usually they are pretty dead on with their release dates and jus last week they had BOTH of them listed as the 20th, but now the ps3 is the 6th!!! so if this is true this would cause an uproar! i dont care cause im a ps3 player but still, hystaria
edit: also if u look, all the ps3 accessories come out before the 6th, and all the 360 come out on the 20th, AGAIN after just 1 week ago everything said the 20th!

There is no reason to take a retailer's word about pricing or release dates seriously unless the developers or publishers of the game have confirmed them.

yeah but they had both of them listed as the 20th, then SOMETHING drove them to change it to the 6th, i dont think it was for no reason, maybe they havent changed the 360 yet

interesting if it really was changed up from the 20th on their website. you wouldnt modify the page unless you had reson to announce a revised date.
of course they could just be doing it to inflate pre-orders...and when they feel like they've baited enough people, they'll say, sorry, the date was always tentative, and we now believe units will be in on the 20th!

Exactly, and no matter what happens, the 360 and PS3 versions of the game will be released on the same day. Which will most likely be the 20th of November. If it ends up being the 6th though, I wont complain.

I would think it'd be unlikely for either version of the game to be released before the other. I think the companies involved in Rock Band are pretty console-neutral. They don't really have a reason to put one version out before the other (unless, of course, Harmonix still loves Sony for publishing FreQ and Amp way back when and wants to do them a favor, haha). The only genuine motive they'd have for releasing one before the other is if they want to get the game out as soon as possible and one console's instruments are farther along than the others in manufacturing.
All in all, I wouldn't put too much stock in retailer's info. People point out that they wouldn't change it for no reason, but this stuff happens all the time. Retailers do change things for no reason. They go on hunches with no real basis, and confuse customers by doing this. Gamespot, for example, is notoriously untrustworthy with release date accuracy (especially in stores). The projected release date for Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s was changed numerous times with various retailers close to the release date. In fact, the release date for that game wasn't even confirmed until less than a month before it was released.
Just be patient and wait for official word on pricing and release dates from EA/MTV/HMX. Taking others' words is not always a good idea. When you do that, you end up with news outlets reporting that Metallica is suing Neversoft and Harmonix based on a satirical article that people didn't get.

It's ridiculous how incredibly true this is. I've bought games before with IGN or Gamespot still showing the wrong release date. People really want to believe it's an exact science, but it just isn't. That's the biz. :\
People just need to stop freaking out over every little hint on this release date. We're still 2 months away. You have a lot of other stuff to deal with in your life in the next 2 months. Stress over that instead.

If I had to guess, they seem to have a pretty good idea that it will be the 6th or the 20th. So they put one console on each date. So we know it could be either of those 2 days, once the actual date is released, they will swap the incorrect console date to the other one.
Least I won't have any trouble pre-ordering since there's only 12 of us ps3 users! I better take down their names though, since there'll only be 3 bands competing.

True, but nothing was ever announced. They just changed their speculation. The reason they picked either the 20th or the 6th is that games always release on Tuesdays. I'm sure if they thought they would make money online retailers would give you a release date for Daikatana 2 and take your preorder.

So i was thinking...
RB is scheduled to come out november 20th.
That's the tuesday before turkey day.
I'm somewhat inclined to believe that that is the wrong date.
I don't think it would be in their favor to release the game when people are travling for the holiday and what not.
I'm so hoping it comes out sooner.
So then i thought...
Wouldn't it be a kick in gh iii's toosh if rb surprisingly came out before gh iii?
Oh man, I would be all over that in an instant as i'm still mega-iffy on getting gh iii.
I suppose it's just wishful thinking on my part and partially that i want this game now.
I wish they would release the date and the price so i can be prepared to rock out.

actually the 20th is a huge day to release. don't believe me? most consoles were released within that week of thanksgiving. xbox and gcn released on the 15th and the 18th the wii(nov 19th) and 360(nov 22) both came out around that week as well as the ps3(nov 17th). if your going to launch a platform it's one of the best weeks because you get the huge initial sales plus the sales of black friday and the following monday which i think is now called cyber monday(weird i know) so it is a really good week to launch something although i'd much rather it come out earlier

Here's a few reasons I can think of.
1) They forgot to move the 360 date.
2) They don't know what they're talking about.
3) They're short on PS3 preorders, so they're tricking PS3 people into thinking they'll get that version first.
4) They figure ONE of the dates will be correct, then they only have to change the other one.
5) Rogue employee.
6) They don't know what they're talking about.

