Simple question: how are you guys gonna approach playing this game?

I don't think there's a right or wrong method to approach it.

Me personally, I think it would be best to avoid vocals until playing through with the other instruments. The logic being if you hear the song a few times first, it would be easier to sing along with. (does not apply if you are already very familiar with the band/song)

I know with me, I will probably try the guitar out at first to get the feel of it, and then hit the drums.

I guess for the solo modes I finish one before the other... but you're missing an important option... forming a rock band and completing the world tour as a group!

I probably won't get to finish the tour with the same friends I start it with, but I'm planning on making a trip around the rumored Nov 20th release day(earlier would be fine too...) and showing the game off to all my friends, in an effort to get them to pick up at least one instrument and the game(and a 360) so that we can play together over Live ;)

The fact that Culdcept (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Culdcept_Saga)will be coming out for the 360 in January will help my cause... we played the PS2 version like crazy.

I'm assuming everyone is gonna get a group together, either with their friends or over online play. :)

By the end of the year, everything. I will lose all of my current social life to this game. I can just tell......OH WELL!

Seriously... my productivity has already been killed just getting excited about this game and listening to all the songs... when it actually comes out the only time I won't be playing solo is when I can get people to play as a group with me ;)

I guess since I've stopped doing homework already, I might be dropped out of this semester by the time the game releases ;)

I spend most of my free time on the RB forums nowadays, so, that'll probably go bye-bye for the first few weeks of Rock Band greatness.

Chances are, my bro-in-law will come over, we'll play rock band for days upon days, my wife will play a bit, another friend will come over and play a bit, and we'll do some World Tour together, and then the girls will get bored, and bro in law and I will continue to play. for more days upon days.

And then when he goes home, I'll get to play career modes.

Hmm... probably the first the that I will do is go through the world tour with all my buddies, periodically switching instruments so everyone can get a feel for them. That's what I'll be doing most of the time. Then, whenever they're not around I'll make my way through the solo campaign! Can't wait!

I'm probably going to start on drums, then when I get stuck play the guitar tour to unlock songs, then play online a bunch for a band tour, then learn to do bass+vox (gotta pick my songs carefully: Tom Sawyer good, Gimme Shelter OMG hard).

With 3 of my mates, although I am mighty tempted to try drums/guitar + mic. I've been playing drums for a while, one of my friends has been undergoing vocal training for several years now, and we all love playing Guitar Hero, so getting this game is a no-brainer for us.

Drums on Medium
Guitar on Hard
Drums on Hard
Guitar on Expert
Drums on Expert

That will be my main plan of attack, there will be some mixing up. Once i've done Drums on Hard I'm gonna begin online play.

I'm definitely starting out on drums. As it's the newest thing to me. I've been playing the guitar parts for almost 2 years now. And I've tried Karaoke Revolution before,...and i can't sing. Once the adrenaline wears off on drums, I'll start Guitar on hard and play through the single-player game. Probably switching off between Drum single-player on Medium and Guitar on Hard. Then get into multiplayer online.

Mix and match what songs and what instruments

I will touch on all the instruments of course, but after getting into a couple of songs for each instrument, I will probably take care of Guitar -> Drums -> Vocals in that order.

But I will probably being multitasking everything.... :P

im definitely gonna play some single player drums cuz to me that's the most novel part of this game. i'll split some time jamming with friends, who will likely make me sing. i probably wont be going online much until i can handle all aspects of the game pretty well. im behind all of you since i dont have much experience playing GH.

I know I'm insane, but I'm starting with drums on expert, and guitar on expert, and go from there.

I'm going to pull out the drums, toss aside the other stuff, and work up to Tom Sawyer so I can play it on Expert.

Because it's going to be the most fun I've had in a video game in a long time.

Also me, my friend Jim, his GF, and my wife will be starting our much-anticipated world tour.

Win.

I go Guitar, then drums, then vocals, then guitar+vocals in a co-op career.:D
