So if you haven't noticed, a bulk of 90's and 00's songs have been announced with very few 80's and only ONE 60's song announced. Makes you think that maybe the remaining songs will be in the 60's/70's/80's era, especially more 60's.

we initially thought each decade would be equally represented, but they have said that wont necessarily be the case. so dont hold your breath for more 60s.

While I agree some more classic tunes will be nice, the decade does not make the music.

The 60's won't get another song. Just lump it together with the 70's.

No way, I would think at least 2 more 60's tracks.

Yeah out of the 12 or 11 remaining songs i'd say that only 5 or 6 of them are from before the 90's

I'm pretty sure you're both right, but it still makes me sad...

I think they're should be like a rolling stone, to bulk up the '60s lineup.

I really think we need some more songs from the 60's and 70's such as Deep Purple Rollin' Stones and REALLY more KISS.
Also some more Metallica

you do know that Highway Star, Gimme Shelter and Detroit Rock City are in the game, right? Or do you just mean you want more tunes by them?

I'm pullin for some 80s. Big time. Rock Band could really use some 80s. That'd be cool. :D

I concur with the more '60s and '70s sentiment. Classic rock is where it's at.

Even though it was in Rock the 80's, I would kill for 18 and Life by Skid Row. That song is just awesome.

18 and life was in Guitar Hero 80s so you won't be seeing it in rock band. Maybe Youth Gone Wild?

I'd like to see more 70s and 80s...particularly Working Man, Limelight, Fly By Night, The Spirit of Radio, Natural Science, Subdivisions, Anthem, By-Tor and the Snow Dog, Bastille Day, 2112, A Passage to Bangkok, Twilight Zone, Lessons, Something For Nothing, Cygnus X-1, Closer to the Heart, The Trees, Freewill, Jacob's Ladder, Red Barchetta, New World Man, Distant Early Warning, and The Big Money! ;) :D :D :D

There's already a Rush song in the game, so maybe (hopefully) we'll see some Rush DLC. I would die for Working Man and By-Tor and the snow dog

I really hope there are more 80s songs waiting to be announced. There indeed is a obvious lack of 80s tunes by comparison. I'm hoping it's not because Harmonix got burned out on the 80s after GHEncore. That would be a shame. I'm hoping it's because they're holding off on some huge tracks which happen to be from the 80s.
Just give me an 80s Iron Maiden tune, and I'll be satisfied. Actually, I think that if there's no Maiden song on the disc it would be an inexcusable omission on their part. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt now and assuming there will be one and/or having them be the focus of a DLC set or album. The timing would be great as Maiden just announced a 2008 world tour focused solely on their 80s material. Bruce Dickinson, the lead singer, is even flying them around in a Maiden tour plane. How hard-core rockin' is that?
A couple poppy 80s tunes would also fill out the setlist nicely.

i'm kind of disappointed to hear that there will only be 45 or so songs on the actual game. I had imagined that they would be able to put more, a lot more.

Why? DVDs can only hold so much information, and GH2 only had 40 songs. Plus, like GH1 and GH2, they have confirmed that there will be bonus songs, so we'll probably end up with a comparable amount of songs compared to GH2.

What about Static X? I haven't heard any of their songs as suggestions, that band is awesome!

Static X isn't horrible, maybe a few songs are, but most of them are good.
The Only is the only (no pun intended) song I see fit for this game.

For all we know, the final build could have the songs listed in different types of categories.

Not so, Gh2 had 48 songs on the setlists plus another 20+ songs in the store menu. DvDs do only hold so much information, but how much room can songs and any addition content take compaed to a game like Halo 3 or other games comming out this fall. DLC is great and all but I'd hate to have to buy the songs for insane prices like GH2 did. 3 or 4 songs for $5 is not worthwhile to me at all unless they happen to be Maiden songs. Even then if it was 1 Maiden song and 3 crap songs I wouldn't get it.

dude... there ARE going to be bonus songs. I'd count on ~65-75 total
so 45+ them is just fine.. plus literally 100's in DLC.

Well, if you want to be picky, Guitar Hero II had 44 covers and 4 masters. Rock Band has 30 masters, 3 covers, and 12 unknown at the moment. Quality is greater than quantity, and I'm sure they're spending either an equal amount on licensing fees or more than Guitar Hero II. I mean, it's only a three song difference, the number of masters versus covers is now flipped, and there's now twice as many required tracks for each song than was found in Guitar Hero II.

In a game like this I'd go with quantity over quality. Cover or master it shouldn't matter if the players will be playing the isntruments and singing the song.

I'm still hoping for Hendrix's version of All Along the Watchtower for another potential 60's choice.
Oh, and By-tor and the Snowdog must be the most ridiculously awesome song title ever.

Then you shouldn't be disappointed with the quantity in Rock Band anyway. 45 songs + unknown number of bonus songs and then plenty of DLC to choose from. There's going to be more songs than ever before to play if the DLC goes as planned.
It's not like they're trying to make the setlist small this time around. Just a few days ago they announced that they are going to incur more licensing fees because they just had to include those 5 last minute songs that they recently got licensed. And they really didn't want to drop any of the ones they already had licensed. They're losing more money than they really needed to so we can get more songs on the disc.
Also, the cover quality will still be as pertinent as it was Guitar Hero in single player on drums and guitar if the vocals aren't great. And for me, I'd rather have one master than two mediocre covers in a game like this. I'd take one Killing in the Name master in the game over two covers of the quality in Guitar Hero II like Killing in the Name and Laid to Rest. But that might just be me.

I would take masters any day over covers, unless it's an amazingly good band. Like, Pantera's cover of Planet Caravan, that is an amazing cover. But, most covers suck...however, I found that most of th songs in GH2 are decent.
But, some bands just cannot be covered well, and the master track is what you have to have.

You should probably go spend your money on something else. You obviously don't get what this game is about.
