View Full Version : So, when they were picking the songs, what were they looking for?

Did they try and have songs with good drums and then another with some good guitar in it? etc. etc. Or did they try and find every song with a good... well... EVERYTHING in it? Because bass is VERY boring in some songs in GHII and no one will want to play bass if it's the same boring bass line over and over. Hangar 18... IWBS... I'm looking at you...

they were looking for a magical pony named 'fun'

and most GOOD bands have fun parts for everything.

ex. he is legend, dream theater, symphony x, and TONS more. hopefully we will see some of these on DLC.

HMXSean said in a recent interview that they were aiming more for songs that everyone can get into/everyone can have fun playing. Atleast, for the retail disc I'm sure.

Yeah, and as far as that goes, theve been doing good. Im sure my mom even knows one of these songs.;)

Even as a "hardcore" music listener, even I have been happy with most of the choices

I'm just gonna use the bass guitar as the device i put any noobs that come round to our house on if it's anything like the old days.

"oh, you've never played before? get a load of some bass you lucky so and so"

The main 40/45 songs were picked in the mindset that they would be fun for every instrument.

Hopefully the question doesn't remain the same for DLC.

What about on WGFA, Bass track is wicked fun, better than the guitar I'd say...

They were looking for tracks that are fun on all four instruments, and tried to shy away from songs that cater to a specific one. They also looked for songs that most people knew, so anyone can recognize at least a handful of the songs and be able to play (and sing!) them the first time at the game (one reason why inacessable death metal likely won't appear on the main setlist). And, of course, you need songs that are accessible and easy to everyone (aka the songs that everyone complains about), as well as songs that are challenging enough for GH experts (the songs people are cheering about, like Highway Star and Enter Sandman).

Note: Sometimes you just can't make bass fun, especially in 90% of rock songs.

All songs had to have more cowbell to make the cut...
