Oh-So-Elusive Flawless Groove

If you are like me, and meet the following:

1) Mediocre (fake) Guitar player
2) Achievement Hoe
3) Too Lazy to Practice

Then have i got the solution for you!

Just follow my 12 step program to an easy 10 points.

Step 1: Plug in Guitar/Turn on 360
Step 2: Start Up Rock Band
Step 3: Go to song selection menu
Step 4: Go to Learn to Fly, by The Foo Fighters
Step 5: Select Song
Step 6: Pause song
Step 7: Turn on lefty mode
Step 8: Position mirror so that you can look into it, and see the screen
Step 9: Unpause game
Step 10: Play Like normal
Step 11: Rejoice when you recieve 100%
Step 12: Change everything back to normal.

And there you have it. I finally got my Flawless Groove, and you can too!

ADDITION:

Wanna make it easier?

Rubber Band down the green fret. And the entire song you dont have to move your hands. At all. Hell, i just PRACTICALLY GAVE the achievement away!!!

You do, but the bass line on this song is so simple its insane. That, and now theres no "upstrumming" involved, which, for me, usually makes me lose my rhythm.

Mostly because I rarely, if ever, play guitar. I only have been for....2, 3 days now? So I don't know the bass lines. Therefore, i took the first thing i found in the forum.

Sight read is a GH/RB for that being the first time you played the song. You're basically reading the notes on sight and playing to them for the first time. Usually Sight Reads aren't too great, because it's the first time you're playing the song so you don't know what to expect.

If you are playing with lefty flip on but playing right handed the game reads a downstrum as an upstrum, as it assumes you are playing left handed.

It does, but since ive pretty much *barely* beaten hard career, im not comfortable with upstrumming. It feels weird, which makes me focus on my strumming, and not on the song, and then BAM, i miss stupid notes. By lefty flipping, and playing through a mirror, you can play like normal, (chart wise, since the note chart on left flip goes o,b,y,r,g--instead of g,r,y,b,o)while down strumming, which to most probably feels more normal. That allows for you to focus more on notes a rhythm. And then rubber banding down the green fret on this particular song, allows you to keep 1 of your fingers on each of the remaining frets at all time, helping to prevent your hands from getting jumbled.

Seriously, there's like only 200 notes to play in the entire song for the bassline on Expert. Easiest bass chart in the entire game, hands down.

Maps Expert bass easiest song in the game to upstrum and get 100%. Did it first try.

I have problems with the upstrum as well, I don't have a Strat so my pinky gets stiff easily trying to do only-ups. I was just suggesting that people having trouble might try to find a song they are very comfortable with before going through something that(to me)seems a tad complicated.

I thought Maps was a very good suggestion also, such a short track with the bass only playing part of the time.

I have been a keyboardist for 20 years now, so the whole RB guitar thing came to me pretty quick. I have had RB for about 2 months now and can honestly say I am pretty good on the guitar. Working my fingers on the frets is so much easier than working them on keyboard keys.

But, my point is, the first song I ever "mastered" in expert mode was "I think I'm Paranoid". Now, I am consistently having 509 note streaks, 100%. Can't get any goldstars yet. Have to remember to go into OD.

I can play everything in expert mode now, excluding the last 3 songs (no dlc) which includes "Green Grass and High Tides". That song still kicks my butt.

I haven't tried any "Tricks" like playing lefty into a mirror, or rubberbands or anything. Might be fun though, to change things up, until I can figure out how to get XBL hooked up and running, for DLC purposes.

First and foremost; NIN is anything but rubbish. Figured I'd clarify.
Second, a handful of songs are ridiculously easy without the use of a rubber-band. [Maps, Still Alive, Dead or Alive, Highway Star].

Third; ... well, I have no third, actually.

Good find, I guess, with the mirror-lefty thing. Not to brag, but I think I got my achievement on Maps after the first or second try, the day the game was released. It just takes discipline to not alternate strums, down-strum, or whatever you do.

I don't really use the guitar, but I do know there are quite a few DLC songs that you can get flawless grove on easily. I got 100% on bass on Expert once, but no achievement unlocked.

I then realised after reading the discription, I have to upstream for the whole song, oh now I get it! I might try again soon, it's not that hard.

I already have it though. I got Flawless Grove and Fretwork on Maps. The guitar part took forever (kept missing one note...), the bass only took me one try, but that's probably because I like to play bass up-strum only on easier songs, it makes me feel more like a rockstar.

I don't FC the song, but I have gold stars, and I ONLY Upstrum (habit I develloped when my Strat started dropping random down-strums).

I only alt-strum on Creep, Thrasher, Shockwave, RTTH, and GGaHT.

I have a PS3, so I don't hace achievements - yet.
