I've thought about getting me one of those, but since the PS3 doesn't have any overheating problems or at least I haven't....don't see much use for it.

Works like a dream. I guarantee its running 10-15 degrees cooler. Mine isn't really for overheating problems as much as preventative maintenance.

It has a variable speed switch for the fan and it locates the power switch to the front of the PS3. Its nice and I recommend it highly!

What brand do you have? I recall hearing some scary stuff a while back from one of the brands, Nyco or something. I think it was for the 360 though, gave a lot of people some trouble. They may have had a revision since then I'd imagine.

Plus that wouldn't say anything about PS3 having similar issues. I thought about getting one early on, but I haven't heard of any overheating issues yet, and I've seen people who've left their PS3's on for months at a time folding. So, when i play for a few hours here or there, I'm not too worried. As long as the console isn't enclosed or something.

The Nyko was the brand. The connectors were plastic and was creating fire hazards. This was only for the 360 though, as the PS3 one connects to the top vent holes.

The issue has since been rectified and the 360 cooler comes with metal clips now.

Well since we are on the subject of video games/electronics. In the past month I have bought an HD-TV and Warhawk for my PS3.

oh yeah!! can't beat playing on a HDTV, I bought a HDTV shortly after I got my PS3...the difference in video is incredible...remember that comercial, don't know if it was Maxell or Sony, theres this guy sitting in a chair and the sound is blowing him away? yeah something similar happened to me but with video....:D

Does the intercooler make it quieter ?

No. Actually the intercooler is alot noisier than expected. But it does what its made to do, which is cool the PS3. Its especially loud when turned all the way up.
