I don't know if it's just the way I sing, or my microphone. But it seems extremely hard to sing on EASY. It's very hard to hit low notes on certain songs, and the higher notes I end up going too over the top. Should I try singing louder? Because I sing very quietly (I am shy.) and to hit those low notes, I'm barely even producing a voice. Oddly enough, Talky Parts are extremely easy, and most people find those to be the most evil thing for Vocalists, but that could just be because I am on Easy.
How long did it take you to get to Expert?

Yes! I knew there had to be someone in the world that sung worse than me.
Expert? Hah, will never happen for me. Had the game since launch and Im still struggling through (see: butchering) the vocal tour on hard, pretty much taking 4 or 5 attempts to squeak through with 3 stars (I think I even 2 starred a couple )

Another reason to love Rock Band. 2 Staring Songs. and yes, I can confirm, that is 100% do-able.
I remember telling myself in GH1 and 2, that I'd NEVER be able to play Expert. and look at me now. Top 100 on Still Alive.

I don't know what to tell you regarding your struggles, but as for your other question, I pretty much started on Expert: I mean, I tried Medium, and I found it to be too forgiving, so I moved up to Hard. I progressed further on that difficulty, but felt that if I was doing as well as I was on Medium and Hard, I might as well stop wasting time and just switch up to Expert. Haven't played anything lower since, and as a result, I never did get to complete Hard vocals.

Well... if your like me, you suck at the "easy" songs, such as Say it aint so and In bloom, and worst of all, Creep. The strange thing is, I can beat run to the hills and Foreplay/Longtime... try it. I play hard and still have trouble with lower tier songs, only 3 starring them, but actually 4 starred run to the hills.

I don't play the main setlist until I get enough money playing DLC to buy my character some threads... (Which was completed today.) So soon I'll be working on actually beginning the Setlist for the Career. So far I can 4 Star most songs, and 5 Star some on a lucky day, but I still suck. I don't want to continue on to hard songs if I can't get through the basic high and low notes.

Well I mean expert singing of course. Im actually in the top 550 expert guitar on the 360, and I think 122 or something on Still Alive, from the 1 and only time I ever played it. (after which I had to delete it, because my wife heard it and said if she ever had to sing that piece of **** song it would be the last time she ever played RB with me.... so I made a sad face and said yes dear. I FC gold star the sad face yes dear every time btw. :( )
Guitar was different, I knew right away with practice I could be pretty good. Singing, I just plain suck at. No amount of practice is going to see me improve much.

At the very beginning, I struggled on easy, now I've beaten vocals on hard. I've gotten good enough to play guitar and vocals on medium and five star songs for BWT.
With practice, you'll get there.

I know it sounds crazy but try playing on expert anyway in practice mode or something. You need that feed back you let you know when you're hitting the note. On easy you can be off and still score. Also, try practicing just holding a note in place, that's half the battle.

hmm i feel like i should at least try medium. i cant right now im sick and just talking for more than two sentences i start coughing. anyway from the little bit of singing ive done and the videos ive seen. the less shy you are, the better you are at hitting the notes. cause you're not holding back anything and giving a better performance

This is a bad tangent, but I've 1-starred songs. It requires a very deliberate effort; it's actually HARDER than getting 3 stars.

I practically started on expert vocals. I only really struggle with talky parts. Anyways, I would recommend speaking up and making sure you get enough breath to hit the notes. Practice and familiarizing yourself with the songs is a big plus too. Standing up can really help (if you feel like it.) I don't really know what else to say that could help. Good luck.

I've passed Expert Vocals and was wondering if it was possible to pass a song with 1 star. I managed to do it with a score of 15,555 on The Clash's "I Fought the Law". I basically would pass every other word phrase and didn't hit any of the beats on the microphone. When I was done it looked like I had somewhere around 1 1/2 stars but when the final screen came up there was just one.

If you want a real challenge, try to 1 star a song. And yes, I can confirm, that is 100% do-able. It takes a lot of hard work to be that consistently bad, but just not bad enough. ;)
Edit: Whoops, see other people already beat me to the punch. In my case, it was "When You Were Young" by the Killers on guitar (can't remember whether it was hard or expert) -- strum two notes, miss the third. Repeat throughout entirety of song. If you start dropping too low, do groups of three or four to build you back up just enough.

I started off on Hard Vocals and got to over 6 mil on my career score. From there I moved on to Expert (I'm now at 10+ mil). The only real difference is that you have to hold the notes to their full length for the circle to fill up and give you an awesome. If you're having problems with highs and lows you may need to be octave jumping. If the notes are too low, sing them an octave higher. If the notes are too high (Boston - lol), sing them an octave lower.

The thing with Vocals for me is they are just TOO easy as in not challenging whatsoever. I never even went for score when doing my career. I breezed through expert without failing any songs and never even went back to do them again. I should probably pick up the mic again and up my score but ive just been having way too much fun with the drums. now THAT is a challenge for me. Music is funny like that. I can sing my ass off but can't for the life of me get my hands and feet to do 2 different things. lol-
