I had the guitar on reservation for a few months, picked it up at Gamestop today. It is much better than the one that came with my set back in December especially for songs that require very quick note sequences. However, I can't get it to go to overdrive, wonder if something is wrong with the motion sensor? You guys think this is isolated to just this one guitar?

Definitely not isolated to that guitar. I had one with a bad strummer at launch and went through 4 replacements that had similar problems. All of them either wouldn't go into overdrive without turning them upright and shaking them repeatedly for 10 seconds or they'd only do it some of the time. RMA it or return it to the store for a new one.

frustrating to deal with this but still worth it. I paid $10 extra at Gamestop to have no hassle replacements up to 1 year. Looks like that was worth it. As soon as they get more in stock I will exchange it. Not going to overdrive is better than the strummer problems. I had the strummer issues with my first guitar.

I shoke it for a while, but I guess not 10 seconds! Thanks for the information.

In case anyone is wondering I confirmed the issue is with that guitar. I built my energy up then paused it. Unplugged the new guitar and plugged in the old one. The old one went straight to overdrive with no issue.

You could always push the "back" button on the guitar to enter Overdrive, if all else fails.

My second guitar won't overdrive either.
I am not going to send it in for repair or anything because I will just fix it myself like I did the original.
They must all be like that.

Please post the tilt sensor fix! I'd ratther do that than return it and wait for a new one. I have the same problem with new wireless xbox 360 guitar.

I bought the xbox 360 wireless guitar and have the same problem. I read all the tricks and nothing gets it to work. I've been playing these games since GH1 came out. I took back the guitar to the store and was able to get a new one. That one is also broken. EA told me to return it to the store again. They said that they are not exchanging the wireless guitars online yet. I just want a guitar that works like it is supposed to. I want the tilt sensor effect, I don't want to hit select. I am offended by the fact that anybody would except anything less then what they paid for.

I also just grabbed a bundle here in Canada and my guitar wont go into overdrive and it looks funny. The neck is a different colour but the rest looks the same as the old. Not like on the box. kinda pisses me off. paid so much for it. frigg sakes...screwed again...no cymbals?...add on a month later WTF

Does anyone know if that Bass Pedal trick works for the Mad Catz bass controller? Having similar problems with it.

Any controller with a "back" button can be modded to have a footswitch for triggering star power. when I bought my wireless strat for RB1, it had a completely defective tilt sensor, and I never really liked the tilt sensor anyhow, so I set about to mod it. If you wire the two lugs of a 1/4" jack to the two sides of the "Back" button's solder joints, then make a foot pedal with a momentary switch (normally closed type) wired to it's own 1/4" jack. Run a 1/4" cable between the two and voila, foot-controlled overdrive. Never mess with a button or tilt sensor again. Probably voids your warranty, though.

Oh, so you can't just plug in the pedal, you have to actually go inside and mess with the wiring?

Oh and the back 'button' on the bass controller is more of a knob that you turn, will that affect anything?
