Something that has bothering me since ive first heard this song and ive always wanted to know the CORRECT answer and not just someones guess....How is Richie Sambora making that noise at the beginning of Living on the Prayer with his mouth? what is that thing...i know its a stupid question but i have to know.

it's a voice modulator, it takes the sound in through the tube and distorts it. The Scorpions use the same thing from time to time.

i hope it hasn't been bothering you too long, the song is 20 years old. LOL

It's called a Talk Box, Peter Framton is big on using one as well, basically it's an effects pedal that uses a plastic tube that runs up the mic stand. The person using it places the tube in his mouth, while playing the guitar, the performer talks into the tube creating the sound you hear.
