I just read the news that we can send in a top4 to harmonix @ the main site. If we're lucky some of those songs will be in the game.

Here we an make some recommendations for great songs. If more people send in songs from this topic then there's a greater chance it will be in the game

I haven't really given it much thought but I directly thought of Megadeth - Trust. I really like this song and besides some nice guitar work, the song starts with some cool drums. Megadeth proved to be great in GH1 en GH2 so I would really like to see this song in Rock Band. Also Megadeth - Angry Again would have my vote ^_^

Actually the best way to do it is to go here (http://www.rockband.com/index.php?do=/public/) and click on the picture on the left. That is currently the best way to submit. Have fun!

Lol, that's not what I meant :D

I mean we could discuss it here. Let me give an example:

I mentioned Megadeth - Trust in my 1st post. When others read it they might think "yeah, that's a good one". Then more people will send in this song raising the probability that this song will be in the game.

So this thread is to discuss which songs would be great. Besides, there are so many songs you are bound to forget one ore more great ones.

I know most people probably have no idea what these songs were, but if they tracked them down and heard how intricate they are, they'd know they'd give anything to jam them with two or three other buddies.

Another Morning Stoner by ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead
Gyroscope by The Dismemberment Plan
Cattle and the Creeping Things by The Hold Steady
The New by Interpol

if people want to rally behind a song, Ram Jam - Black Betty I tells ya! :D

I was actually thinking some Megadeath myself, but there seems to be so many songs of their's that'd fit RB that I couldn't choose.. I'll recheck those ones in the first post and maybe we'll have a winner.

Also, I keep thinking, "you can''t have a game with singing without Meatloaf!" but I'm not sure what tracks of his would work in a guitar sense though.. The Monster Is Loose comes to mind, but can anyone think of any others?

Pearl Jam - Alive

Hundreds will submit that cause it's pretty obvious: IT'S A F*NG AWESOME SONG TO BE IN THE GAME. Great guitar solos, fun drums (ok, not the best ever, but still fun) and great vocals.

Just wanted to double state that.

As for my own selection:

Knives - Fuel
New Blues - Joe Satriani (no vocals, but all of the instruments are amazingly fun)
Stare at the sun - Thrice (maybe not the best Thrice song to be in the game, maybe I'll change it later)
Fast Car - Matchbox 20 (tracy chapman cover) - my favorite on this list, I would sing/play it a billion times before getting tired of it.
One Small Choice - Audiovent
Wanted Dead or Alive - Bon Jovi - classic song, great guitars and drums, nice vocals, probably the best Bon Jovi song for this.
The Warmth - Incubus
Summer Romance - Incubus
Those 2 Inbucus songs don't need any introduction. I have an orgasm every time I hear them. Have no idea why they chose Stellar for GH1. Great song, but Incubus has a dozen songs that would suit the game better.

As for the Metallica songs mentioned before (whiskey in the jar and one). Come on guys !! I can understand One, but WitJ ?? Metallica has at least 20 songs that sound way better than that. Welcome Home, Master of Puppets, Sad but True, Enter Sandman, it's a HUGE list, I'll stop here.

California Sun by Rancid
My Brain is Hanging Upside Down(Bonzo Goes to Bitburg) by The Ramones

Just wondering if maybe this topic or the "Your Selected Songs" topic should be stickied by a moderator? Y'know, to cut back on the duplicate topics that are popping up, and will most likely only increase as the game nears completion

Well, I've tried to submit my top four on the main page about six or seven times now, and I keep getting the same error message. I've tried different computers, logged in, logged out, nothing. Oh well. Here are my theoretical four:

The Spirit of Radio - Rush
C'mon and Love Me - KISS
Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo - Rick Derringer
Do You Feel Like We Do - Peter Frampton*

* Come on! There's going to be a guitar, effects pedal and a microphone! They can make this work! Imagine the awsomeness.

Almost forget Deep Purple - Highway Star, I'm definitely gonna send in that one.

I know my list now:
1. Deep Purple - Highway Star
2. Rage Against The Machine - Know Your Enemy (this song has got it all)
3. Metallica - Enter Sandman
4. Megadeth - Trust

Too bad it can't be a top 10 though. I would really like to see Breaking Benjamin, 3 Days Grace, more from Metallica and Megadeth, The Exies, System Of A Down, Seether, Papa Roach etc.

