More than half the game is alternative. I think you'll be satisfied. Good Charlotte and Nickelback aren't alternative.

I like Everything but Simple Plan. I don't know the last 3 artists.
I really think 3 Days Grace would translate amazingly.
I never thought of maroon 5, but now that I think back to that song, it would really work.
No More Sorrow by Linkin Park is such an amazing song, but 30 Seconds to Mars, if I had to pick just 1 it would definitely be The Fantasy.
I like the list, don't listen to the flamers. We do need more alterative, but I think we'll get it. They've announced things like OK GO and Weezer and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, which is awesome. I even heard Dani California might be on there, but I didn't see it on the song list obviously. Part of the problem though is licensing, which licenses MTV or Harmonix or whoever...can get, and who they can't. It's not just about whether they want to put tracks in or not.
GH has been missing stuff not from the 80s-90s: good new alternative, and older stuff, especially 60s (and I personally would like to see some 50s music like Elvis).

And saying that nothing on this list is alternative is absurd. Music genres are a very loose definition. (e.g. iTunes labels different albums from the same band that sound very similar as different genres).
I have heard bands classified as a myriad of different genres, and I don't see the point in trying to segregate them so much. Its all music, its all loosely rock. Idk, I guess I'm not refined enough; I just listen to whatever sounds good. That's probably bad.

I'm pretty loose with my music too. As you said, whatever sounds good to me is what I listen to. It's why I was a little hesitant to post this. And to everyone, yes I know not all of it is "alternative". I appreciate the responses from those who flame too though I typically ignore them. If you're rude enough to shoot someone down without explaining why then I don't really care what you say. Thanks for the positive feedback Raine and anyone else who has provided feedback without trashing the suggestions throughout their post.

while i dont particularly like maroon 5, i think most of their songs would be interesting for rock band.

My god, I hate every single band on your list, except the Stevie Nicks, which seems tacked on.
