Oh, not again...from The Escapist (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/77031-Alabama-Cop-Killer-Appeals-Sentence-Says-GTA-Made-Him-Do-It):
A man who killed two police officers and a police dispatcher in Alabama is appearing before an appeals court today, claiming that child abuse and Grand Theft Auto made him do it.
Devin Moore, 18 at the time, was being held on suspicion of auto theft in June 2003 when he wrestlee a gun away from officer Arnold Strickland. He then shot and killed Strickland, officer James Crump and dispatcher Ace Mealer. When he was arrested for the murders, he was reported to have said, "Everybody has got to die sometime." The statement was amended in December 2004 during a court motion which claimed the actual statement was, "Life's a videogame. You've got to die sometimes."
While his father stated after the arrest that Moore was a "troubled child" with a history of drug use and criminal behavior, Moore claimed that excessive time spent playing Grand Theft Auto III and Vice City "programmed him to kill," and put him in a dissociative state in which he was unable to discern the reality of his actions. The videogame defense was disallowed during his trial, however, and an insanity defense based on post-traumatic stress disorder failed to sway jurors. He was convicted of capital murder in August 2005, and sentenced to death for the crimes.
Despite being unable to use the defense in his trial, the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals has agreed to hear oral arguments in the matter. Moore's attorney is claiming that while in a dissociative state, Moore reverted to "scripted behavior" influenced by his exposure to the Grand Theft Auto games and abuse suffered during his childhood.
The videogame-based appeal was spurred largely by Jack Thompson, who filed a civil suit in August 2005 against Wal-Mart, GameStop, Sony and Take-Two Games on behalf of the victims' families. According to Thompson, the defendants in the suit, by creating the game and selling it to Moore, "They equipped this man to kill. They trained him." Thompson was removed from the case in November 2005 for being "unable to conduct himself in a manner befitting practice in this state." The Strickland vs. Sony wrongful death suit has yet to proceed.

To Harvest or not to Harvest, that is the question;
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The pipes and bullets of outrageous Splicers,
Or to take arms against a horde of Big Daddies,
And by opposing, end them. To die, to sleep...

"They equipped this man to kill" "They trained him".
LOL. Jesus Christ. I really hope the End Times are upon us. This is just completely ******ed! First of all, I feel bad that an officer has lost his life, but that just means that he should have had better training. Accidents do happen, but this officer should have had weapon drawn do to the circumstances. The culprit was already guilty of GTA and should have been approached with caution. The officer was the one that equipped the dumbass!
Secondly! I highly doubt that GTA is even close to a combat and weapons simulator, and therefore a irrelevant as a training program.
Does the general public not see the idiocy in this, or are they as dumb as the rest of these people that believe this?

The only thing GTA trained us to kill efficiently is TIME. And lots of it. Blaming a video game for your own actions and stupidity is absurd. This shouldn't even be relevent to bother discussing in court.
Pushing a bunch of buttons on a plastic controller, sitting your ass on a couch, reclined with a pop and snacks in your lap all day is not going to train you to go out and steal a car, attack a cop, pull a gun on him, and shoot to kill.
I've played these same exact video games that people are blaming for their stupid actions, for just as many hours as the next guy, and I wouldn't even go out and swear at some random person, basically because it's just rude.
*hah, i spelled stupidity wrong!

 Now I'm going hijack a car! I'm gonna go up to it, press the existing [real life] triangle button to make me do it automatically and drive away while they are effortlessly thrown to the ground! Seriously what idiots would take that? Theres TV programs that do more than that... Whats more is the military "trains you to kill", sure theres some people that say "Its for the good of our country". Whats stopping them from killing civilians besides the same thing that stopped that guy? NOTHING.

No, what Katamari was subliminally telling you was to roll the biggest blunt you could and smoke it, then get as high as the stars in the sky.

For the record, I'm pretty good at shooter games, but I cannot fire a real gun at all. Y'know when you try to snipe in MGS and you don't have pentazemin? Basically 4x that.

LMAO. Now that was good. I in all honesty hate Jack Thompson with a passion, you'd think with all these "trained killers" playing video games that he'd be sniped by now. I mean really, just look at pictures of the guy you can tell he is totally off his rocker and just wants money and that's it. He could care less about the kids that enjoy these video games and aren't ******ed and know the difference between reality and fantasy. The problem with that guy was he used a lot of drugs and really didn't care about his life anymore. I mean really, look at most crack heads today, you'll find that they do worse than what that guy did and they never even picked up a video game (mainly because they spent all their money on crack).
NOTE: I never said -I- wanted to kill Jack Thompson and I never said anyone -SHOULD- kill him, I was simply wondering since there are so many gamers out there that are "trained assassins" that this guy hasn't been outted yet. Obviously no one likes the guy. If you give it some thought though, i'm pretty glad this hasn't happened yet because then **** really would hit the fan.

I posted this in my Jack Thompson H8rz Thread, but I will post it here since it goes hand in hand with GTA.

Lol at your misfortune! I can snipe soda cans on a rifle (no special equipment) 50 yds. but I get pwned in shooting games. Not stopping me from getting Halo though!
