I know a lot of people have assumed (including myself) that because an artist like Aerosmith has committed an entire library to GH that GH then has exclusive rights to that bands materials, but is this true?
Is there still a possibility Rockband users could still up rocking to Walk This Way or Dream On? Or STP
Exclusivity probably comes at a premium. . . What are the chances those premiums are being paid?
Personally, I bought a PS3 at Christmas because I wanted a cheap Blue Ray player. I'd never even heard of Guitar Hero before I started playing Rockband. Add the fact that my Rockband controller is incompatible with Guitar Hero (HUGE MISTAKE GH!!! IDIOTS!!!), I don't think I'll ever get GH so really, isn't this two seperate products. . . what does it matter what song comes out where.

I really hope the whole exclusivity thing isn't true, it would be horrible for this genre.

I seriously doubt there's any issue of exclusivity going on. The only company I know of to have grabbed any exclusive rights for anything in video games is EA...
Just because they're both music games doesn't mean there's that much greater a likelihood that there won't be songs in both game. There already are songs in both games, and there probably will continue to be.

Here is my theory:
You can bet your butt that if Activision (Guitar Hero) had exclusive rights to a song/band they would be screaming that from the tops of the tallest towers. It would be all over their adverts, blogs, box art, reviews. Since they are not claiming Exclusivity, I conclude they do not have it.

So despite Slash's contract with Activision you don't think GNR in Rockband is impossible? Or Aerosmith? Or The Beatles?

Slash doesn't own the GnR rights. Far as I recall half the reason the band broke up is Axl made them all make sure they signed over the rights fully to him for the GnR name and song lisencing and all that stuff.

IMO its likely that we will see Aerosmith in RB but obviously not in the near future due to the launch of the bands game with GH . i read on another post that both Axl and Slash have to agree on anything regarding the band songs being licensed and merchandized but i also read that someone wanted´¨Hombres G¨ in RB so it might as well be not right .
PS : Hombres G is an 80´s Spanish Pop cheesy band if you didnt get it
