I noticed that in GHIII if you miss a note, the song is muffled, unlike GHII where if you miss a note only the guitar stops playing. Will Rock Band be like GHIII and the song stops playing? Please Harmonix, don't do that and make it like GHII!

I assume that happened because they were using an original recording and dint have a seperate guitar track for it. They would have tried editing it in audio programs to lock on to the guitar's frequency or whatever, but obviously it can't be done perfectly. Also remember its an early preview, hopefully they will work on it more to better isolate the guitar track.

Getting only the guitar to stop playing is the whole point of the game. GH3 will obviously feature that. They won't put in the game a song for which they don't have the master records with separate tracks. There's no way you can rip the guitar off a song without being obvious about it. They will NOT try anything stupid like that.
They probably don't have the engine ready yet, but I assure you they will not try to edit any song to rip off guitars.

The same goes to RB. No master record, the music is out or is recorded again.

Pretty much everything vichnaiev said I was going to say. The songs for GHIII that we've seen videos of are masters, so the guitar tracks are already separated. If the whole song gets muffled when a note is missed, it's because the game's development is still pretty early and it's not running how it should be yet. It'll get fixed soon enough, unless Neversoft is planning to run the series into the ground.
