Hi,

Just wondering if there's any way to tell the version of the drums (QM, EL or SL) based on the manufactured date.

I'm just about to buy and obviously the seller doesn't wan't to open the box to check for me, but I want to avoid getting an EL set if at all possible.

Cheers,
Brad

Nope, you can't tell just from the manufacture date.

That sucks then. Is there any way at all to tell before the box is opened?

That depends which box you're talking about. If you mean the big bundle box, no. But the drum box itself will have the model number stamped on the outside.

if u look under your little control area, like were the buttons are u should see a serial code, if its on nothing but the normal plastic u have a QM set, if its on a little bridge kinda thing then its a EL

Omg he's talking about the drum bundle. He can't open that and just look inside but I didn't know it would be printed on it.

Alright I have no idea if this means anything or not ( I suspect it doesn't....) but on the end of my Special Edition box, bottom right corner is printed " SLUS 21683"

Now this is where the potential conspiracy theory comes into it - my box set had SL drums in it.

I suspect the code is just a manufacturing code and I doubt highly that it is related to the drum set in the kit but who knows.

Can others with the SE bundle have a look at theirs and see if this code is relevant to anything in particular?

Cheers,

TEMPA

Alright boys and girls,

I just did some more research on mine.

The main SE bundle box will need to be opened but the drum box does not. See pic attached below.

My drum box has the serial number printed on it in the bottom right corner. This is the exact serial number that is printed on the underside of my actual my drum set - "34007SL"

The box also has "SL" printed on it after the long sequence of numbers but I have no way of knowing if that is related....

So by looking at the actual box the drums are packed in it appears you can determine what drums are contained.

If anything that is better than having to completely remove the drums from the packaging.

Cheers,

TEMPA

Right, that's what I said above. The bundle box won't have it on the outside, but the drum box inside the bundle box will.
