i'm sure it did happen. Kids are hella prone to developing those skills at an early age. I remember when guitar hero 2 came out, this like 9 year old kid did Psychobilly freakout on exper, 5 star'd it and did like 98 or 99% on it. vid is on youtube somewhere. When you're young you can develop those skills are can get very good at it. Developing those skills later on it takes a lot more time and energy. I know when i started with guitar hero, i was so bad on easy, now i rock expert. samethign with rockband, sucked big time on easy drums, now i cruise on hard and am building up on expert

That kid is a freak. A freak of mother nature is what he is.
I have a 6 year old nefew, and I'd consider him of average intelligence, but he could NEVER play like that. At that age, the typical kid does not have the brain power, never mind the hand-eye coordination to pull that stuff off. On easy and maybe as much as hard, but expert? crazy.
The guitar video looks a bit suspect. You can't see his left hand at all, and sometimes it looks like his right isn't doing anything when it should be... but that could just be attributed to the camera and/or camera work.
For all we know there is some dude standing off camera who is acctually playing.
Except for the drum vids. He is definately savant-ing his way through those. BUT, he could still have a pedal wench.. it doesn't look like he is hitting a pedal at all in RttH.

OK... I'm probably just jealous... but still. Those skills are not ordinary by any means.

My niece and nephew couldn't manage. I think you have to be parent that loves video games and gets your kids into it right away. My sister and brother-in-law don't play video games, so that's why I can't imagine them taking it on.
But considering kids can learn two or three languages fluently within the first four or five years of their lives with complete ease, it's not any surprise that they could also learn video games as well, even complicated ones.
This is also why I plan to get my kids a first act guitar or drum set. Start em early. They'll suck it up like a sponge.

The kid playing the drums on expert in the youtube clips isn't playing the pedal though. Notice he never misses the pedal hits, but misses tons of the other notes....

I think that's cool. I think you guys are jealous. But yes, we need a link for that 5 year old (NOT the 6 year old)

Yes he is. In the Wonderwall video you see him playing it at the beginning.

i find it totally believable that a 5 year old could do that. My neice visited me recently, she is nine and the only game she plays is nintendogs. She jumped on the rockband drums and within 2 hours was playing most songs on medium in the high 90 percentile. She had great independent limb coordination and hitting most of the rhythym transitions without even flinching. i made her play through GGaHT to earn a Coke. She did it laughing the whole way. I'm sure with a couple more days practice she would be playing on expert. Children definitely have a greater capacity to learn new things quickly.
