Rock band has become a hobby for me in every respect, including the money pit aspect of most hobbies.
I'm enjoying the hell out of the game, but out of curiosity, I began compiling a list.
Wonder how everybody else's "list" measures up.
Rock Band Game: $170
Guitar hero 3 (for wireless guitar): $60
Guitar hero 2 + guitar (wife liked the thinner neck of the gh2 guitar): $60
Real drum sticks: $8
Drum mute mod: $22
Omega pedal: $75
Drum Throne: $45
DLC: ~$150 (and climbing!)
Total: ~$590 (and every penny so far has been well worth it!)

PS3: $400 (yes, I pretty much bought it only for Rock Band).
Rock Band: $170
2nd Strat: $60
DLC: ~$50
~$680
All of which was money well-spent.

Omega Pedal (http://omegapedal.com)
And i think this (http://www.guitarcenter.com/Pacific-Drums-by-DW-DT700-Drum-Throne-101217099-i1137484.gc) is the drum throne i went with.

Xbox 360: $350 (while I lied to myself, saying I bought this for other games, I really got it because I wanted to play Rock Band)
Rock Band Game Disc: $60
Rock Band Drums: $80
Guitar Hero 3 (also for wireless guitar): $100
Misc. Hardware for quieting drums: $20
Plug and Play drum sensors: $50
DLC: ~70
Drum Throne: $80
And then, because I'm quite obsessive, when I really enjoy something...
Tama Rock Star shells: $350
Sabian AAX fusion 13" hi hats: $200
Sabian B8 16" Crash: $55
Zildjian K 22" Ride: $280
Zildjian K 16" Dark Thin Crash: $175
Drum Hardware: $220
So, all said, I've blown over two grand. Fortunately, I seem to be on the tail end of my spending for this hobby. Sticks and drum heads are comparatively cheap.
That is the EXACT drum throne that I got with my real set.

i think it would be a p. cool idea for hmx to sell a micstand and drum throne in like a pack
that would be pretty cool

Bought the ps3 and the game bundle the same day.
Wasn't happy with the tv, so had to buy a larger one with the high def for the playstation.
Then since I am impatient, a second game bundle for the guitar.
(everything else is still in the box).
Plus whatever DLC and such.
Don't even want to add it up.

Funny this thread pops up because I was just figuring this out the other day while on lunch break. Except I added more then just Rock Band, I included Guitar Hero items as well. It was interesting to me because when Guitar Hero came out I thought it was so stupid until I played it and now this is what I've spent because of my addiction:
Guitar Hero II w/Guitar for PS2: $80
Guitar Hero I for PS2: $40
2nd Guitar for GH PS2: $60
Guitar Hero 80's PS2: $20 (sale w/ coupon at Best Buy)
Guitar Hero III PS2: $50
PS3: $600
Guitar Hero III PS3 w/Guitar: $100
2nd Guitar for GH3 PS3: $60
GH3 DLC: Roughly $30
Rock Band: $170
2nd RB Guitar: $60
RB Guitar Skin (from GHSkinz): $16
Drum Set Pads (from RockBandDrumSoft): $15
Omega Pedal for Drum Set: $75
RB DLC: Roughly $145*
TOTAL: Roughly $1,521 +tax (+shipping on some items)
I dread to think of all the other related games and songs I'll be paying for in the future.
Yeah so, as if I really need to mention it, my wife hates these games with a passion.
*This includes DLC I haven't been able to yet will download when PS3 Store updates, and this weeks DLC which I will definately be buying.

There's a really big thread about how to do that here:

I'm not gonna list all the money I've spent on this cause only an idiot puts into writing that which he is trying to hide from his wife/girlfriend! :D

I actually just found that thread and a few others. I've been asking for an electronic kit for the birthday since getting rock band. So now I can put it to even better use. The stock RB kit is fine for playing medium/hard. Expert it just doesn't cut it. I made my own pedal out of a practice pad/bass pedal setup and tried the Vic firth drum mute pads. But still nearly impossible to nail solid fast drum rolls or anything. They simply do not respond like any of the ones ive played in sam ash.

Yep, you're absolutely right. Hopefully some company will come out with a better kit for this game, cause the RB stock kit just doesn't cut it for playing on Expert.

Unfortunately for me, you're actually losing. I didn't add my TV or real instrument like some other people because I thought they were not legitimate additions to this discussion.

DLC = 40 bucks, plus another 45 in a 2800 card thats ****ed up and isnt working, i been calling Microsoft for over a week now so they're finally gonna call me tomorrow night and let me know how to go about this problem.
so total - 680 canadian dollars
im considering buying the destroyer pedal, but to get it will run me 100 bucks and considering im living off my tax return money i dont wanna shell out all my money right away

Some big spenders in here. Loved the comment about buying a new house to accomodate the game.
On a serious note, I have been considering getting a hot tub, since I have back issues which playing drums seems to exacerbate. I suppose I could add the cost of that to my list :)
Any drummers out there have any suggestions for alleviating back pain while playing? Am I doing something wrong?

Yea I don't even attempt Run to the hills anymore because im tired of trying to tap ridiculously light to eliminate any vibration to cause dead notes, or trigger other pads.

I was just thinking about this over the weekend. I will only list the things that are *actually* RB related and only used for RB (I think TV's are a bit of a stretch).
RB Bundle - $170
GH3 (Just for a guitar that wasn't a Strat) - $79 ($20 already deducted for immediate trade in of game)
2nd copy of GH3 when Les Paul got sick (6 months of constant use) - $79 (see above)
Real drum bass pedal after 2nd plastic POS bit the dust - $50
Drum throne to end all drum thrones - $250
Foam to make pads - $15
Gum rubber pads when foam ones wore out - $35
DLC - $128 and counting
So there is a $806 in legitimate RB purchases. I have no idea what it has cost me in Kindle downloads that my wife gets because I play to much, but that is another question all together.
