I've never heard anyone say "LOL" outside of the PC.

It depends on who I am around. If Im around friends that I play games and/or chat online with frequently, Ive said LOL (not the letters, but pronouncing it lawl) and also rofl (pronouncing it rawful). Id never use those around strangers, family, or people that I know arent into that stuff. (and it drives my wife crazy, but then again most everything else I do does as well)

Lucky you.... I know guy where I work that says L-O-L and Z-O-M-G all the time, thankfully he just transferred to a different department and I don't have to listen to him anymore. Some things just don't belong in real conversation.

I usually end my sentences with ascii faces. ^^; But I've noticed lots of kids online like to end their sentences with "lol" with at least the same amount of frequency. :p

Anyone watch the TV show Monk? (OCD detective, totally clueless about the real world)

There's one episode where Monk gets introduced to the Web and IM'ing. He's sitting there IM'ing away and his friend the Police Captain makes some sarcastic remark to which Monk replies:

"That makes me want to LOL out loud"

I don't say it off line, I just laugh out loud, or smile, etc.

And I only end a sentence with lol if I'm not 100% sure people won't pick up on sarcasm or a "sophisticated" joke.