I agree with 2 and 6. 4 is basically my thoughts. 3, if someone has a ps3, they're more than likely buying it for ps3 anyway, so tricking them into thinking it's a different day won't affect anything. I have a ps3, and I'm getting it for ps3 whatever date it comes out, earlier, later, same day. If someone has both systems, they'll be getting for whichever systems their friends mainly have.

Idk what to think about this. I mean it's certainly possible the ps3 version could come first considering HMX's trouble with getting a wireless license for the 360 version. But everything we've seen is the 360 version, that's gotta play some part into it as well.

No, we understand that perfectly clear. And I also understand how easy it is to read what you want into things. And I understand it still means absolutely nothing, becuase we're still 2 months out and things like this happen.
I'm sorry, I know you want it to mean something, but it really doesn't. It might release on the 20th, it might release on the 6th. But we just don't know yet. The ship dates will be announced soon, and then you can stop worrying about it.
I'm not trying to be a dick, by the way. It's just this isn't my first anticipated release for a video game. Nothing here is new, it's all happened before. The game will soon go gold, a ship date will be announced, and this will all be moot. But it's cool how excited everyone is for this game! That's awesome. :D

100% sure both versions will release at the same time.
plus, didn't gamepro initially state the game would be out on the 6th?
I don't remember ANY source that said the 20th except for stores, HMX didn't release any official info yet.
Plus, if it comes out on the 6th it will officially be out a week before Guitar Hero 3 which will be an odd turn of events.. (that is, if the countdown on the GH website is to the true release date of the game.. getting pushed back is stupid.)

I think it was the July issue of Gameinformer that originally dropped the Nov 6th date, wasn't it? I was telling people the 6th was the release date months ago. It was a while before I noticed the actual stores claimed the 20th, and started using that as the assumed date.
Maybe the guy in charge of PS3 releases at Gamestop finally picked up his 3 month old gameinformer, got excited, and made the switch. What a silly monkey.

Nirvana's "In Bloom"
Metallica's "Enter Sandman"
Queens of the Stone Age's "Go With The Flow",
Foo Fighters' "Learn to Fly"
The Hives' "Main Offender"
Mountain's "Mississippi Queen"
Black Sabbath's "Paranoid"
The Strokes' "Reptilia"
The Ramones' "Rockaway Beach"
Weezer's "Say It Ain't So"
David Bowie's "Suffragette City"
Rush's "Tom Sawyer"
Stone Temple Pilots' "Vasoline"
Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive"
The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again"
I was pretty sure that 'The Ramones- Rockaway Beach' wasn't on there. On the official Rockband website, it said that it is 'Blitzkrieg Bop'. Again, correct me if I am wrong about this.

How many frames were GH and GH II running at?
The recent FPS issues with EA's sports games doesn't really apply here. 60 fps might be great for football, hockey, racing, etc., but I doubt it's important for a game like RB.
A steady fps is all I care about.

A solid framerate is what matters, and remember, EA is only publishing the game. Harmonix is in complete control of the development. ;)

The recent FPS issues with EA's sports games doesn't really apply here. 60 fps might be great for football, hockey, racing, etc., but I doubt it's important for a game like RB.
1) You're right, this shouldn't be an issue for RB.
2) Framerate is VERY important in a rhythm game. You need to base what you do off the visuals on-screen. The higher (and smoother) the framerate, the better. 30fps means that you could be off by +/- 16.5ms (1/30, half of that window), which is withing the limits of the human ear to detect a change in audio (aka, you can tell if something is 15ms early or late). Again, not a huge issue, but more important than with sports games IMO.

