I have a friend who works in TV advertising, so she gets to see pilots for all the new shows each season before everyone else. (and she lets her friends see them too) Most of them are crap, but I found one program, New Amsterdam, particularly stupid.

New York City homicide detective John Amsterdam is cursed with immortality because he stopped the murder of a Native Indian girl in 1642 by stepping in front of a sword. Due to this act of kindness, the Indian girl rescued Amsterdam from the stab wound by making him immortal, but warns that it is a curse that will only be lifted when John meets his true love.
They give you the set-up of "magic immortal man must seek his one true love in order to lift the curse of immortality" and what do they do with the show? Turn it into another farging CSI. But, given that it's on FOX, it'll probably only be around for about a month before they replace it with re-runs of Prison Break.

P.S. Pushing Daisies is the one new show this season that's definitely worth watching.
