I'm not surprised about the lack of gameplay screens, hehe.

IGN: Activision has recently announced it's releasing Guitar Hero III this year. Do you think that Rock Band and Guitar Hero can quite happily co-exist alongside each other?
Alex Rigopulos: I do, actually. The music game category is growing so explosively, there's clearly plenty of space for multiple successful franchises. These franchises will, of course, compete to a certain degree, but that competition will also help drive the evolution and expansion of the category, to everyone's benefit. With Rock Band, we're really trying to push into new territory and to elevate the genre to a fundamentally new place.
See, Activision? That's the classy way to handle it. :D
Oh, their plans for DLC is pretty impressive as well. "hundreds of songs"! While I probably wouldn't expect any of the "huge" names to pop up (gotta have something for RockBand 2, right?) that's like whoah. Also makes me speculate that they've figured out a way to keep the pricing down (maybe just give artists a cut of the profits instead of paying a big chunk outright? who knows?) with that kind of confidence.
And possibly releasing tools in the future for people to create their own note charts and easily import to the game? That's a pair of cojones the size of the Epcot centre!

Well Neversoft said the same thing (good guys) while Activison said something stupid (bad guys). But then again not one person can speak for each company...

GH is now an afterthought!
I can't say anything (for specific reasons) but I'm looking forward to this more than I was a few months ago!

I've just woken up to find the "blow out", what a glorious day it is. Everything's sounding pretty cool. Lots of DLC, possible midi support for drums, the amount on single play modes, possible customization tools in the future. It's all sounding sweet!
As far as the visuals go I'm not sold on the characters yet, but its only stills so we don't get to see the movement. The lighting however is awesome, I love it. All the colours work great together, the neons looks great and i love how parts of it look really blown out and bright.
In the end the visuals are one of the least important things to me though. Need the good interface and gameplay, and of course the set list and peripherals.

True true.. I'm sure the characters will (hopefully) undergo a number of make-overs and transformations by the time the game goes gold anyway, which is why I didn't mention anything. After all, they've given us some pretty awesome characters in the past, eh.
