View Full Version : 2nd longest song in Rock Band (including DLC)

If I'm not mistaken, Green Grass and High Tides is the longest Rock Band song... so what's the 2nd longest Currently? And is there any long marathon-like songs in the works(or have been potentially discussed)

I surmise a DLC download of the album version of "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" at the regular price of $1.99 would be financial suicide for Harmonix :)

I can't tell you for sure... but off the top of my head, "Working Man" by Rush is long, clocking in at around 7 or 8 minutes.

EDIT: Wow, I forgot. Metallica's "...And Justice for All" is longer then Green Grass and High Tides, I think. It's over 9 minutes.

EDIT again: Just checked... Green Grass is 2 seconds longer then "...And Justice for All"... so there you go.

Thanks! I appreciate the correction. I get so absorbed in the moment that the long songs seem to fly by too.

For the record, Won't Get Fooled Again and Foreplay/Long Time are both longer than Working Man :)

What about that one DLC, the complete spoken word version of the New King James bible? It was like a 75 GB download.

Next, Rime of the Ancient Mariner by Iron Maiden or 2112 by Rush, moohahaha.

Echoes by Pink Floyd

The top three long songs are:

Green Grass & High Tides
...And Justice For All
Won't Get Fooled Again

Now, while the long version of "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" might be suicide for Harmonix, there is no doubt it would be as fun as hell to play. :)

Ardius, man would I love those 2... But Rime has that 3 minutes of boring in the middle... though its all the more epic later.

I'm all about BLind Guardian - And Then There Was Silence. 14 minutes long, but the vocals would be epic to play, the drums, insane, and the guitar would never stay still, there's no such thing as a chorus in this song, so the tune would always be changing.

I'd put the vocals on tier 8 or 9, the drums on 9 for sure, and the Guitar on 8. (I'd say seven, but it's consistently difficult for 14 minutes, but there are no intense solos.)

I can never tell with Bass, I barely ever hear it except in rush songs and some Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Does Foreplay/Long Time really count since it's sorta two songs?

Anyway... I'd like to see "The Glass Prison" by Dream Theater. Would put them all to shame.

Those songs are somewhat long. The two longest songs on my ipod, both over an hour, are by Fantomas and Green Carnation. They wouldn't really work for Rock Band though. Some Dream Theater or Yes would be good. Perhaps Thick as a Brick, all 43 minutes of it.

I vote Dream Theater - Octavarium, 23 minutes and epic.

or Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence at 42 minutes.

Yeah, but they couldn't get the master so it's "As made famous by King James, and the vocal impersonator sucks.

I mean, he doesn't sound a thing like Jesus.

Amusingly, however, nothing like I imagined when I was young.

Perhaps Thick as a Brick, all 43 minutes of it.+1. But we'd need a voice pipe peripheral with buttons to emulate the flute...

While both good, they wouldn't work. Long keyboard intros.

A Change of Seasons would be great though. Or In the Presence of Enemies (full version)

There are a few songs over the 10 minute mark at this point, but all of them were released after 4/14/2008, which is the last time this thread was updated. :)

Awww, everyone's just a bit grumpy here in this community. It's actually quite adorable :3

But what always perplexed me is how do these people find threads these old to post?!? I mean, it happens quite often and I mean it's like there's no way of not knowing how old a thread is. It's like they go out of their way to find an old thread to post in XP

For the record, the longest AND most expensive song in Rock Band is "Veil of Illumination", clocking in at, like, 17 minutes and costing $4.

Hey, you gotta be fair to those who don't know much about the RBN. That song is in 2 parts at 2 bucks a pop. It's in 2 parts because of the 10 minute limit HMX placed on RBN songs and 2 bucks a pop because that's what the band decided to price it.

Normally I'd agree, but here's the thing:

If you have a question, it's good to search first. You might find a thread where your question has been answered. The idea is that you will find your answer and not have to post anything at all on that subject.

If you have questions that aren't answered in an old thread, asking them in a related old thread or making a new thread are both acceptable solutions, I think.

If you dig up a thread from 2008 to answer a question that was asked in 2008, you aren't really doing anything useful, for yourself or anyone else. Particularly if you don't really have any new information.

It's especially annoying when it's information that didn't exist as of the topic's last post, and is still outdated.
