View Full Version : Is Bass guitar the only other option?

I'm just wondering if there's been any confirmation through interviews, or screenshots or whatever if we're gonna be able to play rhythm guitar... because everything I've read kinda sounds like they really want bass to be other guitar you play.
And no offence to bassists, but sometimes I'd just much rather play rhythm :)

In my opinion, I love bass. But I'm sure at some point there will be songs with bass parts that simply aren't fun to play and those might have rhythm parts. Otherwise, on disc, I think it will be all bass parts. DLC is probably another story.

I considerably doubt all of the songs are bass. Probably rhythm will be in it. I stress "probably".

from what I can gather, "bass"ed (haha sorry), but based on the things Ive seen, including: Video of Reptilia by The Strokes (the side by side one) GH stuck with playing lead the entire time, while in RB, the person who was playing lead guitar also played rhythm at certain parts, it changed between electric and rhythm in the song. Also you always hear them trying to justify the price (which isn't bad, but kind of expensive) by saying it is 4 games in one (bass, guitar, mic, and drums, even though there is no bass campaign). There is really no mention of rhythm guitar in either of those, or anything I've heard, so sorry. Would be cool if later on they added rhythm on as another instrument choice, some bands I know have all 3 types of guitar, so :D.

I think its probable in some areas there will be rhythmn. For example, Metallica's "One" has three guitars in; lead, rhythm and bass, however the bass is virtually unheard in ...And Justice For All (the album its on). So, im guessing it could happen, suppose we'll have to wait and see :)

Why can't we choose bass or rhythm?

I'm pretty sure that at E3 they said that most of them would be bass, but there would be a few with rhythm.

QFT, I'm almost positive certain songs with a lack of good bass will be rhythm instead. Such as Mississippi Queen.

Seen it online or some firsthand demo experience, there?

Watch the video of Mississippi Queen being played both the note charts being played by people with guitars are mostly identical.

Nice. I didn't pay that vid too much attention, but if it is the case, rock on!

It seems like there isn't a choice, though. On that Reptillia RB/GHIII side-by-side video it was obvious that the RB chart was switching between rhythym and lead. So in that song you'd probably only get to play bass.
I wonder, is it a matter of the lead being interesting enough on its own and the bass being boring enough that makes the second guitar rhythym?

For a realism aspect it would be kinda cool to add a rhythm guitar in. But the bassist wouldn't play it, a rhythm guitarist would. That way it's alot more like a real band, everyone is skilled with their instrument and that's what they play.
But it wont happen then way.

Yeah, 4 games in one:
1. Solo guitar campaign
2. Solo drum campaign
3. Solo vocals campaign
4. Band world tour campaign
I've never heard them claim that bass was one of the 4 games.

So? The lead and bass in that song are very similar.

Could you post a link? I can't find any vids of Mississippi Queen anywhere. I don't remember seeing any songs that weren't bass, at least not yet.

I've seen this topic come up before, and I've seen the same claim about Mississippi Queen. But I still haven't seen it. Since there's so many videos, please link us to one. I can't seem to find one for some reason.

This is pretty typical for Single Player in Guitar Hero to mix the rhythm and lead tracks for guitar to provide a more varied experience. You'll notice this on, for instance, Last Child and Can't You Hear Me Knocking. The single player track and the multiplayer Lead track are different.
As such, I don't think that the inclusion of a rhythm guitar section to the single player of Reptillia is conclusive regarding the availability of rhythm guitar for the second player.

I will play rhythm songs to 5 star them, nothing more. :p
Edit: I probably will play them, actually. Just bass more. XD

Since I never really played coop I never noticed the different note charts in GH. I was hoping this would be the case, but it seemed unreasonable to expect it. Now I have hope!

Still haven't seen a video, so I call BS. MQ is lead and bass until I get proof.
