Fake drums to real ??

What is the setup to convert from playing rock band drums to real ?? My cousin has a real drum set but I cant figure out how to set it up to try to follow the game ?! Anyone ??

You tape the middle part of a copper wire to the metal part of the drum. Tape a penny to the part you hit with the drumstick (I'm not too savvy with drum vocabulary) and have it connected to the copper wire. With vibration will send a signal of some sort (once again, vocabulary) signal through it. Put the other end of the copper wire directly into the controller socket thingy. And it should work.
