I'm partial to another Foreplay/Long Time case, with A.D. 1928/Rockin' the Paradise. You can hear them both on last.fm (http://www.last.fm/music/Styx/Paradise+Theatre), so play them back-to-back and you'll see.

Thats a great Idea. those are two of my favorite songs, and would make a great combo track. I haven't heard crystal ball in a while, have to go listen to it again. Some of there newer stuff would be cool, like fields of the brave, or some others:) Styx was the first band I every really listened to, so Id buy any and all of there songs that made it onto rock band in a heart beat

Heavy Metal Poisioning

Miss America

Midnight Ride

STYX ROCKS!!!

Styx Greatest Hits was the first CD I ever bought! I've been hooked on Classic Rock ever since. Styx still remains in my top 5 favorite bands! I even saw Dennis DeYoung (former lead singer of Styx) in concert a couple years ago (he did all Styx songs), it kicked a$$.

So yes, I am all for ANY Styx song (older stuff preferably), a 6 pack of songs would be amazing!!!

Styx is an amazing band and, considering they are a staple of classic rock, it surprises me that none of the Guitar Hero/Rockband games to date have featured any Styx songs. Personally, I would like to see "Miss America" (my favorite Styx song), "Blue Collar Man", "Fooling Yourself", and "The Grand Illusion".

having styx come out at the end of the month would be great, because i'm going to see a boston and styx concert. styx DLC would get me pumped. renegade would be great, mr. roboto would be great for parties, and come sail away would be enjoyable.

I've officially requested Renegade and Lorelei, but there could easily be a 6-10 song pack filled with amazing songs for the entire band. Very underrated drumming, amazing vocals and typically insane short guitar solo bursts in every song.

To me, Grand Illusion as a full album DLC is a no-brainer. You've got:

The Grand Illusion
Fooling Yourself
Come Sail Away
Miss America

plus Man in the Wilderness, Castle Walls, Superstars are good songs.

This is a no-brainer. But if they went with a 6-pack that included other hit tracks I'd be fine with that too.

If we're just talking about songs that would be a great fit for Rock Band it would be the following:

Renegade
Blue Collar Man
Come Sail Away
Too Much Time on My Hands
and perhaps The Grand Illusion

What would be great is to see CSW included in RB3, and then later to have a Styx 3-pack from a combination of the choices above.

It would be great to have The Grand Illusion as full album DLC, but I'm not as hopeful of that compared to having a Styx 3-pack.

Renegade and Blue Collar Man, definitely. I'd luh-huv Lorelei, too.

But the DeYoung-influenced tracks are VERY heavy on the synths, and wouldn't give guitarists or drummers (or even vocalists, for that matter) much to do. Mr. Roboto? No. Come Sail Away? Great riffs/vox on either side of a VERY long keyboard solo --- that would leave your entire band on a 5-minute pee break.

Just a guess, but it probably involves legal wrangling...Styx hasn't been the same since "Kilroy Was Here," wayyyyy back in the 80s. Tommy and JY still refuse to speak to Dennis (and vice versa), so I'm sure there'll be a lawsuit by the other guy(s) if either faction tries to release stuff to HMX....

I think everyone kinda figured REO/Styx was all we were going to get....

most of the keyboard-heavy songs were written by Dennis, and he's been persona non grata in the band for decades now. Although it would be ideal to see some Styx synth in RB3, I don't foresee Tommy and JY being okay with that.

I say that as a HUGE Styx fan. I sure hope Tommy & JY prove me wrong. ;)

"Mr. Roboto" made it into Band Hero, and it was even the original master. DeYoung just might be involved after all, not necessarily with his old band, but at least with the makers of the games to help get the songs he wrote cleared.

I too hope for more Styx, but only if it's DeYoung singing DeYoung's songs.

Incidentally, DeYoung was last with the band in 1999, only slightly more than one decade ago.

I dunno how much legal control Dennis has over his Styx songs, though....the copyright could belong to the band, and if Tommy and JY are "the band" now, they might be able to license it without having to consult him at all.

Still, at the very least, I'd imagine that Dennis gets ASCAP residuals for songwriting credits. Surely.

Right, I don't honestly know either. I'm basing my speculation on the fact the current band claims the original masters are either "lost" or "unusable," and that's why rerecords were necessary... rerecords that conveniently were only of Shaw's songs. And then the original for "Mr. Roboto" turns up, so... dunno.

But one way or another, if it ain't DeYoung singing "Come Sail Away," I ain't buyin'.

I think Come Sail Away should be on RB3.

Harmonies,
Three Minutes of Straight Piano, and a spacey keyboard solo after the first chorus.

I would kill (you know, on Call of Duty) for more Styx. I saw them last year in September and am goin to see them next week with Yes.

I personally only have one song that I absolutely HAVE to have for RB, being Miss America. Any song by Styx would work perfectly for Rock Band. Especially with harmonies and keyboard now. I would even love some live Styx. They are one of the few bands that really has any doctoring done to vocals in the studio.

As far as who owns the rights to the songs... We got a 3-pack on here containing rerecorded songs that are on the now available at concerts Regeneration Vol. 2, which has no label so I don't know if that changes anything, and on Guitar Hero we got Mr. Roboto. So both Tommy and Dennis have both given their blessing to rhythm games.

As for Mr. Roboto breaking up the band, couldn't the same be said about Babe? Or definitely First Time? All good songs however. I just, like it seems a few others as well, prefer the rockers. But I really enjoy the Kilroy was Here album. Double Life and Just Get Through This Night are gems that shouldn't be passed up.

As for specific songs:
Miss America
Crystal Ball
More Love for the Money (from the very underrated Cyclorama)
The Grand Illusion
Fooling Yourself (The Angry Young Man)
Suite Madame Blue
Lorelei

Mr. Roboto and Come Sail Away are a must. I sure hope we get some of them soon.
