Voting will end at around noon tomorrow, so we've got plenty of time to catch up. Besides, you fine forum folk have done an AMAZING job ramping up the support. Just take a look at the number of votes we've received in the last few rounds: 2nd - 36 / 3rd - 134 / 4th - 194
Those numbers are AWESOME! So I trust that you guys will rally again and help us continue that steady climb in votes and get HMX into the Finals!

This has been the hardest one for me yet, as I was an absolute Counter Strike addict. However I realized that was the original CS, which wasnt actually made by Valve, but was a mod to Half Life. Not a big fan of CS: Source.
Tons of shooters were made before Valve ever got into the picture. Granted they made some great shooters, but nothing super innovative. HMX is almost single handedly responsible for the boom of the music / rhythm game, which is now hands down my favorite genre. Instead of just standing pat and raking in the cash (Im looking at your Guitar Hero 3) they continued to push the envelope and take a risk with a high price point full band experience, and in so doing made my favorite game ever, Rock Band.

Remember, YOU MUST REGISTER to have your vote count. You can check the box, hit submit, and it will thank you for your vote but IT WILL NOT COUNT unless you are registered. It really only takes a minute, so don't be scared. Rock on!

Of course I voted Harmonix! Seems like the good folks at HMX are being punished by some because the game has not release overseas

Harmonix is currently behind by about 20, but I just voted for them. Valve and Harmonix are really both amazing developers, but I still have more respect for Harmonix essentially defining the Western rhythm game genre.

As always, it's going to take a big come-from-behind push to seal this deal. We've got the gap down to less than 20, so let's launch a shock-and-awe campaign to finish this one off.
I hate voting against Valve too, but sometimes you gotta break a few eggs to make an omelet. Or a video of HMXSean making an omelet.
Valve is a much tougher opponent than either of the companies Harmonix would be facing in the finals, so get through this one and we're home free.

haha just to be the annoying kid in the room I feel its my job to say something to the effect of whining.
Well HMX we have had an easy run to this point. Your pedigree speaks for itself and the gameplay and so your team is the powerhouse. However with the ungodly amount of three and dunks your throwin down you have to lock in those basic fundamentals. Your getting to the foul line, but those DLC's just arent dropping in the basket :p
haha of course I voted for HMX BTW

I am as big of a fan of Rockband/GH as all of you, but you're an idiot if you don't vote for Valve. Before we were all addicted to rockband, we were all addicted to counterstrike (May not be made by valve, but was made on their gaming engine).
If you weren't addicted to CS or aren't a fan of the Half Life series then I can see why you would vote for HMX. But seriously guys, open your eyes and realize that Valve has revolutionized gaming all around, whereas HMX has revolutionized one type of gaming, and that is rhythm based games.
Vandyan
04-05-2008, 07:02 PM
Sorry, as Ive said I dont agree with this. Valve didnt revolutionize anything. They took an already popular genre (the shooter) and made good games that fit within that genre. Nothing revolutionary there.
Without valve we would still have shooters. Without HMX we wouldnt have music games.

haha i was never a fan of CS or Half life....... and again you pointed out valve didnt make CS.... Also taking into acount today I would vote on what I find the most enoyable now rather then what I used like back then. Valve isnt like Bon Jovi, after a while things get dated and outplayed. but HMX, its like living on a prayer, sure the outfits might go from spandex to more modern fashions but it remains amazing... (best analogy for the evolution of Rock Band from GH to Today)

If Valve revolutionized anything (and that's a big if), they revolutionized one type of gaming - the shooter. I don't see how anyone could seriously argue that Valve revolutionized gaming all-around. I don't know of any companies that have ever revolutionized gaming all-around, except for perhaps Nintendo.
but you're an idiot if you don't vote for Valve.
Also, saying something like that is just as childish as someone saying "but you're an idiot if you don't vote for Harmonix." It brings nothing constructive to the discussion.

