So far I've only played the Tony Hawk demo.. about to try the other one now.

The Tony Hawk demo was good.. It felt like a Tony Hawk game.. it just felt a little weird after playing the skate demo. Nail the grab worked well.. I didn't get a chance to try out Nail the manual.. I don't think it was available but I could be wrong.

Check them out if you want.

I really liked the TH demo, and since the game ships with a gh3 demo, i'm gonna buy it.

Alright.. I played through the Spider-Man: FoF demo..

I'm impressed since it's sort of being aimed at the younger Spider-Man fans.. but it's pretty fun.. I may rent it once it's out.

The FIFA 08 demo too. THPG might've been good if it weren't for skate.. Now it just seems, outdated I guess.

time to go set those to download. *grabs controller*

now... if only i had a wireless control to flip over my switchbox. :/

edit: downloading Flatout, Juiced 2, Spiderman, and THPG.

wow, even though there's only one download at a time, it REALLY slows down my internet connection on my pc. :/

I hate demo timers. What's the point in them? You could easily just restart the damn thing to play it again. But you only have 10 minutes with it as apposed to skate's 30 minutes. When you restart it, you lose all the moves you learned, causing you to have to relearn them, wasting time from your skating around. Everytime you restart, you have to watch an unskippable video in the beginning, and an unskippable advertisement in the end. It's bull**** how they keep doing this. Flatout wasn't timed, Tony Hawk's Project 8 wasn't timed (To my knowledge), but what's with the craze of timing demos? Early ones like Prey had no time limit, just one level you go through at a steady pace. The game was awesome, but I don't like the character you play as. He had an emo haircut, misshaped jaw, and a skintight leopard t-shirt that screams cawk.

Well they copied the Skate camera angle , the skater is slow , the game is more leaning towards a more HipHop theme , It just looks like THP8 except a few additions like Aggro Kick (useless) Nail the grab isn't that special.. when you get off the board you're slower than a turtle. I might get skate..

1.2
P.s. im going to go play some WarHawk

THP 8 was timed it just didn't show it. Think it was 15 minutes. Can skip the end, just hit the guide button and go to dashboard or maybe eject the disc tray, that works for skate but I didn't try it on THPG.

Heres my thoughts on it:

You start out in philly, and it looks just like it; a ****hole. You go up to certain guys to learn the new "NAIL-THE" modes. From what I've seen, the Nail-The-Manual wasn't in the demo. You get 10 minutes to explore the demo. Yep. 10 whole minutes. It leads me to believe that they don't want you to realize how much the demo lacks. The demo really doesn't show you anything. I'm willing to bet it was put up on live to keep the people from going to Skate. Anyway back to THPG.

The new "Nail-The-Grab" mode is just like the old nail the trick mode from Project 8. The left analog controls right arm and right controls your right arm. You can do about maybe 4 grabs with it and tweak them in a direction and thats it. No real point to it. Just another gimmick.

In skate, your constantly pushing yourself on the board to keep your speed up unlike in the hawk games where you accelerate just by bending into ollie position. In this game you can push manually but its only to get your speed up to about 30mph. Its called the "Aggro Kick". Say you want to clear a huge gap, or jump over a building (not out of the ordinary in hawk games), you would start to roll and hit RB. You will push and return your leg in front ready for a new push. When your leg is fully extended in front hit RB again and he'll push extremely fast. You need to keep rythym or you will lose your speed. Another gimmick.

The one thing I really thought was alright with it was the Rigging mode. You can literally take a quarterpipe, kicker, rail, or whatever you want, and put it where ever you want in the city. Say there is a car you wanna launch over. Put a kicker in front of it. Say you want to put a rail over the dumpster, you can. Its a really great idea that I would have fun with.

So after playing it, would I buy it if skate wasn't coming out? ....Yea. I would. Its not that bad but its a tired franchise that needs a re-vamp. The gimmicks are becoming old and theres not much more they can do. They might even realize that the hawk series is on its way out since they have guitar hero 3 ads in game. The only reason I would buy it is to explore philly and to hold me over for guitar hero 3.

I realized I hated this Tony Hawk game when I hadn't touched a TH game since the 2nd one, and I downloaded this demo off the PSN, start it up, and find a place where I can do a trick. Then I wondered if they had changed how to do the 900. NOPE! Still the exact same buttons. Awful.

Chirst Air was changed too.

From: Rune's Special Move on PS2 Left, Right, Circle, I think.

To: Just another move to Diagonal up and to the left twice.

You know they have (or used to) a way to turn off the "hold ollie, speed up" thing.. You actually have to push.

THPG will be a pretty good game, but the TH games are just too arcadish. Kind of like racing games, if you want a good arcade racer you'll go with Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition Remix, you want a more realistic feel you're going to pick up Grand Turismo games. With skating, if you want extremely unrealistic skating experience in a game you'll go with TH. If you want a more realistic feel and a lot more control over your board you'd pick up skate.

Yes but you still went from a dead stop to full speed with one push then you wouldn't push until you stopped. Still awful.
