I'm done with the xbox360... 4 hardware failures in 18 months and now MS refuses to transfer the licenses of my DLC (64 tracks) as I bought another xbox, rather than wait for their RMA business. Screw 'em... I bought a PS3. If I have to buy that DLC again, Microsoft is not getting my money twice.

With the rant out of the way, I'm looking for someone with all of the rock band gear for PS3 that might be interested in trading for the xbox 360 kit.

I live just outside of Kansas City, if you're close by and wanted to swap in person. I'm sure shipping could be arranged if you're not.

I feel for you dude. I really don't understand at all why MS treats their customers the way that they do. It's really crazy that they actually punish their own fanboys that went and "upgraded" to an elite system by telling them they have to buy everything again.

I'm on my 3rd 360, and am currently on day 20 of the 30-day wait for a callback from MS about my content being relicensed. Can't say I'm not skeptical about it.

The failure rate of XB360s is one of the large reasons keeping me from buying one (aside from the fact that the PS3 and Wii (as well as PSP and DS) are keeping me plenty busy with games...so I don't need anything else). If I did own both a PS3 and XB360 though, I'd undoubtedly get a game like Rock Band for PS3. I rather have stable hardware more than anything when playing a game like that.

Sorry to hear about the bull**** that Microsoft is putting you through.

I think if you've bought it on the 360 it should be available on the PS3 too. I'm pretty close to getting rid of my 360. I'm sure it's about to break again, wich would be the fifth time,as I'm getting constant unreadable disc errors (not covered by 3 year warranty) but don't want to buy all the songs again on PS3. I wanted it on PS3 to begin with but the $3 per song wasn't acceptable but now that they're fixing that.

your hard drive isnt part of the system and obviously it can be moved..... and if you can get online to download things then you can get online to play your DLC on any game already downloaded.......

Um, Microsoft has been ripping people for ages, and they do so because people keep paying them. Come on, paying to play online? That idea was rid of back in the mid-late 90's. Microsoft started it back up again with the Xbox and people lined up like sheep regardless.

And I say this with the utmost sincerity with no disrespect to Xbox/360 users, because I inevitably ended up paying for a Live account as well. *puts on his sheep outfit, paid for by MS*

But after paying for online use, I still find it absurd the other things they rip you off for (like paid for avatars and wallpapers... good lord).

p.s.
On the topic, though, like said above, I thought the licenses and tracking of your downloads was made so by your LIVE account. As long as you still have your live account, I would think you'd be able to redownload any of your songs. If you create a new profile account, obviously you won't. Could be wrong though, haven't tested it.

Yeah, all the DLC works when I'm on live.

The problems is... well, first of all, I shouldn't need permission to play something that I've paid that much green for.

More problematic... I take RB out and about quite often and usually I can't get on live.

So... f*ck MS. I've not used their crappy software in years for these reasons, I guess I'm just stupid for buying the xbox.

It was? What about every ISP in the world that makes you pay to use their service to get online? Or Blizzard for charging per month for WoW? Or Sony for charging per month for EQ/EQ2/etc.? Or Bioware for charging per month for NWN/KotR? Need I go on? ;)

Um, are you serious?... you're citing MANY different things and completely separate factors.

First of all, you already are paying for your internet service, and then you pay for XBL service ADDITIONALLY. Your example regarding ISPs only would make sense if one or the other was free. Also, if you played an MMO for the 360, you're now paying for Internet service, XBL service, AND the monthly fee for the mmorpg.

Secondly, MMORPG's are optional games that you pay for if you actually want to play that game, and you're basically paying for a game that never ends that is in constant need of service and staff. If you want to play that game, that's fine. Your example of MMORPG's, like the ISPs, would only make sense if an MMO on the 360 was free (or at least discounted compared to the PC versions).

Both those are completely different than being forced to pay to play online for any game - or heck, not even games or online play. Just for having the online service in general, like being able to get firmware updates, and game updates as such. When you take that into account, it's even worse than what I was talking about.

What I was citing, was several game studios and companies back in the mid to late 90's tried to make services where you had to pay to play their games on the PC (before consoles even had internet access). This ended around the time of C&C, Quake and Blizzard's introduction of battle.net, where being able to play your games online for free made your titles more appealing, and thus increased sales. It didn't start up again until the Xbox, and it has been the only game system that has done so.

actually though his fact may have been flawed his point is quite valid. for games like MMO you pay for a service and for xbox live you pay for a service, wheather everyone chooses to partice in things offered is up to them to decided but that money does get us free shows, free themes, free games, and many many oportunities such as playing with celebs and many xbox live exclusive contests and give aways. SO his notion of others charging for an online service is no different in this case. An ISP in the same vein charges for a service as well but in a different regard. Many game sites like IGN have a monthly fee to gain access to content others can not obtain, this is also seen in Xbox live with things like the current time exlusive of GTA4 content. our payments allow us to recieve things like this, that others will not recieve....

[edit: also xbox is not the only system with pay to play, it has been added through cable companies now as well as verizon and now is also implemented by online gaming sites that allow you to download any number of games and play them for a monthly fee, so xbox is not the only one in the arena my friend, things have changed since the 90's]
