about paragraph structure. Since an online forum operates mostly through text, making it a difficult-to-read wall of text puts you on roughly the same level as the guy who mumbles everything incoherently.

Glad to see some support. :D

And I don't know how many of you have read this, but Harmonix has announced that they want to make Rock Band its own medium, and all the major labels have expressed interest, since it is a new source for revenue (which God knows the music industry needs with illegal downloading on the rise).

Not only that, but the man they called in to help recruit music has expressed his concern for the game needing more of rock and roll's roots (50s-60s) which has been previously under-represented.

With all these factors, I think we will see plenty of new stuff AND plenty of the classics. I am fully confident in seeing some MCR, considering they are just about the most popular Rock Band right now. And man, would I love to see some Elvis.

Coincidentally, I find it quite remarkable how people are so quick to judge MCR without giving them a decent chance. One of my friends recently came over to the "dark side." She never liked them since years ago when they got popular and some creepy goth girl came up to her and said "you gotta listen to them, they're awesome!" She bought in to all that emo talk, and she always ripped on MCR, but after hanging around with me and hearing me explain what they are really about, she likes them now. They are catchy, they write decent music, and they weave epic, fascinating stories.

I just find people's ignorance very funny. I try to stay open to all types of music (there is even a rap song or two that I like) and I think people would gain from experiencing new music.

But I digress. I think that a list like this could be very possible with this new information, considering the majority of the audience will be playing rock band as a fun party game, not for just another guitar hero with more challenging songs. Speaking of which, some people may be disappointed with the difficulty level:

If MCR had no lyrics, vocals, or goth-y image, they'd be the perfect band.
