WHY is this what seems to be the most popular song for random online play?? EVERY time I play online, that song is requested! Don't get me wrong, I like it and all, but give it a rest already...

And people need to get some DLC, too...

I agree 100% I usually just leave.

In response to your thread.

Yes... I hate playing Welcome Home EVERY time I play with random people.

Also, I stopped playing with random people all together because NO ONE has ANY DLC. Apparently the 6 million songs sold were all to me and my friends...

If my friends arent online, and my girlfriend isnt feeling up to continuing BWT, I'll just solo Bass it for a while to get my scores up on Scorehero.

I haven't noticed it. But like AgentWomack said, just leave the room, or play with people with plenty of DLC. Normally those users tend to go with that.

I don't mind playing it once, but sometimes it'll be requested twice, or you wind up with another person/group and one or more of them want it too. Unfortunately, I've had to resort to just leaving, as suggested.

As for the DLC comment above, yeah - I feel like one of the few who has DLed a decent amount of songs...

I have noticied it. Theres a good reason too.

Its one of the most rounded songs in the game. Its great fun for most players, and its not crazy, im gonna fail my ass off, difficult. You know?

People like it, because just like Foreplay/Long Time, it is awesome, and it gives off that rock feeling much better than a lot of other songs.

P.S. I love Coheed more than most other bands, but DAMN im tired of it too.

The 11th Commandment: Thou Shalt never knock Boston.

I know you werent. But FP/LT is just an epic song. My buddy and I ALWAYS end our night with that song. Its funny, because with the Boston pack out now... We almost always close with Piece of Mind, More than a Feeling and FP/LT. Thank God that pack came out. I really dont mind playing FP/LT every single time I turn on the game, but Welcome Home, first isnt as timeless, and second, is as epic of a song. Yeah, its a great rock song, but its far from the greatest thing on the Soundtrack.

because twice a night is fun. 22 times a night is somewhere beyond stupid and unbearable

I even think twice a night is unbearable, for any non-Weezer song. lol.

I never said it had as much awesomeness crammed into every square inch as boston does. What i did say though, is it is terribly fun, NOT terribly hard, and it vibes the "rock band" feeling more than, say, Buddy Holly. Its an amazing intermediate song. And with that, it shares a spot with boston, who is an Amazing Post-Intermediate, Pre-Pro song.

I did. Its not as fun on drums, but its still moderatly epic. Pretty good time. I wash it was a master too, but honestly, the first night i played it, i was so giddy for more Coheed, that i didnt even NOTICE it was a cover, until i was on wikipedia the following day, and it was marked as a cover?

I agree with this post. I bought this game in January and only this past monday decided to play online QP. In two days (mon/tues), I joined 10-12 different bands and had Welcome Home selected 9 times. Not that it's a terrible song to play, but that's just too much. There's 57 other core songs to choose!

On a positive note though, I played it so much that I basically memorized it and got 100% and gold stars on guitar -_-

I'm always up for "Welcome Home" perhaps every other time I settle down to play Rock Band, including times when I play it online. I usually try to steal the lead guitar part (even if I'm not the host) if somebody else has a guitar on them, though, since the opening riff is just so frakkin' sexy.

But yes, as stated before, 22 times in one sitting is overdoing it. And if I'm host, I'll never, ever have my group play the same song more than once in one sitting. It's simply not good for variety's sake.

I think it's really fun to play on Expert Drums, so I wouldn't mind.

i wouldnt mind playing it often
if i wasnt the drummer

but i am

and the song is too much goddamn bass notes. just like paranoid. i find myself leaving almost everytime now. if im on either guitar i dont mind it at all. its a good song

It's easy and "epic" sounding with a fairly enjoyable solo. Plus it's a decent song by a new and popular band. Pretty logical that most people would want to play it.

I get too many people wanting to play the Metallica pack and I dont like it for this reason. It's just too hard on the kick. I actually had a guitar player quit last night because I wouldn't do ...And Justice For All and Blackened back to back. For god's sake dude, let me rest!

I can pass all of them on expert, but Ride the Lightning and Blackened are major pains and I have to save overdrives to rescue the other members.

