View Full Version : The "Made in Mexico" Award...

We all know your favorite songs, your top ten songs, etc, etc - in the game.
However, I'm sure there's that one song in the game that 'erks' you or makes you a 'sad panda'.
Not as a slight toward this game, of course. Music isn't intended to appeal to EVERYONE...
So, what is your choice for, what I have called - The "Made in Mexico" Award - that song you don't like/you know you wont like...

The winner of my "Made in Mexico" award will be.....
"Main Offender" by The Hives.
That song makes me a saaaaaaaad panda :(

honestly, of the songs i remember (i've listened to all; remember most of em) I think I'm Paranoid is probably the song I'm least thrilled about. And I kinda like that song. And Main Offender is a good song, jq :P

First, I would just like to say that I rather enjoyed the first Made in Mexico song from GH1..."Farewell Myth" I believe it was called. Fun opening part at least. But yah..."Yes We Can" was horrendous.
As for my pick for Rock Band..."Wave of Mutilation". It starts off alright w/ the music, but holy cow does it fall apart the second they start singing. Ugh...cannot stand it.
But...you don't see me out on the forums trashing The Pixies for existing, Harmonix for putting them in, and anyone who like the song for...well, liking the song, now do ya? It's my personal opinion and I'm not gonna get all worked up in a frenzy over it. I'll just play the song only when I absolutely have to and leave it at that.

Why isn't this the Red Lottery Award?
I guess I'm not that excited about Gimme Shelter, Tom Sawyer, and WGFA..... j/k :D
I'm meh about Creep (seems pretty slow), Cherub Rock (ditto, plus I don't perticularly like Billy Corgan), and Maps (ditto, maybe i need to listen to it more?). I really don't think any of them are of the same suck-itude as I Love Rock and Roll, or any of the more horrible bonus songs. In fact, I don't think there are any main songs that i even dislike, yet... aside from Hole. I don't like Courtney Love on principle; might as well put Yoko Ono in as well...

The "Made in Mexico" award should be for the most awesome band you'd never heard of before playing the game, not the worst song in the game.
Are You Gonna Be My Girl would be my choice for the worst song in the game, though.

I agree that Red Lottery < Yes We Can, although we're not talking about a beauty contest here.
Learn to Fly wins the award for me. Only song I just really can't stand listening to. I'm going to give Detroit Rock City a few more listens with an open mind, but it may be in the running to share the award.
As a whole, I'm really enjoying the soundtrack.

My personal choice is Maps by Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
Maybe I need to listen to it more... but the lethargic mumbling of "oh, say, say, say... oh, say, say, say..." drives me nuts.

Count me in for Maps too. Although really the song I dislike the most it the Bon Jovi one. But I'm sure a ton of people are going to love it. I just can't see people having a bunch of people over and them enjoying Maps.

And I literally live less than a mile away from the Rhode Island border. It pains me to think that I live so close to the area that spawned that monstrosity of a song. lol.

Maps

Okay...
I will agree that Farewell, Myth was a good song. However, to Guitar Hero Peoples, their most recent song is Yes, We Can...
...and after all, you're only as good as your last [song]...

My Red Lottery (I don't mind YWC) award goes to Maps as well.
But, that's seems too unkind to Maps. I don't like the song, but at least it's not Red Lottery.

Now, see, kids, this is why they don't let you pick the songs.
Maps is a great song, and it will be a blast to perform. After your party has been going on for a while, get the best vocalist in the room on the mic and let it rip.

my "Red Lottery" award goes to Celebrity Skin so far. the ONLY reason that song is in is becuase they needed another girl vocalist song. Hole is TERRible.

Main Offender.
I liked the song when it first came out and was (relatively) unknown. I got tired of it...
... and then it hit the more mainstream circuit and everywhere I went I was hearing it on local radio stations, in peoples' cars, etc.
I'm just sick of it by now.

Yes We Can murdered rhythm. Just listen to it. It sounds like a 3 year old mentally-challenged person trying to play guitar.

YOu want to know how to piss off your family/friends?
Play "Red Lottery" on Slowest in practice. Frickin' unbearable.
"Farewell Myth" was awesome, it's so depressing to see it followed up by "Yes We Can".
you know, I'm going to have to give these two "awards" to "Say It Ain't So" (I just am not a big weezer fan) and "Maps"... played that song on a dvd for a month when I worked at a Journeys a few years ago, if it weren't for that, I think i'd tolerate it more.

I really don't like the vocals on Maps. She sounds like a dying cat.
And Suffragette City isn't a bad song, it's just become very annoying because of all the videos with only that song.

Celeb. Skin - Hole
The first time I heard it on youtube I stopped the video half way. then came back two days later and listened to the whole thing... barely
I will probably only play this song once, just to unlock the songs that come after it. Then it will be forgotten faster than a red-headed step child at K-Mart. :p

But, no matter how much I hate that song... it will be a huge hit at parties.

Gotta to admit though, some songs which I would never listen to on my own or in the car, are songs that I wouldn't mind playing on GH...
Not sure why, but several songs that I used to hate, I tolerate because I play them enough on GH to appreciate them.

It's actually incredibly awesome at parties. Sure, it might not be your favorite song, but if you're not performing at least you can be part of the huge mob that yells "Wanted!" between "wanted" and "dead or alive." It was really fun at PAX :D

HOLY CRAP! How is no one mentioning the one song nobody gives a crap about?
I Think I'm Paranoid by Garbage
It's what Cherry Lips was to Frequency, Take it Off to GH, and Yes We Can to GHII!
Good bands, HORRIBLE SONGS!
Seriously I would've preferred the Cardigans if I knew a ***** band was a damned requirement.

If you didn't have such an awesome username and an awesome avatar, I would think you were a troll.
Just goes to show, they could stick a two hour Phillip Glass track on Rock Band, and you could find two guys on the forums who would say it was their favorite song.
Come to think of it, Phillip Glass could probably file a lawsuit. I think Megasus stole his note.

you're either mentally ******ed or deaf since you compared a doom metal band to a minimalist musician. for GH2 ok red lottery might be boring to non doom metal fans, but what i heard when i played that song was an awesome doom metal song.

This just goes to show that bashing genres is ridiculous. Everyone has their own favorites, and hate certain styles as well. Doom is a different breed, and I'm not saying Red Lottery is the best Doom metal song ever, but if you don't like the style...even the best may not impress you.

I don't know if anyone was bashing the genre, or even Megasus as a whole. I don't bash genres... I know there can be good music in practically all of them.
But, the first time I remember playing Red Lottery (I had played it before, but I must've blocked it from my memory) I remember curling into the fetal position and yelling to my wife, "I think this song is trying to kill me!"
I dunno, maybe that's a sign of good doom.
But, that's just me. If other people dig it... cool.
