Gold stars?

So I've searched high, and low throughout the forums and googled it. But I just can't seem to figure out what the requirements for five stars are. I've probably overlooked an explanatory post if so I'm very sorry, but I'd like to know.

I know it's not 100%, My friend has gold starred under 100%
I know it can't be entirely score based, I've gotten gold stars, gotten a higher score on the same song, and not recieved gold stars.

Could somebody please explain these to me?

just like every star rating, it is only based on score

first of all, it is score based. I'm not sure how you got a higher score, yet didn't get gold stars. You need to get around 1.5x as much as a five star to get gold stars.

Also, you can only get it on expert. I don't know why it's like that, but it is.

On that page, if you click on the Guitar/Bass, or Drums, or Vocals links, there's a sticky in each forum with the list of scores.

Thanks tons guys, I'm not sure either, Though it's not the first in-game glitch I've suffered. Thanks tons for the score list davidshek, and JesusSilencio I knew the expert thing already (I think that the reason would be that once you reach expert, it's just a way to stand out a bit more from playing expert, I can play lots of songs on expert. But I can't brag that I can five gold star them all.)

for the record gold stars are also only expert....if you beat the requirement for a gold star but were playing on hard, that could explain why you had no gold star with a higher score.......
