For those that haven't heard the news, Led Zeppelin (or at least the 3 living members) are reuniting for a concert in November (as tribute to the late founder of Atlantic Records, who gave Zeppelin a record deal).
This will be the first time they've played together in almost 20 years. The rumor is that they may actually be considering a reunion tour for 2008, although Plant has denied any such plans.
The point of all this, is I hope someone from HMX finds their way to the concert and convinces Zeppelin to arrange some sort of DLC. Unless, of course, they've already made a deal, and are saving it for a big announcement in the next few weeks.
I know its been said that LZ is pretty tough about giving up the rights to their songs, but in recent years that seems to be changing a bit. Their songs have been in a number of movies from the last couple of years (School of Rock, Shrek 3, etc.), a TV show (One Tree Hill), and a car commercial (Cadillac). So it COULD be possible.
Right?

It is very possible, but we just have to wait and see

I don't think there is one person on these forums that wouldn't want Led Zeppelin in the game.
Maybe a certain song....
You know the one

if they did tour i wouldn't care or else i'd set myself up for massive heartbreak. even if i do manage to get tix they would be like $200 for the ****tiest seat, so no thanks. i'd rather go on living with the fact that it was impossible for me to see these guys in concert

Or they could just like, y'know, contact their manager or something. I heard they have these wonderous inventions called "telegrams" and "electronic mail" now.
That aside, it would make for nice timing. It's a shame they don't have a new album coming out, where their inclusion in the game could be reasoned with the point of free promotion.

Reuniting for a concert in November? Rock Band is being released in November! They MUST be in Rock Band!
Ha ha, you know someone is going to go for that theory sooner or later.

Question is, how much is Harmonix and MTV gonna dish out for a Led Zeppelin song?

Or, y'know, I heard they have this thing called sarcasm.
But thanks for taking it seriously.

In an interview on a OXM podcast the other day, Alex Rigopulos said that the "freebird" of Rock Band in the guitar campaign has not been announced yet. This makes me think that they're saving a Led Zeppelin song to announce as the finale for the guitar part, most likely Stairway. So I'd say chances are pretty good!

I hope it isn't stairway, it would be unfair to the bass and drums in particular. Not to mention the guitar work isn't "Freebird" level.

For the reasons that Tendoza stated, that's not likely at all. Stairway would be a godawful finale since the guitar in that is easier than in Highway Star and even Enter Sandman. The finale could still be a Led Zeppelin song, but you can just about count Stairway out as the finale. Really, the finale could be anything at this point. Hendrix is even possible still.

LOL I was thinking that a week ago, I mean it would make sense.
Rock Band has about 10-15 unannounced songs.
Still 2 months from launch date.
Led Zep is going to do a one night only concert in Nov, along with a release of a new greatest hits album and new TSRTS DVD.
There is 1 60's songs, Led Zep has 2 '69 albums.
Perfect timing for one of those, lets save the best for last song announcements right before we ship the game out. That would be HAWWWWWTTTTTTTTTTT.
Please god.

If they do get Stairway they should do a vid like the Highway Star one and they can start it off with the scene from Wayne's World where he's all "No Stairway? Denied!" then take another scene from the movie where he says "NOT!" then start the vid.

youre forgetting that the trend seems to be pick a popular track from a world widely-recognizable artist. and of course leave us drooling for DLC. i could care less what zep song they pick if it means we'll be seeing more.

I don't see how that had anything to do with what I posted at all. All I said was that Stairway to Heaven would be terrible as the final song in the guitar campaign. I never said Stairway isn't likely to be in the game in a different place or something. That's certainly still possible.

What's nuts is that even if we were to buy them, We would get into port off our cruise ship (already paid for) then go straight to the airport and fly to London to see them. That would be one expensive vacation. :D
Over 20 million have signed up to get a shot at those tickets already.
And Heaven and Hell (Sabbath with Dio) just dropped the price for tix here in Orlando cause they ain't filled enough seats yet. I paid full price on the day they were released :(
But then again, I got awesome seats. :)

They have a new greatest hits album coming out on November 13. Now it makes even more sence for Led to be in there, but I honestly doubt it. I'd love for it to happen. I'd probably die of joy if it did, but alas, it probably won't. :(

I was listening to the radio today and they said that over 89 million people registered in 12 hours yesterday. I was one of them. There are 20,000 seats and 10,000 winners. So if 100 million people register that puts your odds of winning at .01% chance. I'm so there!!