I don't think that RB or the GH series of games are very bleeding edge, though, as far as graphics. Maybe that is what he meant, in that since the game doesn't have the high, and overdone in my opinion, detail of a game like Halo, the FPS doesn't matter. It doesn't matter, because the game isn't going to tax any next generation system with the exception of the Wii, and I doubt it would tax it very much with some tweaks.

RB is being released on the 20th for both consoles. I went to my city's EB Games store and she confirmed it. There's still no official price though :(

When you're dealing in milliseconds, I highly doubt being 15ms off is really that noticeable, at least to the point of anyone caring.
And besides, there is no musician in the world that can play a song the exact same way every time. If a particular note is a few thousandths of a second off, who cares. If we're talking closer to 100ms, then I might care.
In the context of a video game, there are other variables to consider. How fast is the stuff on the screen moving, because if its not fast (and I'd say Rock Band isn't that fast), the higher FPS isn't really noticeable to the eye. Factor in the type and size of the TV you have, and how far away you stand from it when you play, and you have even more factors.
Add them all up, and I don't think 60fps would make the game significantly better.
If it isn't that hard to implement, then sure, why not. But if it slows down working on the rest of the game (or securing a license with The Beatles), why bother with it.
And yes, I assume the guy who works on the development of the game also calls up bands for licensing agreements.

Very true, you should be able to play even if the audio/video isn't perfectly synced. Just play on rhythm ;)
I also don't think being at 60ms is necessary. I was just pointing out that a rhythm game would benefit more from 60fps than a sports game. More is riding on those 15ms when you're playing 16th notes that are 60ms a piece, compared to a football play that lasts 5-10+ seconds.

As long as you line up the scan rate with the rhythm as it hits the bottom bar, it should be fine. Just make sure to only use songs with beats that fall on 1/30 sec intervals. ;)

shouldn't matter anyway since the EA Sports games are made by Tiburon Studios, and RB is by Harmonix, 2 completely different developers, just sharing the same publisher, kinda like how we can't say he crappyness of Jay-z's last album will make CKY's album suck because they're both on Island records. (or were, I think CKY is on Roadrunner now)

People, don't stress framerate here... Harmonix would have to be the most ignorant group of people on the face of the earth to mess that up. Besides, for timing, all that matters is audible cues anyway.

No offense Sean, but you must be able to see how these topics are brought to life. As the consumer, we can only go by information that is released, either by vendors or developers. As Harmonix/MTV is unable to provide this information yet, the consumer can only go by what the stores are telling them.
I don't fault anyone adding a topic saying 'well I just heard from Store A that it's coming out tomorrow' when it seems that we're left in the dark on here.
I'm patient and I'll get the game when it's released. I'm just saying that we could probably avoid such topics if the consumer had an idea on when you were allowed to share this info.

I doubt anyone at HMX is offended. Maybe frustrated that they can't give a locked down date. The whole root of teh matter is that people want this game. HMX wants to give people this game. It's just up to someone to decide when exactly that game can bee given and taken....for 60-200 bucks(alledgedly).

So is this something that is already known and just not released yet. What I am trying to say is, has the date been confirmed within Harmonix and you just can't release the info yet.
I mean, as you know, people are dying to purchase RB. We soley rely on your info. Personally I'd rather hear when its going to be released and how much its gonna cost than more song or game info. That holiday season is coming up rather quick and RB isn't the only thing I have to spend money on.

man this forum is the most gullible group of people around. EB Games could state Rock Band's release date as "Mayonaise" and you guys would all think that the game is coming out on Mayonaise.

I don't recall sean saying "I do not recall"
But he did say "To my knowledge":
"to my knowledge, I did not make decisions about who should or should not be asked to resign."
But to my knowledge, there is no physical search of mail ongoing under either the authority to use military force or the president’s inherent authority under the Constitution, except as otherwise authorized by statute passed by the Congress.
The point I want to make is that, to my knowledge, none of the reservations dealt with the program that we're talking about today.
