I was watching some videos at IGN and well

http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/879/879549/vids_1.html

if you go to that link (i hope it works for you guys) you can click on the weezer duel play. The guy in the video is playing lead guitar and singing with a mic on the stand. So maybe this means we can sing and play at the same time on either certain songs or all? If this was already mentioned sorry, just wanted you guys to know :P

Yup, it's well-known, you can do this in multiplayer mode.

What happens is that you'll play as 2 players. Player 1 (you singing) and Player 2 (you playing guitar)

I don't think you can do this single player, as you can only play one instrument obviously. But you're welcome to sing along!

From what i have heard there will be no campaign for singing and guitar at the same time, however if you had a mic stand, i assume you could sign two players in and play both

K, was just wondering. So i'm guessing there is a way to turn off the "tapping" for the mic? and if you wanted to sing and play the guitar but do a tour mode couldn't you just do band tour mode? yeah you'd have 2 different people on the screen (one singing and one playing guitar) but you could be doing both. Or do you actually have to have 4 band members to play the band tour?

Actually, anyone who's gone into detail about the tapping says it's still there. You have to tap the mic with your head, is what I've read before.

As for Band Tour Mode, the old rumor was that 4 people were required, but nowadays it sounds like you can do 2-4 people. So yeah, in theory you can play world Tour mode by yourself with guitar and mic.

I remember reading an article that someone who played the game (at PAX maybe?) said that missing the mic tapping notes will affect your "notes hit" %, but it won't mess up star power/point earnings/multipliers.

Although I'm interested to see how it works with a standard USB mic.

I wonder if it would be setup to know that you're singing and playing at the same time...and if this is the case, then cowbell notes aren't required. That would make a little more sense then trying to bash the microphone with your head

you could play guitar and sing in a band world tour mode or in quick play

Correct, this has been stated from several first hand experiences.

To reiterate: Those notes won't ruin your streak, score, or multiplier, but you won't hit 100% if you miss them.

To conclude: You do not need to hit the mic with your head.

Did they say before that the tapping is really just like making a noise into the mic? So rather than tapping when necessary, you'd just make a noise with your mouth or I guess say something so it recognizes a noise. Rather than attempting to headbutt the mic.

I actually suggested that in a thread before too.

I suggested to just get close to the mic and "poof" really hard or something. You may get light headed, but that would just make it that more fun! lol

If it's just based on noise, you might be able to just blow into the mic in short bursts to similate the tapping... although it would be an odd dynamic to have a cowbell go off when I'm blowing into a mic.

Time to build a mic stand with a pedal hooked up to a mic-tapper. I wonder if I can find a mic stand at a garage sale before RB comes out...

Close. The notes won't ruin your streak or multiplier, but they will affect your score. Obviously, your score is higher if you hit them than if you don't hit them. But since it doesn't break your multiplier, the effect isn't catastrophic.

Ah, I was thinking that in my mind, just didn't type it right I guess.

But playing guitar and singing would be for fun. If you're playing seriously, and worried about points, you would just find a great singer for your band anyway.

Well, I definitely read somewhere that you can plug in the ol' USB headset (into the guitar) and sing through that. I think it was in a 1up.com interview or something. If anyone can find any info to the contrary then please, prove me wrong.

this doesn't have to do with the topic really, but did anyone else think that that "fill" in the end of the say it ain't so video kills the song a bit. I hope they get rid of those free fills, ESPECIALLY if more hits = more points. I think it hurts the song and musical aspect.