Welcome Home is cake on the kicks though, so I dunno what your beef is being an expert drummer. That song is mid-tier and even that is pushing it. The only real kick heavy part is at the very end, and that part is killer fun because its all on beat kicks and very little arms. I play that part with my eyes closed and looking up at the ceiling going "OOOOOHHhhhOOOOhhhhhOOOOOhhOOOOOhhhhh". Why do i do that...? Why not...(?)

EPIC!!!

Co&Ca does sound totally epic. Full of major win. Like i said, its Foreplay-ish, in the way that you feel awesome while playing it, and its crazy fun

I feel kinda bored when I play it actually. But it sounds good so I don't hate it... that is, until we get to the solo and the guitarist completely miffs it.

Yea Its not very interesting song. very boring edspecialy for a drummer. And the singer has to be kicked in the nuts before singing it

I have noticed alot of people want to play the song. I cant stand it.

Not Even close to Foreplay/Longtime

Definitely one of my personal faves to play.

I could see people getting sick of it after a half dozen times or so per outing. :)

Yea i'm sick of it too. You'd think if people were playing online they'd have more DLC but I guess that just makes too much sense. I actually got in a full random band where we all had a bunch of DLC and the leader bypassed it all and went straight to Welcome Home.....I just left.

I've really never had to play this yet? I must be missing all the FUN lol No one picks it when i play, but i can say ENTER SANDMAN is played to death.. Every new group i join, ur bound to play that right off the bat..

And like someone stated before, 6million DLC Downloads, where are they? LOL. Maybe 25% of the ppl i play with in the Online Quick Play have DLC's. Where are all u DLC'ers hiding LOL

its not that its difficult, its that theres so much of it. and i have a stock pedal so i have to worry about stepping too hard. maybe when i START playing, i can do it. but after 5-10 songs then someone picks Welcome Home...its too much

That's lame. If it is so hard to find people with DLC, why wouldn't you friend them or play a song you didn't like and likely play that elusive DLC later in the session?

It's definitely one of my favorites to play, not gonna lie to you.

I like the bass part (only gotten through hard, haven't done it on expert yet), and I think it sounds pretty bad-ass full band. And you don't have to have played and practiced it for months on end for it to sound good at hard or expert. I only got the game two weeks ago and can do 98%+ consistently on hard.

I got online (For Science), and played some QP. Out of 28 songs across 6 different band leaders, Welcome Home came up 7 times. My Iron Lung came up 4 times, which was awesome, considering that it is DLC. The only other repeat was More Than a Feeling, which happened twice. This was on PS3, where there is no voice chat.

So my oh-so-scientific research shows that welcome home is disproportionally popular.

I think welcome home is really boring on expert drum and annoying because of those repetitve kick pedal hit.. When I'm in a session and this song is selected, I either play it on hard (less kick pedal) or leave.

And yeah, Lack of DLC online, the only ones I have played with my non-friend is Beethoven's C***, And justice for all.. and The kill. I was there for approximatly 3 hours yesterday and I have gone through 8 bands. (I was the leader 2 times). Of the six band I wasn't the leader, Welcome home was selected 3 times (The only song that was selected more than twice).

I did play enter sandman one time (I was the leader, but it came through the random list, I'm always using the random list!).

If you are on PS3, are tired of this songs, have more than at least half of the DLC, and are either a guitarist, bassist or singer, add me if you want: Imakida

This has happened to me too! The leader even paused on one of the songs for awhile like he/she was going to pick it...then went and picked "Welcome Home." When I see someone has DLC online thats the FIRST thing I pick. I guess some people just like this song better. ugh.

While I think the lyrics are total bollocks, "Welcome Home" is at least okay to play on guitar and drums.

Anyway, it's prog... it's meant to sound epic. Unfortunately it just isn't interesting enough to qualify as epic in my opinion.

I would be happy to only have to play it once every other night rather than in every single session with random pickup bands.

i agree completely. but it seems that lately (for me) people keep wanting to play run to the hills. and usually when i play online i play drums and i can't play that song to save my life. so i leave and find another random band and then they're like lets do run to the hillls and i'm like noooo.... and anytime i'm lucky enough to find some people with DLC we only have the metallica pack in common so they always want to do justice which is insanely fun on drums but tiring..
