Retrieving Avatars from Websites

Every picture file that I've tried to put in the "Option 1 - Enter the URL to the Image on Another Website" form I get "Retrieval of remote file failed" what gives?

Have you tried downloading the pic to your computer then loading to a free online photo sharing website? I use photobucket and that seems to work.

I already know I can do that but I want to also be able to just link to the picture without uploading it myself. I think the script isn't working, it hasn't since I first joined. Thanks for trying to help though.

I discovered the issue here and have a fix for it, but it hasn't made it out into the live site as of yet. I don't have a time table for when that will happen, but some day.
