It was mostly reiterating the obvious, but it was good to watch anyway.

For those not wanting a quick summary of the review:

Songs/DLC: RB over GH3
Hardware: GH3 over RB
Replay Value: RB over GH3

Best conclusion I can draw is to play RB and bring in your GH3 guitar if possible.

I don't know about his take on the guitars though. Yea, there were problems with some gamers' strums, but overall i think the high frets are cool and to me, the GH guitars feel cheaper. Just my take.

I really didn't agree on the Les Paul being a superior guitar but that's because mine broke. Both the strum bar and the detachable neck caused me problems on my les paul.

Stratocaster is still going strong after three months and I'm not exactly easy on my equipment....

While I agree with the their review in general, I'm not sure I can agree with them saying that the GH3 equipment is better. I went through three, count them up, three les paul guitars in one month. One of them didn't even turn on right out of the box! As for the Explorer... that thing is junk. Mine sits in my closet never to see sunlight ever again.

The Rock Band instruments are notorious for breaking and my drums and bass pedal have broken already. However, there are more instruments in Rock Band and it ups your chances that something might fail with heavy use where as the GH3 only has one. :)

I'd still rather have my Rock Band because playing the drums rules.

Yeah, I agree with him, although he neglected to mention the problems that the Les Paul has with the detachable neck and the buttons that choose by themselves, if and when they feel like working. ;)

That being said, my Strat has resided in the basement since I got the game in November, and the two Guitar Hero guitars are the only ones I use. :)

gotta agree with this review end to end. Besides the broken drum pedal i've had and the broken whammy on the strat it comes down to this; My Les Paul broke recently and I consider that a real problem. My strat with the broken whammy got sent back to me with a broken tilt sensor and I havent' even felt it worth it to send it back since no one plays it.
But it's nice that everything else is in rock bands favor no matter what.

Or be one of those lucky few, like me, who've had their equipment for a long time and nothing's gone wrong with it at all. Rock Band equipment is very inconsistent from box to box, but if you're lucky you'll end up with a guitar that's head-and-shoulders above the Les Paul or Explorer.

Really lucky.

I wonder if this problem is still happening today with RB equip?

Why did he say that GH3 is more difficult? GH3 has the game engine which makes messing up ok and RB has Thrasher! Come on! Also Screaming for Vengeance along with Working Man, GGHT, Bang Camaro, etc. I mean.. Come on1!@>@$#!%34

The equipment's a problem, but now that I have a 3rd gen strum bar, I greatly prefer the Strat to the Xplorer. I don't play the background track loud enough to drown out the annoying clicking on the Xplorer, and the Xplorer just feels too small. And it works just fine--I've 5-starred Ride the Lightning on Expert with the 3rd gen Strat. In general, I'd say the Red Octane controllers are maybe slightly better if you care more about your score than the feeling of simulating guitar playing, but otherwise the 3rd or 4th gen Strat is a much better controller.

And yeah, GH3 is more difficult in a few places, but that's because they put in ridiculous songs with ridiculous notecharts. That makes it difficult, but not fun difficult. Ride the Lightning, Shockwave, Working Man, GG&HT--those are all fun difficult. Devil Went Down to Georgia (full version), and especially Raining Blood and TtFaF, are just frustrating. A number of other GH3 bonus songs have similar notechart silliness, like Mauvais Garcon and Take This Life.

Yea the Xplorer is smaller, but I do agree with the reviewer's assessment of the strum. The Xplorer one is simply better..noiser, but better IMO

Amen to that. It's pricey, but it's hands-down the best setup I've stumbled across.
