It's going to happen sooner or later. I forget who, and where it is. But someone higher-up at Harmonix said "Absolutely!" when they asked if there was a possibility of a Wii Rock Band. It'll get out, but just not on Release day for the 360 and PS3 version.

It will happen. Alex said it will. But it is nowhere in the near future.

I'm assuming when this comes out, it will be like the PS2 version of Rock Band and not have the online features. If it does, you probably can play as a band, but I doubt you can download the new songs since officially you can only have a 2GB SD Card in the Wii, so I'd imagine that will fill up quick. Madden 08 for the Wii is lacking in online features when compared to the 360 and PS3 versions, and EA makes both Rock Band and Madden, so I don't think much will change between now and November as far as EA's online relationship with the Wii.

GHIII and a million others go live this fall. I think for sure, with Harmonix being so famous with party and family games, that Rock Band will be online.

If RockBand came to Wii I wouldnt need a 360 anymore :D
Anyways, I think its possible and it definatly could be online (Gh3Wii has online) but without any official anouncement I wouldn't hold my breathe, it could be a long wait.
Best and cheapest route for someone sans 360 or PS3 to play RockBand is to buy a cheap PS2.

Odds of Rock Band hitting the Wii? Rock Band will end up on the Wii there is no doubt in my mind, especially since it is going to be on PS2. The only real question is, is how the Wii version is going to be compared to the PS3 and 360 versions.

Another concern is how populated the Wii version will be online... if the other versions all hit this year and the Wii version isn't even announced yet... anyone who owns a PS2/PS3/360 as well as a Wii will probably pick it up this season.
I know I am... RB is a huge part of what sold me on the 360, I couldn't stand the idea of waiting to get it on the Wii, and then having nobody to play with and no DLC :p

Yes. It will happen. Give it a few more months - March?

It would look like a huge boom in products moved. Wii is the second highest owned next gen console right now, quickly moving up to the 360. Although I think I may keep RB for the 360. I'm an Achievement whore and I need my fix. And if the Wii is going for a broader audience, wouldn't Harmonix want it for the Wii?

I think the Wii gets screwed by it's own people. I mean the gamecube could go online, but nobody took the initiative to make a game that was worth online mulitplayer. And now with the Wii, which is wi-fi and everything, online ready, there is still like 3 games which even remotely take advantage. Maybe you wouldn't be able to download songs, thats completely understandable with the memory issue, but you should most definitely be able to play with other people online, and I think way back when a HMX rep. said something like "If you didn't buy a certain song, but go into a band with that song, you can still play with them." (And that is a total I think, could have been a total other game, I have a tendency to do that). Anyway, maybe you could only download single songs on the Wii, which I would be ok with. IDK just my opinion. Thanks

Why only 2GB. Why not just get a normal sanDisk for 4GB?
I love my Wii but don't think I would buy this only the Wii. I have a very strange feeling about that.

Check the n00b guide.
I knew one of the HMX guys said "Absolutely", but I personally don't consider that an official anouncement, an official anouncement to me entails maybe a press release with actual details, maybe add Wii logos to the website, send the info along to Gamestop etc etc, something a little more substantial than one guy casually mentioning it at an interview.
Maybe just me though.

Actually, EA is releasing one of the most complex online titles this fall. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medal_of_Honor:_Heroes_2) They definitely know how to get games up and running on the Nintendo's online infrastructure now. Additionally, I don't know how big the Rock Band songs will be, but the GHII ones weren't terribly large (10 to 15 MB each.) Since RB will be using 7 tracks for each song, the size could easily jump up to 50 or 100 MB. The limited storage on the Wii wouldn't help, but it is not prohibitively small.

EA is a company that ruins brands and goes to the lowest common denominator of gamers. So... Rock Band 2 is going to suck.

Gamecube couldn't go online, only LAN. Meaning, only people in a certain radius from you.

Meh, either way you could go online and play with either people, or so I was led to believe. Nonetheless, you can definitely go online now with the Wii, and I would like to see more publishers take advantage of that. That's all I really wanted to say.

The Cube could go online up until earlier this year iirc. Now it's strictly LAN-only.

Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II was online. And some guys hacked the LAN to create online game with Mario Kart Double Dash. But PSO was the only official game, as I remember.

Yeah, as someone who was an Xbox fanboy argueing with the hard side of my Halo: Combat Evolved often with my "LameCube" friends it was another excuse I used.
But now I have a Wii, I'm pro Ninty cos they're different. But Sony... (turns hand into fist)

There is a difference in the SD card specs depending on size... 2GB and below use the original SD format, but if you go above 2GB (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital_card#Compatibility_issues_with_2_GB _and_larger_cards) it (should technically) begin using the SDHC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital_card#SDHC)(SD High Capacity) standard. SDHC cards will not work in SD readers, but SD cards will work in an SDHC device. The Wii only has support for the SD standard. Most manufacturers follow these guidelines, however some have made 4GB cards which work using the old SD standard. Apparently if you can find 4GB cards that are not SDHC they will work (http://forums.nintendo.com/nintendo/board/message?board.id=wii_tech&message.id=48877) with the Wii.
Unfortunately, most retailers have continued to list the SDHC cards simply as SD cards, leading many people confused as to why their 4GB SD card won't work in their SD device.
The more you know.

See I learn something new every day. I have a 2GB one and thought they were all the same. Thanks.