I voted for harmonix, twice actually (I have two email accounts). Even though you banned me for 24 hours for "swearing" according to new forum rules, and even though you've released 2 crappy weeks of dlc, or should I just say no dlc (since shake and rock rebellion are awesome but I've had them since februrary).
By the way, how's everyone's vacation going at harmonix? :p

well for one, ive seen alot of your posts and there is a difference between saying the F bomb with all the **** after the F as apposed to putting a space in the middle of the word to get around the censor. Also referring to the DLC, Yeah maybe they did release 2 poor weeks of DLC but then again think of how many great weekly DLC updates they have already put out.... how many dlc updates did counter strike ever have?
oh and the new forum rules arent new, they have existed but merely were brought to a new attention to get people to take more note of them and to reinforce rules already therein......

True I suppose. I guess the Half Life series are some of the greatest games/storylines ever. Atleast in the top 10 in both categories.
I love Rockband, and yeah the rhythm game would be almost obsolete without Harmonix, but I think Half Life just had more of a fun factor to me.

Now thats a reason I can respect. Like I said in my first post here, I did struggle with this one, as I agree on the Half Life series being some of the greatest games.

Valve didnt revolutionize anything, imo, the unreal engine by far surpasses anything put out by valve.
btw as far as CS or HL go, i've played em both, liked em both but RB takes them by far....hell America's Army overpowers them imo.
I'll be puting my vote in here ina min

Vacation? It's 11pm on my Saturday night off and I'm here to solicit votes! (and also to do a little bit of moderating)
15 votes down should be no big deal. I have complete faith that the Rock Band Community will call their friends, rouse family members and loved ones from slumber, contact their local congressmen and HAVE EVERYONE VOTE HMX! Voting will end around noon-ish tomorrow, but don't wait til the last minute. We've had a huge boost of night time support for the last three rounds so I really hope we can pull through on this one as well.
Thanks to everyone who has voted so far!

Aaaarrrgh! HMX is only up by one vote, and the safety of sleep is calling to me so I leave it to you, my dear Rock Band Community, to carry the banner and continue the fight without me. I will be back first thing in the morning to check on our progress.
And let's do our best to keep the voting honest. Valve is a supremely worthy competitor and I'd hate to know that a victory was sullied by unsportsman like conduct. It'd be like when I found out Milli Vanilli was using a tape recording, you know? And I can't take that kind of hurt again.

Yes.
It totally is over 10 characters sad.
What I find funny is that you said this on the Escapist forum -
It's because the mods on the official Rock Band forum linked here and told people to register just so they could vote Harmonix. I voted Valve, however.
But you yourself got to that forum through the link from these RB forums, and that was your first post on those boards. Am I the only who sees the irony there?

Yikes! This is going to be close! HMX currently has a lead of 15 votes (where as Turbine is sitting pretty on a 117 vote lead in their division) with about a half an hour remaining. If you haven't had a chance yet, PLEASE register and vote!
You guys all deserve a Big Rock Ending style THANK YOU for all of your support. The votes, the encouraging posts, and the (non trollish) comments posted on the Escapist forums are all greatly appreciated by everyone here at HMX. That kind of feedback means the world to us. Only one more round to go, and I think that we can do it. THANKS AGAIN, ROCK BAND COMMUNITY!

WOW! WE MADE IT!
With a narrow margin of only 14 votes (14 of you spectacular forum people, no doubt) HMX has earned a slot in the Top 2 in The Escapist's Game Developers bracket!
Things were really touch and go with Valve for a while there, and I'd like to salute them for the valiant warriors that they are. We've got stiff competition in the Finals against Turbine, who has been crushing each round with 200+ votes. We need all the support we can get if we're going to win it all. VOTING STARTS MONDAY FOR THE FINALS, so don't forget to check back in and vote again tomorrow. We'll keep you posted on progress as always.
THANKS SO MUCH for all your support over the last few rounds! The encouragement and momentum has been nothing short of impressive, and it reminds all of us what an amazing Community we have. YAY ROCK BAND COMMUNITY MEMBERS! You guys ROCK!
