So in anticipation of Rock Band I decided to have a go at some karaoke.. luckily my sister already owns a bunch of Singstar money vacuums.

My question is: aside from the obvious visual appearances, are the mechanics of Singstar the same as Karaoke Revolution? I know that RB is going to be a little more advanced than KR, but I assume that'll be a pretty close indication to how things will work, anyway...

(now if I could just hold a ****ing tune lol)

SS is pretty much the same, except that on some songs (on the copy I own its the male part of love shack and the Fresh Prince song Summertime) there's a "Rap Meter." It differs from the normal rhythym/pitch monitor in that it only detects rhythym of syllables, but seems to be a lot more picky about it.

Like in normal mose you can start a note early and not get penalized for it, as long as you're hitting the note when you realyl need to. With the "Rap Meter" part, you have to be pretty spot-on with all of the syllables. It's really hard for songs I'm unfamilar with, but for Love Shack it's actually easier than the rest of the song.

Also scores are way lower - I think they cap at four digits. (maybe 10000).
