What Can We Do To Promote Rock Band?

I was thinking today about how HMX and MTV are going all out promoting Rock Band, a tour is unheard of for one game.

Well who is to say we can't do something? Everyone wants it to be successful

The only reasonable thing I could come up with would be get Rock Band #1 on the gamespot rankings (works by most views?)

Anyways, any ideas?

I think they're already on the right track with demo's and word-of-mouth sort of activities.

Regardless of how good a game is, having a friend's recommendation or experiencing greatness first hand is the most effective selling point.

When I became a fanatic for guitar hero, it was the recommendation of a friend and trying it at his house which sold me.

well there could be different ways by like putting up forums somewhere different than here. Or like you said get rock band up to the nuber 1 spot on gamespot cause it just dropped 16 spots. Also it has never been ranked number 10 or lower or gamespot

I got into the first guitar hero through an interview with Harmonix about the game in an OPM (RIP) magazine. I liked rythym games and rock music so decided to take a risk and buy it.

I just try to educate people about it, on forums and people I know outside the interwebs.

Though on the forums I tend to see some RB hate, something about them liking GH better... which doesn't make much sense since RB is the true successor of the GH series, but whatever.

Well, I can guarentee that Hot Topic will be selling Rock Band shirts, so those can be worn among the masses...

Im going to be doing a series of professional photographs of my "band" and posting them on my portfolio site for people to see.

Theres this local combat arena/LAN center here in Orlando that might be holding battle of the bands for Rock Band and thats another good way locally.

Its all about being creative...there are plenty of ways.

I think the concept of Rock Band is enough to spread the hype by word of mouth. I know I have been doing that, all my friends know about it from me, and how awesome it is going to be. I have about 8 people lined up to play various instruments with me, everyone is so excited about it. I think the question I most often from them every few days is "Where is ROCK BAND?!!! WHEN DOES IT COME OUT?!"

And from there I expect they tell their friends and so on, it spreads like wildfire. If most people don't know about Rock Band yet, they will!

Yah, same way Guitar Hero became infamous, by people exposing their friends to it, then it just spreads. I know I played a friend's copy of the original GH, then the next week went and bought a ps2 and the game. Then I had a couple other friends over and they both went and did the same, and it just kept going. I'm hoping my b-day/Rock Band party that I'm having 4 days after release will result in a few sales...then I could send EA a request for reimbursement of expenses! :D

I'm gona throw a big Rockband party after the launch of RB or rather after the thanksgiving weekend (if the game comes out on Nov-20) with all my friends from work, I think seen and actually playing the game will get them excited about it. Because right now when I tell them about it, they look at me like I'm crazy...:o Of course some of these people never even heard of GH let alone RB....:D

Here's a few ways:

-Make your laptop's wallpaper a Rock Band one. When out in public, anyone that looks over at your computer will notice it.

-Ask anyone and everyone you know if they like Guitar Hero and if so, tell them that Rock Band is essentially Guitar Hero + Drum Hero + Vocals Hero - you can pick and choose your gameplay and purchase whatever instrument you want. Or you can get them all and be a band.

-Perhaps if a certain message board staff were to send out T-shirts and clothing patches to its members, they could act as an unofficial street team. Hmmm.....

Kind of random, but to answer that: Your post and Xzyliac's post were posted on the same minute. Yours ended up being above his because (as I understand it) you have a higher post count, and the forum goes from most posts to least posts in a situation like this.

Oh heck yes! I live in North Idaho... so there would likely be snow and freezing temperatures... but that just means we have to rock that much harder!
