i know all the old school rock has cool guitar solos and whatnot but some of the newer stuff would be awesome too, like some senses fail or coheed and cambria, thrice, the used, between the buried and me, old atreyu etc. etc. and before people start complaining that i'm suggestion emo and screamo and hardcore and start talking crap about it, i dont care what you have to say, i know good music when i hear it and all that is good music, and before you start bashing on it, have you actually sat down and listened to the intrcacies in their music enough to actually say it sux? cause if you havent then your opinion doesnt matter, but anyways back to my point, we need more recent music for those of us who werent born in the 60s and 70s :D

I've listened... and the only good ones on there are C&C and Thrice

Most of the list is modern anyway. And most of the classic rock fans are 13-30 on this board.

That post was horribly typed, and had some annoying comments. I think the Classic Rock fans have heard the "intrcacies" of the modern music, and still dislike it. The genres are different.

A lot of the modern alternative I dislike too. It seems to me like a lower quality version of the 80s Alternative, New Wave, and Post Punk. Some modern stuff is good. Classic rock fans just don't like the sound/genres of today. I bet it will start to shift late 00s, similarly to the rise of New Wave.

My favourite modern band is Flight of the Conchords. And they aren't even rock!

nah, it's not watered down, it's just new and different, but i guess everyone has their opinions, i personally like the new stuff, older rock songs seem to get boring and carry on for too long, it was good for their time but it is the 2000s already and we need to acknowledge that the music that we have today really is good, old school rockers are too close minded, they stick to just old rock and everything else isnt worty of being music, that's a very stupid belief, just because the new rock isnt like the older rock doesnt mean that it's not just as good

And "older rockers" believe that todays music:
Is too whiney
Has nothing to show one or two members of a band's skill, and When they do, it is mainly the singer's solo.
Has too many guitar chords and no catchy riffs. Basically, anyone can pick up a guitar, learn a few chords, and sing along and become popular.

These are the reasons I respect C&C, they don't do these things. Just for laughs, name 10 rock bands from the 60's-70's. Most good rock was from this time. This is a test to ensure that your experiance with "older rock" was the real deal.

sadly, this is the impression the MTV music gives people like you. the modern music i listen to takes alot more talent to play than that fall out boy ****.

Goid, good. But you really should look into some prog rock: The police and the best f'ing band ever...Rush, were prog rock. The beginning heavy metal bands are great too (BOC anyone?) But I wouldn't quite classify Kansas as rock & roll. Their best hits are fiddle tunes (excluding COMWS). But I still do love them.

rush is pretty good, i know coheed and cambria are influenced alot by them, and yea, some modern bands actually do have talent, not all of them are fall out boys

True, but you have to really search for a lot of them.

Kansas is Prog Rock, too, actually. They sure do love that fiddle, but they have guitar on the vast majority of their songs, too.

Plus, the experimentation with various instruments(See: Hopelessly Human, Magnum Opus), the unusual time signatures they used, etc. Signs point to Prog.

Yay, bring on another pointless argument about a specific band's genre!

I would have classified them as such. But I was referring to most of their songs off of their Greatest Hits album. I can't seem to find many of their cd's round here...

Ah, that's understandable, then. Most of those songs were pretty fiddle-heavy (especially Dust in the Wind and Point of Know Return)

Speaking as a Kansas fan, this screams, "Recommend albums to me!"

Masque, Leftoverture, and Point of Know Return are a good start.

Yeah man!

Though my personal setlist contained a lot of classic stuff, there is a real need for new music as well. My favorite new music:

Coheed & Cambria
A7X
Mars Volta (At the Drive In might actually work better in the context of the game)
Tool
RATM
SOAD
Sevendust
Dethklok (Small)

Any of these bands, and many more, are worthy and deserving. It'd be really cool to have the option of instead of bass, you could double the A7X or Dethklok guitar solos, for instance!!

hell yea man, some A7X would be badass and sum Chiodos and The Fall Of Troy, crazy all over the place ****:o

Thanks, Masque might be good to look into, haven't heard much of it.

My favorite band is more modern, but sorry, most modern music lacks the intricacies you spoke of. Popular music for the most part right now is just like any form of mainstream entertainment...it caters to people of lesser intelligence and because of that, it sells more.

Most bands right now have no more talent than you...hell, there are people on youtube who have twice the talent of scrubs like Fall out boy but they will never have an opportunity.

Oh and, go vote yes for Tool...they must be in this game :)

Yeah, am i the only one who thinks that a Paramore song would be awesome?

Is there a place where I can vote for songs to be in the game?

is there anybody out there???

the only place to vote for songs to be in a game is on these boards. Make a thread with a poll in it and have at it...but it doesn't mean harmonix will give a ****. The only big poll going right now is Tool and I'm pretty sure HMX would rather have made in mexico and freezepop than them, knowing their taste. Oh well :P
