View Full Version : It's like a virus

I have a rockband party at least once most weeks, normally on Fridays. Quite often I get people who have never played it before come, usually because they have no other plans and have nothing better to do. (Just the new people, the rest come because they love the game, hehe)
It's like clockwork, they come in, usually after we're already rocking, sit on the couch and watch and laugh as they see us play, good times. Then I'll offer them an instrument and they're like "No, it's ok, having fun watching, I can't do that". I'd probably offer them an instrument 2 or 3 times before everyone will start with the "Go on, try it, it's fun!". Well once they get that instrument in their hands it's off to the races and they have a blast.
I'd say about 90% of the people who fell into this category so far have either already bought rockband or have plans to. One of them is going to buy a PS3 and rockband because they don't have a console that has rockband. It's a virus I say!! Too bad I didn't make comission off this, lol!

Yeah, my cousin wants to buy my old 360 so he can get rock band(I have to get it fixed first) and my sister wants to buy it for the ps2, but she might get a 360 or ps3 so she can have dlc. One of my friends is buying it for the wii(he doesn't have a 360 or ps3). He knows about the no dlc issue, but he has a blast just playing it when I bring it over.
Everyone else I've played with has absolutely loved it and most have asked how much it costs(which usually gets a wince, but hey it's FUN).
Virus indeed.

My old roommate started playing RB first. Invited people over to play and I would say he has influenced at least 20 individual purchases of the RB kits due to his little get together's. My self included (had to buy one since he moved out and took his with him)

Had this experience myself, it is both funny and awesome to behold.

I have friends over to play it all the time. xD But they're almost all Wii folks (I have one friend who's a PS3 owner; the rest have a Wii or nothing.), so when I tell them that the Wii version won't be out until late June and won't have most of the cool features, they get all uppity, start blaming Harmonix, ask if they can come back the next week, and if I know them, they're probably going to buy the Wii version.
Most of my friends, however, are/were Guitar Hero players, so they're not new to this particular type of rhythm game, but it's always the drums that get them. The ones that didn't play Guitar Hero, however, are always entranced and get hooked.

Ditto. I want to see the commission schedule, please.
I especially find singing to be contagious. Even among people who play pretty regularly.
"No, I don't wanna, I don't wanna." Then they try it once and suddenly it's their turn all the time.
Rock band is like crack..

Yes, but it was totally worth the mild itchiness.
I conformed my little cousin into loving the hell out of GH and Rock Band. It's all he wants to do when he comes over, even though he finally has his own game at his house.

I'm ashamed to say that I would love to find a rock band group of people here in Denver. My name is Vincent, I am an addict.

Hasn't really happened to me yet - I have rock band nights all the time, but the people who come over just assume they can come over and play mine/don't need to get their own. ::cry::
Unfortunately this also means the same garbage songs all the time - we have different musical tastes
Character Customization is like the best thing since sliced bread. So many options :D

I'm currently living in a university dorm.
Any time I play Rock Band and prop my door open, the room fills up within minutes. People want to play, some just want to watch. Either way it's easily one of the most addictive games out there.

One thing I forgot to post in my original post is that I, too, fall in to this addictive behaviour. I already have rockband, of course, but I'm now itching for the new guitar, have plans to upgrade my drumsticks and to add tips to them to reduce noise. Highly considering buying a third party drum pedal for no other reason than it would ruin a party to have it break in the middle. Last, but certainly nowhere near least, just today I purchased a 40 inch LCD TV with full 1080p support.
My name is Chris, and I am an addict

although most of my friends love the game, i can only say i convinced one person to buy it. maybe my friends are just cheap or know that they can come over almost any day of the week and play it
