View Full Version : Least Desireable DLC

What DLC would you absolutely hate to see released? It may seem pointless and just to spark up hostility but if we can discuss it civily, I think it could be interesting.
Now a couple rules:
1.)Only bands that could even be considered as DLC. No obscure flute and bagpipe bands or anything weird like that.
2.)Be respectful. No bashing other people's opinions.
My picks: I'd hate to see Panic at the Disco, Poison, The Grateful Dead, Nickelback, umm yeah nothing against people who like any of this music though.

Only music I would "hate" to see in Rock Band, would be from instruments we do not actually have. I would not like to see a full on synth band or drum machine group, in Rock Band. If they play with Drums, Bass and Guitar, I'm all for it, regardless of whether the music is my taste or not.
btw, I listen to Led Zeppelin, Tool, Rage against the machine, korn, etc... and I would love to see Panic at the Disco, Poison, Grateful Dead or Nickelback in this game. There's alot of great music, that is outside of whats on your iPod, I promise.

Well most of any Pop music or country would be kinda lame, but I would still download it, because my wife would be super happy singing. Just being a drummer would probly get kinda bored.

A bit late for that now, isn't it? Especially considering Harmonix promised 18 or so tracks...
As for me, I always think about prospective bands in a positive light. I pretty much never think about bands I don't want in because there are way too many that I do want in.

What I meant by The Grateful Dead was that I'd hate to see more of it. I actually downloaded two of their songs the first time around to give it a chance and I just don't like it in Rock Band. It's cool for what it is but not to play in Rock Band.

Least desirable for me is metal. Not that I hate it, it's just bottom of the list for me.

04-13-2008, 02:11 AM
Not really a fan of metal in any stripe. I realize its a popular genre and to ask to not have it in RB would be ludicrious, just not my cup of tea and I'll get to save some money on the weeks metal is the DLC.
Specific bands that are possibly inevitable but I don't like? Coheed and Cambria, Tool, GWAR, well, lots really. I like tunes that are more melodic and less rhythm oriented.
Most of the time, I don't give a crap about DLC, or I get excited. However, I would find myself slapping my face if I ever saw Panic! At the Disco, Fallout Boy, or other bands in that vein pop up as DLC. I wouldn't download them, and I wouldn't complain, but I would be irritated because it's not something I like, but rather something I HATE, that made it into the playable list before my prospects.
I'm sure many have felt like that at one time or another here.

I don't really understand how you can not want more optional content for a game... If it has a fun chart, is a good song, or even will just result in hilarity when people try to sing it, it's probably worth it...
But, the thread does say "least desireable" so I'll throw a few names out:
Marilyn Manson other than Beautiful People or a cover, Slipknot other than Wait and Bleed. Again, both have good songs that I like, but most of the songs on their albums (the songs it seems HMX sometimes goes for...) I would not be so hot on.

i'd have to say slipknot, disturbed, godsmack, nickelback, linkin park etc etc...
but then again the majority of songs i'd like to see most people wouldn't want too much either.

I'd have to agree - please, no Nickelback or Panic at the Disco (or any of that ilk).
I'd be OK with certain Linkin Park songs (though most of their crap all sounds the same). It would be fun to sing "One Step Closer". :)

For me personally, the only "I will not, Not, NOT touch that!" music would be absolutely anything at all by System of a Down.
I. Cannot. Stand. Them.
There's something about Serj whatsit's voice that sends me into a pained rage. It's the absolute only thing I have definitively and with no room for argument forbade touch my XBox.
I know they're a coveted choice for some though, and more power to you. Should System of a Down DLC be released, the most you'll hear out of me is something along the lines of "Nothing for me this week." I know they're popular with some. I don't understand it, but I don't begrudge you having your own opinion.

Has anyone lietned to the new panic at the disco album. It has sgt. pepper feel to it. I just don't get why people hate them so much. They're not the greatest ever but just because they play a few of their songs on mtv doesn't make them bad.

Can't say there is anything particular I would really hate to see. I won't be purchasing any Country music, and there are a few other bands I probably wouldn't pick up (Wife would never let me pay good money for any G&R for example).
Ultimately I want to see a good variety so pretty much anything is welcome.

Fall Out Boy comes to mind. There are so many bands I'd hate to see that it may be pointless to even try and list them, but I'm pretty sure Fall Out Boy would still top them all.
And for anyone who says country, I have two words for you: Brad Paisley. If you think he doesn't have some sick chops, then I don't know what to say to you. A Brad Paisley 3-pack (depending on which songs they choose) would challenge anybody.
But yeah, no Fall Out Boy. ::shudder::

The thread should be renamed to DLC i would NEVER buy. I could care less if it is DLC. I mean if a CD store sold music i didnt like i wouldnt stop buying...anyway this is the stuff i would never buy.
1. Panic at the Disco or anyone in that genre
2. any thrash/death metal
3. Greatful Dead (this was clearly done to facsilitate hippy weed parties)
4. Limp bizkit
5. Any emo stuff

Like others have said, I don't know why anyone would hate to see any DLC.
Because there are things they'd rather see and would gladly pay money for. Nothing complicated about that.
These folks would gladly give HMX more money if they were given more things to purchase. "Don't like it, don't buy it" doesn't sell product.

