I feel pretty proud that we managed to keep a lot of the good quirks in Rockband. For example, early on there was a bug where you could see the arena behind the tracks. We were going to fix the problem, but we liked it so much we decided to run with it.

I was under the impression they were transparent from the very start, not originating from a bug. I'm glad they went with the transparency idea after all. I like the idea of trying to keep the arena as much in view as possible.

This blog gives some really cool insight into the developing of games and keeping unique styles in them. It's a short read, but I love seeing this cool behind-the-scenes info from Harmonix that you just don't see from other developers.

What do you mean Transparent Notes? I don't remember seeing anything like that, any videos or pictures?

He means like the fretboard that shows all the notes. It's somewhat transparent and not completely solid like it was in the GH series. So you can sort of see what is going on in the background through the "fretboard" and it that is hilarious that it was a bug because I noticed that with that 5 minute video of the collection of some of the songs on expert for guitar from Game Informer and I thought that it looked really cool.

Yeah, I had assumed that the transparency was a solution to show more of the background animation in the face of two new instruments covering up more screen real estate.

Sometimes you just come along ideas like that by accident.

That's what Alex said to Game Informer.
