So I've checked out the three or four Judas Priest drum videos I could find, and it looks like the (expert) drum parts fall squarely in the same category as "Paranoid" and "The Number Of The Beast"-- fast, repetitive, kinda boring, but with lots of bass drum so you end the song in leg pain if you haven't warmed up.
Am I missing out? Are any of these songs secretly fun to play on drums, like "Joker & The Thief" or "Siva"?

Yeah, that's pretty much the way metal drumming was back in the late-60's and 70's when Sabbath, Maiden and Priest were starting out.
It's no coincidence that Maiden's drumming sounds so similar, they constantly cite Priest as a huge influence :)

This pack seems to be lackluster for all the instruments, unless you like the music.

That's pretty much what metal drumming is, period. It's gotten faster and chock full of double bass but it's still repetitive, speed focused drumming.

That's a generalization. What about the bands such as Opeth, Dream Theater, etc.?

You're kidding, right? Electric Eye (I dunno how it is tabbed in Rock Band yet, in school, got no video privelages) is a mean ass solo. If you call that a weak solo, you aren't very good at finding a guitar solo.

it's common enough to be considered the rule and not the exception....

The part of that word, seem, is why I'm not wrong. Seem, not is.

I'm not kidding. I said it seems to be not IS lackluster. I have a PS3 and would have to wait to purchase it Thursday. I am simply going on A) What people are saying and more importantly B) The Youtube videos that I have so far seen.

then i'm not sure what you're watching... if you've watched the videos or heard the songs it's quite obvious there are plenty of solo's that are challenging.

Well, its a matter of opinion, but seeing the same Youtube videos as you most of the songs look great on guitar (Screaming for Vengence's solo will take a while to get down) and riffs are all fairly entertaining. Alas, I also haven't been able to play them yet... later tonight..

I will have to look at the solo myself when I get home, I won't take say I am right or wrong or anything since I am at school, but if they made the solo easier, I will be mad.

That's simply not true. Maybe you should listen to more diverse metal bands instead of mainstream.

I mean, drumming is somewhat repetitive by its nature, outside of showy songs like WGFA. And I'm okay with that, but... man, now I'm reading the songlist and trying to remember which metal songs I liked the drums on. Maybe it's just Metallica.
(The drums on "Enter Sandman" seem to bear more of a resemblance to the Smashing Pumpkins drums-- which I love-- than they do to other RB metal.)
