Is there a more "complete" instruction manual online then the one that came with the game. Even the little tips in the game don't seem to be enough. I have played mainly guitar, a little bass, very little drumming and little singing.

For me it was trial and error figuring out how to completely work the guitar. For example the effects switch. I tried to figure how it works and when it does. Through trial and error I figured it out.

Now forget about the other 3 instruments. I don't know much. For example wth is a bass grove. My friend comes over and plays mainly bass. I would like to tell him what that is and if its any different. I went through the manual that come with. I felt like it basically said "THIS IS ROCK BAND..THOSE ARE DRUMS, GUITARS, AND MIC...GOOD LUCK EVERYBODY!"

Then I come here and read about custom guitars made in the game. Stuff I never even looked for.

Oh well can anyone help

To my knowledge there is no complete instruction manual online but I may be wrong any questions you've got just put them in the forum and we'll be happy to help.

Bass grove is simply where you keep your streak long enough to get a 5x or 6x multiplier you don't get anything special for having it. It just lets you know your in a long streak without dropping notes or overstrumming.

As far as the more complete manual i would suggest look on here for your info. Most of the game is going to be trail and error and also timing. Once you get those things down ull be fine. Also there is the tutorial in the game that breaks the instruments down for you.

I seem to remember the tutorials are pretty complete.

have you used the in-game tutorials?

Wow, I can't remember the last time I actually needed to look at a manual to figure out a game. I think it was "Jane's F-15"

I'm gonna sound like a jerk here, but if you can't figure out the tutorials, you should probably just take the game back.

Thank you all for the positive responses. I have done the in game tutorial and I still feel like there is more hit or miss learning in the game. I took the advice to the link someone gave me. I have been playing with only the guitar right now cause i want to get on expert. My friends come over and ask about the mic and drum and I shrug my shoulders cause i really haven't touched those.

I can read up and give them a few pointers and even learn a few things about the guitar

I never read manuals... much more fun... I can't tell you how many times I killed myself in Call of Duty 4 with grenades. I didn't realize that I was hitting that button as I was walking forward then *BOOM*... dead...... lol..... ahhh good times.... I'm sure I'll make some fun stupid mistakes with GTAIV... Can't wait!!!!

I have read the RB manuals out of boredom, but I drew mostly on past knowledge. These games have a "helping hand" aspect to them in the sense that once you figure it out, you should help someone else.

Some things you just pick up on your own. Ex: You don't have to be a maniac in the fills or have to hit the ending green.

I never used the manual and I play on Expert.

"Bass Groove," as far as I know, is what the game tells you when you get your multiplier on bass up to 5. (though it goes as high as X6)

The effects switch is just that... A guitar effect switch. The different selections (Flange, chorus, wah, etc. etc.) are just sound effects, like on a real guitar. These effects are only audible during a solo or while overdrive is deployed.

OD: Overdrive.

GS: Gold Star/stars/starred. you can only get gold stars on a song by playing it on expert difficulty. gold stars come after getting 5 stars on a song and are harder to get.

FC: Full Combo. Playing through the entire song without missing a note or over strumming, in other words, NOT breaking your note streak throughout the entire song - a full combo

Over strumming: Strumming a note, then strumming again when there is no note. This breaks your score multiplier. It won't affect your note percentage at the end of the song. For example if you hit every note in the song but over strum a note (strum one note twice)it will still say "100%" at the end of the song.

DLC: Downloadable Content. Songs you can purchase and download from the xbox live market place/PS store to play in rock band, there are a couple hundred songs to choose from. There is also an in-game music store,so you don't have to go to the market place/store.

I don't know about the PS Store but on the Xbox most songs cost about 180 points, some cost only 80, and a handful are free. These free songs are "Still Alive," "Promised Land," "Charlene (I'm Right Behind You)" and "Headphones On."

Welcome to the video game world! We no longer believe in instruction manuals here. But if you think this is bad go try to play a dance dance revolution game.

"you've unlocked a music clip"

but what does that do?

".....you've unlocked a music clip!"

*sigh*

I'd like more in-depth information in solo tour for PS3. Like what do the little icons mean next to the venue in each city? looks like there are 4 outlines of bodies with 1 filled.

This one I figured out on my own, so I'll post the answer in a riddle.

How many total players can play Rock Band at once?
Of those, how many played the song you are looking at?