Quite frankly I'm not a fan of DLC from bands already on the disc (though I understand the reasoning behind it). There's some great artists on there, but as I've said before, this is Rock Band...not The Police Sim or Boston The Game.

what's with all the Nickelback hate?
you know who I don't want to see any more of? the Ramones....am I the only one who can't really tell the difference between their songs? And none of this "you don't know music" crap, I know plenty, but there's about 1000 other bands that would make better Rock Band songs.
Stairway to HEaven...good song, but boring as hell to play!
What we dont need:

Rap
Fall Out Boy

Emo Bands
Nickelback
What we do need:

Doors
Beatles
The Who
80's Bands (warrant, poison, scorpions, cinderella, etc.)

While I like metal, I'm kind of tired of the genre at the moment, so I probably would pass up on any metal DLC (aside from Supernaut!) that is released in the near future - at least until I 'get into' metal again. I have been able to find at least one redeeming quality in every single song that has been released thus far, so nothing is particularly "undesireable" to me.
On the flip side, I'm on a real 80s alternative kick at the moment, so anything of that ilk would be welcomed with open arms.

Since I'm the only member of the household that has progressed to expert, I'd say that until others in my playgroup start to improve, anything 'overly difficult' would be at the bottom of my list for stuff I'd like to see. This would mainly be anything thrashy or very technical. Once my bandmates started to gather a little more ability and the confidence to attempt the harder stuff, I'm sure my priorities will change.

Band that would make me cringe.. PANIC! at the disco. Fall Out Boy. I begrudgingly downloaded the AMR songs, for the GF. But she knows better then to request either of those.

I take back what I posted on a similar thread (well, not completely, I'd still rather not have that in the game) (http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?p=493919#post493919).
The one Fallout Boy song on-disc is one too many. Same with Hole. Got the hint?
Also, no Rhianna, no Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana, no Avril Lagvine, and definitely no Jonas Brothers. Unfortunately, if those were available as DLC I could opt not to buy them but the PS3 I play on is my dad's and my sister would pressure him into buying them for her.
Oh yeah, and no Britney Spears. Remember, Sonny & Cher, the Stones, and Joan Jett sang "The Beat Goes On", "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction", and "I Love Rock & Roll" respectively before she ever did- and I'd much prefer their versions, if any.

There's a difference, you actually play the part within reason on RB, they don't chart in two extra instruments to make the solo look cool, unlike GH3.

Stupid techno music like Freezepop, I hate it. So homophobic.Wait, what? How does this statement make any sense at all? Not a single song or interview I have heard is derogatory towards homosexuals, so they can't be homophobic.
Also, as far as I know none of the members are homosexual or bisexual, so if you're trying to say you don't like them because you are homophobic then that also doesn't make sense. (Although you may still very well be homophobic, its just irrelevant to the point)
Perhaps you were trying to say that techno and (as Freezepop is more accurately classed) Synth Pop only appeal to homosexuals, in which case you fail at both English and awareness of the genres market appeal amongst heterosexuals.
(Its actually worth pointing out that as someone who isn't a closed minded bigot, I have a large number of *** friends, and the most popular music genres amongst them are hard rock and heavy metal. Only one of them likes synth pop. I guess by your logic that makes metal homosexual right?)
ON TOPIC, there are very few bands I would cringe at, and I don't think there are any I wouldn't download (if only to cater to my friends groups varying tastes.) I would probably have the least fun playing Nirvana, Sum 41, Simple Plan, although I still would play them if my band wanted to.
ACTUALLY, there is a band called Sludgefeast that is terrible, that tops my list :P

Well, I enjoy pretty much ANY kind of music, however, after downloading DOA to "just give it a try" I've decided never to download...Thrash, Speed Metal, Deathmetal or whatever you want to call it again, not because there is anything "wrong" with it. There is not a single EMO song in Rockband. All of the song in the EMO category are either pop-punk or pop/alt-rock. Emo is like Dashboard Confessional or Spill Canvas. EMO is not fast or upbeat and is usually acoustic.(As a radio DJ and a musician I thought I would clear that up.)
Now..to answer the TP. I dont have a single band I DONT want to see. Honestly. Simply for the fact that I LOVE nickleback, disturbed, panic, MCR, and all these other bands that people dont care for. That being said, I know that not all of us are going to be happy every week. Dont complain when you get a week of Post 00's pop-rock because When you get a release you enjoy others may not like it. HMX's goal isnt to make YOU (pointing to anyone complaining) happy, its to make all of us happy. Be complaining you are being selfish. And by saying, Nickleback for example cause its a popular hate, shouldnt be in the game, you are just being greedy. Ok, ill stop stating the obvious now, it just seems no one ever gets it.

For me - most of the stuff they put out is least desireable.
I've bought two songs so far, because that's all I've been interested in so far. Metalllica - ...And Justice for All, and Ride the Lightning.

My most undesirable would be country or Christian rock. Not to knock anyone who likes either genres, but it's just not my cup of tea (well, except for a few select songs, but I still wouldn't want those in RB).
For all of you who wouldn't like to see Nickelback, check out the song Animals, I think it would be a fun song to play. The same goes for System of a Down's Chop Suey.

Well, I enjoy pretty much ANY kind of music, however, after downloading DOA to "just give it a try" I've decided never to download...Thrash, Speed Metal, Deathmetal or whatever you want to call it again, not because there is anything "wrong" with it. And instead of running it down, let's just say, I was decidedly unimpressed. That's just my opinion. But, what do I know, I like Grateful Dead tunes.
There's a the problem, DOA is a terrible song, it's incredibly generic and just downright boring.
