Go the desktop, hit the Print Screen button(top right) then go into a program like Photoshop or Paint then paste (cntrl + v) then go to imageshack.us (http://www.imageshack.us) or photobucket.com (http://www.photobucket.com) and upload it.

Yeah, that sounds like far too much work. So I'll just describe it to you. I just have a picture of the fictional band Dethklok. Some icons sprinkled to the left, and a blue bar at the bottom.

I want to post m desktop. It has a GIF image on it and I still want this to be animated whenever I post my desktop, but if I just take a plain old screenshot, it will be a still image.
How would I go about getting a screenshot of it with the GIF still having it's original animation?

If you want the desktop and image to show up with the image animated you'll have to record your desktop using camtasia.

Here is mine, I resized it the normal size is 1280 x 1024. I made the background, but I got the visual style from deviantart.com.

Mine is simple

I choose black as my background color, then I centered this picture to the middle.

It's just the Rock Band logo that I colored and shaded centered on my screen.
