How about the Misfits?

I just wanted to see what people thought about The Mifits. I guess they were the first "horror punk" band. It seems that although they were considered punk alot of "metal" bands were influenced by them & there fast paced playing.
Does anyone else like The Mifits here? Maybe you dont like them. All opinions are welcomed. I personally think they are great & have terrific songs. Thanks.

Yeah I only recently took the time to listen to Walk Among Us....previously I've heard some singles tracks like Last Caress, Haterbreeders...

Gotta say i'm enjoying it...highlights so far including hatebreeders are I turned into a Martian, Mommy can i go out and Kill tonite.....oh good times!! EDIT: how'd i forget All Hell Breaks Loose?!

So still kinda green working my way through their limited discography but enjoying it as i go...

You should also check out Static Age if you like Walk Among Us. Some people think that is there best, but I like w.a.u. better. Thanks for the reply.

cool thanks for the recommendation I'll check it out...yeah i had a roommate about 12 years ago who listened to the first 4 Danzig albums all the time so I had a lot of exposure to those later tunes...I'll still throw on Danzig II Lucifuge every now and then...and I've always enjoyed the live tracks in particular off of Demonsweatlive..."lets slow it down" before Sistinas :cool:

Damn....Danzig II Lucifuge one of the best albums "EVERRRRRRRRRRRR". That is great from start to finish every song fit perfect on the cd. Awesome choice in music. :)

PS - I am from the same hometown as Danzig & the boys so I was exposed to the music real early.

The misfits were great! Samhain was trash, Danzig rocks, and Black Aria is Glory!

I use to love the Misfits but they've become too popular. All the hot topic posers at my school have a Misfits shirt, so I don't wear mine anymore. They played in my town last week, I didn't go. I would If they still had Danzig.

The Misfits were a great band until Michale Graves replaced Danzig.

I like the original era Misfits AND the Michale Graves Misfits. So the songs were more catchy....why is that a bad thing? American Psycho is probably my favorite Misfits album as far as replay value of a CD goes. Don't get me wrong, old school Misfits were still awesome and way more creepy with Danzig!

As far as popularity, they are not really IMO. Their image, logo and all around theme are popular with the Hot Topic kiddies, but as far as bands go, I don't consider them very mainstream or popular.

i started listening to them because of metallica's covers, and i like 'em. My favourite songs are Scream! and Skulls (gets stuck in your head for ages)

I was more a Michael Graves fan, as far as the Misfits music altogether. Nothing wrong with Danzig though - but check their history - it took a long while before Danzig gave Jerry Only permission to perform live and in studio under the name 'Misfits' - Michael Graves didn't replace Glenn Danzig, Danzig just didn't want to play that type of music anymore.
And the guitar playing of Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein did improve in the Graves Misfits albums (Helena).

So yeah! How about them Misfits!?!
