So with a very small portion of the main setlist to go (not including DLC and possible bonus tracks) what bands/songs are you still holding out for? Still praying will make it?
Mine are Hendrix, Led Zepplin (I know, I know), and Jefferson Airplane.
I can wait for more DLC as far as metal goes.

I got what wanted, so I just hope for more Soundgarden and Radiohead DLC. Some Cream and Zeppelin would be hot too.

and one big name artist to make people be like OMG when they see the setlist. Not even that I want them in the game, but that it makes the game appeal to more people.
Like a zep, AC/DC, Tool etc..

I think Tool is gonna make it on the disc. I mean everybody wants it and Harmonix listens.
Remember when everyone wanted Blitkrieg Bop instead of Rockaway Beach?

Aside from what's been mentioned already, I'd like to see some Elvis, Boston, Muse, Aerosmith, Foreigner, Journey. Also something more than rumors about RHCP and Soundgarden.
For DLC I'd like to see some stuff like Spacehog, Third Eye Blind, Stevie Wonder, The Darkness, Collective Soul, Evanescence.

This should be in ultimate setlist I guess... but I just can't see an overview of rock and roll going back to the 70's without:
Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen, The Kinks, The Guess Who, Lynyrd Skynyrd, BTO, Foreigner, ELO, Cheap Trick, ZZ Top, Boston, Kansas, Styx, The Kinks, Santana, Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, Lou Reed, The Knack, the Doobie Brothers, Alice Cooper, and so many others...
It would be impossible to distill the whole genre of rock and roll down to 40 songs without pissing off someone, so I'm just happy that there are quite a few songs in the list I like already.
Low expectations is the key to happiness... when the awesome tracks are announced, it's like early Christmas.

Well, some of the stuff I mentioned was 60's too.... But yeah...
Jimi Hendrix absolutely... Voodoo Child, Wind Cries Mary...
The Beatles? Forget about licensing.
I'm not a big Bob Dylan fan, sorry... pass.
Elvis? No thanks... maybe as DLC.
The Kinks were mentioned..
Jefferson Airplane, Cream, CCR, Buffalo Springfield, Frank Zappa, Ben E. King, Van Morrison.
I think one of the biggest problems is obtaining master tracks with separate audio channels from material this old. They need to be able to separate the drums from the lead guitar from the bass from the vocals... They need that in order to allow for the game mechanics of screwing up and having your instrument play incorrectly or not at all.

That's what I was thinking as a reason why there's a lack of songs from the older decades. It's unfortunate, if they could only get the bands to come in and record a remastered track.

From what I remember watching Pink Floyd documentaries, Pink Floyd recorded a lot of stuff with state of the art gear, on separate channels... I can only dream about playing Wish You Were Here, Another Brick in the Wall, Have a Cigar, Comfortably Numb, Hey You, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Time, Money. I wouldn't mind On the Turning Away and Learning to Fly either, even though they're more modern.

its a shame though that a musical genius like frank ****ing zappa will never be in this game :'(

Lots of genius musicians won't make it. They're is so much out there somebody has to be excluded. Such is the way of life. No one man (or game) can have it all.

Disturbed - Land of Confusion

Would be the craziest f***ing song on the planet to put on rockband. Every part would be extraordinarily hard...well, except bass...but regardless it would definitely be a final tier song and I would LOVE IT!!! LOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEE IIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTT!!!!!
yes.
and anything by zeppelin and Hendrix of course....

09-09-2007, 05:46 PM
forgot about dire straits. they definitely have a song or two which would work out just fine.
Zappa, Tool, Perfect Circle, Yes, Floater and Genesis (before Peter Gabriel left the band) are my "would be nice but ain't going to happen" list.

I'm really hoping for Iron Maiden and Megadeth. They've both been in previous guitar hero games, so I assume they have an alright relationship with Harmonix.
Aside from that, a Tool or Dream Theater announcement would quite possibly give me a heart attack.

I'm really hoping for Led Zeppelin and the Beatles. If either of those two bands get into the game I will be sooo happy. I think Rock Band has a good chance of getting huge bands like these. We'll see, and with 5 extra chances, its certainly possible. I think we will see some AC/DC though definitely.
I'm already super excited for a lot of the songs in the game though, and especially pumped for some potential Nevermind as DLC.

However, I could go for some 311, Rob Zombie (from Hellbilly Delux), maybe Third Eye Blind, or even Bush?

White Rabbit bass FTW!
The way all the instruments meld together in that amazes me. And Grace Slick? One of the coolest people (female or male) to hold a mic.
GIMME JEFFERSON AIRPLANE! Surrealistic Pillow and Crown of Creation DLC PLEESZ!!!
