Say you know the lyrics to a song.
You would be able to sing and play the guitar/bass/drums. Right?
Cause i would think that would be a fun thing to do if you have like 3 people.
Hopefully they'll add a mic stand.

Under the microphone description (http://www.rockband.com/game_info/instruments) on the main site it says "Mic Stand also available."
So yeah, you should be able to do this. I was planning on doing it with a few songs, even without the stand.
The only problem is the tambourine/cowbell parts. How are you supposed to hit those, let alone see them, when you are playing another instrurment? It is something that has puzzled me greatly...

You can technically do both. You will just be taking up two player slots in the band.

You use vocals (POW or BAM) to do the tambourine/cowbell.

I'd sacrifice points just to add the realism of -not- saying "pow" or "bam". I think if you don't hit the notes for the cowbell and tambourine then it doesn't hurt the score or multiplier, just the note streak... But that doesn't really make much sense because in GH Series if you miss a note and your note streak is broken you go back to no multiplier...

The only penalty for not hitting cowbell/tambourine parts is that you don't get the bonus points associated with them. Your health and combo. will not be affected.

You could beat box, instead of actually saying POW or BAM. You could hum. You could just go, "DOO DOO DOO" to the melody of the music.
It basically will accept any noise.

Why would you want to play guitar and vocals? Do bass and vocals, Geddy Lee style.

Is that a fact? Sweet I wasn't planning on concerning myself with them anyways if I was singing and playing an instrument so that makes me much happier. I feel like the times where I am singing and playing guitar or drums, I won't be going for score anyways, I'll just be doing it because it would be a blast.

Well yes, while you're playing repetively the same few notes over and again you can sing. To play REAL guitar and sing requires more skill

I can barely play GH2...I can't see trying to concentrate on trying to sing as well, lol. Would be fun, though.

Oh no you didn't!
The big difference is that when you play guitar and sing, most of the time it's power chords, or if you're lead guitar you don't play at the same time as you sing. Bassists are always playing while singing, and in a different rhythm usually.
And anyone who calls it "REAL guitar" is probably the guy everyone wants to kick out of the band for being cocky. Every instrument is important.

Why do you think Jack Bruce sang in Cream, and not him? And you can't say JB's bass lines are simple. Most of Clapton's solo stuff he's playing simpler lines when he sings, then does little fills at the end.
He's still an AMAZING vox/guitarist, but I'd still say that someone like Sting is more prolific as far as singing and playing, and he didn't simplify his bass playing at all.