Here are the four songs I entered...

Red House - The Jimi Hendrix Experience

Rock and Roll - Led Zeppelin

Sunshine of Your Love - Cream

Smoke on the Water - Deep Purple

Maybe some are obvious choices, but I just think that they would be extremely fun to play/sing if you had the full 4 people playing.

I'd love to sit down with the drum controller and bash out the start to Rock and Roll by Zep (and that's coming from a guitar player :P)

I know my list now:
3. Metallica - Enter Sandman
4. Megadeth - Trust

When I listen to those songs, they say things like : lukewarm, radio friendly, marketing, boring. I cannot see how these would even be in a top 20 from those bands.

Metallica - Four Horsemen, Ride the Lightning, Creeping Death, Master of Puppets, etc etc.

Megadeth - The Conjuring, Holy Wars, Tornado of Souls etc.

The Human Abstract - Crossing the Rubicon
http://youtube.com/watch?v=Ysox0Ea9CF0

Sounds good, definetly would be on one of the last tiers

Between the Buried and Me - Mordecai
http://youtube.com/watch?v=IUB_iDglVgQ

Liked it better than the above, but hey, wth is that crap intro ?? HMX, if you choose this song, PLEASE cut anything before 2:30.

John Petrucci - Glasgow Kiss
http://youtube.com/watch?v=t25AOSxZZkI

Not so bad, great bass, but the guitar sounds like: "I know what you are trying to do and I've heard it before a dozen times", besides, Satriani ownz him, I would have any of his songs instead.

John 5 - Damaged
http://youtube.com/watch?v=1uIlveXVX3E

Didn't like. Didn't like AT ALL.

Anyway, these are my opinions only. I figured that if you posted the link you'd wanna know what others think, please don't get offended or take it personal.

HellAshes
06-10-2007, 11:49 AM
^No offense taken. I wanted the first two songs in more the the others anyway. Although with Mordecai, that string intro is not part of the real song. The real song starts at 0:22. The hardcore part of the song is there just because it would be so much of a challenge. Then, you can have fun with the cool guitar solo at 3:38, and the awesome guitar riff at 4:34. And I guess I wasn't thinking with John 5, because it's an instrumental.

Michael Jackson? Because of the great guitar and drum solo's? Diversity is good, but a song has to be fun to play.

Metallica - Four Horsemen, Ride the Lightning, Creeping Death, Master of Puppets, etc etc.

Megadeth - The Conjuring, Holy Wars, Tornado of Souls etc.

I know what you mean, but I totally disagree. You prefer you're music to be underground, only 1st albums of a band (first is always the best) and covers always suck. But I just prefer music to sound good. You may want to buy new speakers if you find them lukewarm etc ;) I'm guessing you also like 70's music like deep purple. These are at least as "lukewarm and commercial" as the black album of metallica.

Btw, I also love master of puppets. But it would be a ***** to play :P

Ide like to see some really hard songs make this game for the xperts (im far from but I only played GH2 for about an hour) ive played guitar in real life for 10 years now and they need some bonus tracks or really tough songs but not just guitar like

Dragonforce-Disciples of babylon
Dragonforce-Once in a lifetime
Yngwie Malmsteen-Riot in the dungeons
Metallica-Master of puppets
Metallica-Battery

you know the real face melters

more anthrax (personaly madhouse is the coolest song on GH2)

I want music so hardcore that when this game comes out I want to see people on the news about how they put a hole in the wall throwing the guitar at the end of a solo or got their neck broke from headbanging so hard.

Thanks, I thought it was good at least. Yea I was figureing the Sappy from the WTLO set. I just love the solo in that song, classic Nirvana. It was really tough for me to decide between that smell and simple man though. Both are great songs and great fits, at least I think so. But if we could have added more songs I would have loved to see like:
It's been awhile (acoustic) by Staind
Would? by Alice in Chains
Be Youreself by Audioslave
Carousel by Blink 182
Everything Zen by Bush
Welcome to the Jungle by Guns N' Roses
Pardon Me by Incubus
All Along the Watchtower by Jimi Hendrix
Freak on a Leash by Korn
Fade to Black by Metallica
Savin Me by Nickelback
Know Your Enemy by Rage Against The Machine
Jellybelly by Smashing Pumpkins

Sunday Bloody Sunday by U2

Stuff like this....
